My Favorite Yoga Teacher of All Time: Desiree Rumbaugh ~ Watch This Amazing Video & Fall in Love

Yesterday was a super special day for me. My favorite yoga teacher in the world agreed to be an Original Content Contributor for Conscious Life News. When she said “yes,” I actually cried happy tears! If you take a moment to watch this video, I think you just may understand why. Desiree Rumbaugh brings true Grace (yes, with a Capital G) to everything she does. I feel we at CLN will be deeply blessed by her valuable insights and beautiful presence. Desiree will be sharing a new yoga-related article or video every Thursday. Trust me, you won't want to miss her stuff.

I first experienced the heart-joy of a Desiree Rumbaugh class on a hot summer day in Venice, California about seven years ago. A couple of my yoga friends had recommended I go to her workshop that was being held in a Ballet School not far from the ocean. The room was packed with yoga mats. There must have been a couple hundred (or more) of us. Everyone was excited. Looking around at faces full of joyous anticipation, my  dominant thought was, “Wow, how is this woman going to live up to this?”

Moments later, Desiree came out and I knew how she was going to live up to it — by being herself. Desiree lit the entire room up with her energetic, open hearted,  and extremely knowledgable yoga teaching. With her fun coaxing, I did yoga poses that day I had no idea I could do! And I could see it was the same for others. More importantly, all of us in that workshop walked out with fuller hearts and a feeling of connection and playfulness.

I was hooked. I became a bonified Desiree Rumbaugh fan and student. Unfortunately, she lived in another state and traveled frequently to teach workshops across the globe. This meant that I had to travel to learn from her. And boy did I! I flew across the Atlantic to take a teacher training with her in Athens,Greece, and I attended practice-deepening workshops with her in Salt Lake City, Del Mar, Scottsdale and Los Angeles. Each time I grew inside and out. That's one of the things I adore about Desiree — your physical practice improves and you grow as a soul.

Just to give you an idea of what I mean, check out these quotes from the short video above. They're all gems!

Quotables From Desiree Rumbaugh (video above):

“A yogi is someone who uses everything that happens to him or her to their advantage.”

“Yoga teaches you how to feel — even things you don't want to feel.”

“My mantra is ‘Love is stronger than fear.'”

“I just want to be like a light at the end of your tunnel if you've been through something really rough. I want to show you that there's light and there's life again, and I want to invite you to come back in, because life is short.”
