What do motion pictures (Hollywood Film) have to do with human consciousness? According to film historian and new media expert Randall Libero, a lot!

When we watch a movie, whether romantic comedy, deep drama or even documentary, are we tuning in to tune out or are we staying conscious within ourselves and not allowing what we’re experiencing with our physical senses take us over?

These questions spawned a most intriguing discussion about the role of media in consciousness and why now more than ever we must choose wisely the images that we allow to come into our lives.

Both shadow and light have a critical role to play in the way we view film and it is with this perception that many ancient peoples understood the benefits of both in all aspects of life.

With more choices than ever to view media as well as create it, we can certainly choose which side of the veil we wish to partake.

Fortunately with these choices, the emergence of conscious media is now being given a starring role. And with this burgeoning trend, we now have the opportunity to allow that which we take in through our eyes and ears – expand our consciousness, rather than repress it.

This is a special re-broadcast of Conscious Inquiry Radio. But note, ALL of what is discussed is even more relevant today! Listen up!

and not all films have be in over-the-top “HD”, depressing, somber, fuzzy, hazy hues and color. sounds, images, visuals, pictures, editing of the mediocre films today are pushed in your face …. someone once said that that hollywood has lost it’s integrity and touch because it has been about the “editing” and not the story, performance, script. commercializiation is losing it’s touch and interest. audience are bored ….

the greatness and beauty of the art, in past to be renewed, was that the art and the film did not tell you how to think or feel … the subtlties, the nuances, the silences, the pauses of non-HD and analog …. watching media in “HD” , in foresight, diminishes the natural, creative process and is over-stimulating to the senses (our natural senses needs a pause, a break to process, to filter what we are experiencing) … kinesthetically, with all the details filling in every inch of the screen, and popping out of the screen, there is no space and room to breathe and intuit.

Robert Redford spoke recently in an interview that the reason he brought out to light his new film, “A Walk In The Woods” was to bring back a film and story that has been missing for quite a few years now.

Renew the art. Hope to see one brave fillmaker to step outside the conformity and return to the greatness of fillmmaking. Go all the way, like our past greats for our future. How about filming in analog, HD-free, focus on the story and not special effects, over the top emotions, but genuine emotion. A problem to solve is that many of the mediocre, commericialized younger generations of “actors” have been exposed and entrained to a living enviroment of sterile, cold, soul-less technology (of “smart phones”, social media, internet, pop culture, etc) as the example of human relationship and development. Where are the great artists of today? The new actors (with the exception of a very few) are no longer genuine, great artists but socially enginneered, homogenized made for profit (bad) actors, at the least. to sensitive our selves to the lack of quality, skill, unique and distinct giftedness that sets each true individuated artist and person apart reduces our own unique humanity.
Lately, it’s hard to tell from one film from another. We miss the greats.

The greats should not have to “work” (just to be “glad to be able to work”) and sacrifice their light, art and integrity because hollywood is (d)evolving to a conformed standard. Stand up, demand better scripts. Remember the strikes, Normae Rae? Silkwood?

“hollywood”, t.v., music and mainstream media have become an imblalanced industry of violence/apathy/pessimism darkness, politicking, social enginnering, soundbites, memes and hashtags …. a sore lack of wisdom, enlightenment, genuine inspiration/empathy and humanity. the balance has to return. or the entire industry will fade out in the present planetary and wordly cycle (fifth world).

in satya, in truth, in liberation. aho.
