When climbers decided to take on Mount Everest, they knew they were stepping into a dangerous expedition. Still, none of them could have anticipated Saturday's 7.8 earthquake and the avalanche that resulted.

According to The Guardian, 140 climbers had been airlifted off the mountain as of yesterday, and returned to safer grounds.
