(I don’t think it because they are just trying to be kind. 🙂 ). My diet is low fat and I do not drink much alcohol but I believe the real practice that keeps me feeling younger is meditation which I have been practicing since I was a teenager. I recommend the guided meditations by Jon Shore at, https://www.meditation-download.com, to many of my psychotherapy practice clients. For those who use it regularly I have seen this practice help them with numerous physical and psychological ailments as well as help them stay happy and positive no matter what is going on in their lives. As I tell my clients, it has no negative side effects and is a lot cheaper than botox so try it for a few months and see how you feel.
Many years ago I worked with patients at John’s Hopkins on a research program using deep relaxation techniques for inducing sleep. We chose only those patients who were not using medication for insomnia, pain, depression or anxiety. We found that patients with insomnia who had also been diagnosed with depression responded very well to this sleep/relaxation process. One of the conclusions of the study was that people who get a good night’s sleep have a lower incidence of depression. The sleep/relaxation program we utilized in this study is still available at this website, http://www.lightunlimitedpublishing.com. I still recommend it to my psychotherapy practice clients as an alternative to sleep meds. As I tell them, it cannot hurt to try it.

Mindfulness and meditation are essential in this stressful world for optimum health. I still recommend and teach these practices to all my psychotherapy clients.
