The Akashic Records: What Are They & Do They Actually Exist?

By Arjun Walia | Collective Evolution

“All perceptible matter comes from a primary substance, or tenuity beyond conception, filling all space, the Akasha or luminiferous ether, which is acted upon by the life giving Prana or creative force, calling into existence, in never ending cycles, all things and phenomena.”– Nikola Tesla, Man’s Greatest Achievement, 1907

Depending on the philosophy or religion cited, “Akasha” generally has the same core meaning.  It’s Sanskrit (primary sacred language of Hinduism) for “aether,” in both the elemental and metaphysical sense. The existence of this ‘substance,’ for lack of a better term, has been postulated by scientists and philosophers from ancient cultures, traditions, and faiths which date back thousands of years. The theme has been present from Eastern mysticism/philosophy all the way into the West and esoteric philosophy.

Keep in mind we are talking about Akasha here and not the Akashic Records.

“And they allowed Apollonius to ask questions; and he asked them of what they thought the cosmos was composed; but they replied; “Of elements.” “Are there then four?” he asked. “Not four,”said Larchas,  “but five.” “And how can there be a fifth,” said Apollonius, “alongside of water and air and earth and fire?” “There is the ether,” replied the other, “which we must regard as the stuff of which gods are made; for just as all mortal creatures inhale the wire, so do immortal and divine natures inhale the ether.” “Am I,” said Appollonius, “to regard the universe as a living creature?” “Yes,” said the other. – The Life of Apollonius of Tyana, Philostratus, 220AD (source)

It’s basically the basis of all things in the material world, and in various philosophies it’s considered to be the invisible driving force behind the creation of matter. According to many it’s the source of energy for material manifestation. This is intriguing, because quantum physics has been showing that human thoughts, intentions, emotions and more could have some sort of direct effect on our physical material world.  Modern day scientific theories do not recognize the real existence of Akasha, but the fact that quantum physics has shown us that space is not empty is certainly lending more credibility to this ancient concept, in my opinion.

“The aakaash is not destructible, it is the primordial absolute substratum that creates cosmic matter and hence the properties of aakaash are not found in the material properties that are in a sense relative. The aakaash is the eternally existent, superfluid reality, for which creation and destruction are inapplicable….Our eyes are blind to the reality of spirit, scientific experiments cannot detect it directly, since our experiments can detect only the material properties which are not the attributes of Akasha.” – (Idham thadhakshare parame vyoman. The Akashic Records

What are the Akashic Records? According to various scholars in the realm of theosophy (esoteric philosophy), the Akashic Records are a kind of database which contain a record of the soul’s journey. According to Alice A. Bailey, an author of more than two dozen books on theosophical subjects:

The akashic record is like an immense photographic film, registering all the desires and earth experiences of our planet. Those who perceive it will see pictured thereon: The life experiences of every human being since time began, the reactions to experience of the entire animal kingdom, the aggregation of the thought-forms of a karmic nature (based on desire) of every human unit throughout time. Herein lies the great deception of the records. Only a trained occultist can distinguish between actual experience and those astral pictures created by imagination and keen desire.

— From Light of the Soul, “The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali – Book 3,” multiple sources on  Google

According to the late Edgar Cayce, the Akashic Records can be seen as the universe’s supercomputer, a central storage facility of all information for every individual who has ever lived throughout the cosmos. Apart from recording the events that occur in your life, they record every act, deed, word, thought, feeling, emotion, intent, and motive. Apparently, the records contain the entire history of every soul since the dawn of creation. (source)

They are records kept of a soul from the time it leaves its point of origin.

“The Edgar Cayce readings suggest that each of us writes the story of our lives through our thoughts, our deeds, and our interactions with the rest of creation. This information has an effect upon us in the here and now. In fact, the Akashic Records have such an impact upon our lives and the potentials and probabilities we draw toward us that any exploration of them cannot help but provide us with insights into the nature of ourselves and our relationship to the universe. There is much more to our lives, our histories, and our individual influence upon our tomorrows than we have perhaps dared to imagine. “(source)

Charles Webster Leadbeater, an influential member of the Theosophical Society and an author on occult subjects, has made similar claims, stating that the records hold the history of Atlantis and various other civilizations, including Lumeria.

H.P. Blavatsky (1831-1891), a Russian immigrant, mystic, and founder of the Theosophical Society, writes that the Akasha is “one of the cosmic principles and is a plastic matter, creative in its physical nature, immutable in its higher principles. It is the quintessence of all possible forms of energy, material, psychic, or spiritual; and contains within itself the germs of universal creation, which sprout forth under the impulse of the Divine Spirit.” (source)

Philosopher, educator, and founder of the Anthroposophical Society, Rudolf Steiner believed that humans (and himself) have the ability to perceive information beyond the material world. Please keep in mind that this isn’t a ‘pseudoscientific’ idea; for a selected list of downloadable peer-reviewed journal articles reporting studies of psychic phenomena, mostly published in the 21st century, you can click HERE.

Steiner writes:

Man can penetrate to the eternal origins of the things which vanish with time. A man broadens his power of cognition in this way if he is no longer limited to external evidence where knowledge of the past is concerned. Then he can see in events what is not perceptible to the senses, that part which time cannot destroy. He penetrates from transitory to non-transitory history. It is a fact that this history is written in other characters than is ordinary history. In gnosis and in theosophy it is called the “Akasha Chronicle.” . . . The one who has acquired the ability to perceive in the spiritual world comes to know past events in their eternal character. They do not stand before him like the dead testimony of history, but appear in full life. In a certain sense, what has happened takes place before him. (source)

A Description of ‘Hollow Earth’ According to Ancient Tibetan Buddhism

Shambhala is round but depicted as an eight-petalled lotus blossom, which is a symbol of the heart Chakra (represented in the picture above).

Arjun Walia | Collective Evolution

Many ancient texts refer to ‘magical’ and ‘mythical’ lands, which is fascinating, particularly when you consider how much of the writings in ancient Buddhism, Vedic philosophy, or other Eastern traditions is being confirmed by modern day science. Quantum physics in particular has gained a lot of momentum recently. One great example is the conundrum of consciousness, which is directly correlated with quantum physics and goes hand in hand with other realms of existence. Perhaps this is why some of Nikola Tesla’s ideas were influenced by ancient Eastern philosophy. Not many people know this, but most of our pioneering scientists were also mystics, including Issac Newton, who studied alchemy, among other subjects.

“Broadly speaking, although there are some differences, I think Buddhist philosophy and Quantum Mechanics can shake hands on their view of the world. We can see in these great examples the fruits of human thinking. Regardless of the admiration we feel for these great thinkers, we should not lose sight of the fact that they were human beings just as we are.”

The Dalai Lama (source)

This is precisely why we shouldn’t be so quick to dismiss other possible knowledge that remains hidden within ancient texts, especially when evidence is increasingly proving the strength of the connection between ancient wisdom and modern day knowledge.

We are surprisingly and inexplicably selective about which parts of ancient writings we hold to be true, and which we dismiss as fantasy. We might take, for example, a description of ancient Greek society written by a philosopher living at the time, such as Plato or Socrates, at face value, yet when confronted with the same philosopher’s description of an advanced ancient civilization, find some excuse to ignore it. We can take Plato’s description of things that are believable to the mind and accept them as fact, but as soon as we are confronted with something outside our known experience, our minds shut down, even in the face of mounting evidence lending credibility to many of these ‘mythical’ stories.

To read more about Plato’s description of the Lost Kingdom of Atlantis, you can refer to this article.

Several ancient texts from various traditions mention beings from ‘another world’ that exist within our own. One such world, referenced in Tibetan Buddhist and Hindu traditions, is Shambhala, which is a hidden kingdom within our own planet, a place which we do not understand and is difficult to find.

It’s a “Spiritual” Place

According to the Dalai Lama at a speech he gave in 1985 during the Kalachakra Initiations:

Although those with special affiliation may actually be able to go there through their karmic connection, nevertheless it is not a physical  place that we can actually find. We can only say that it is a pure land, a pure land in the human realm. And unless one has the merit and  the actual karmic association, one cannot actually arrive there. (sources)

This closely resembles descriptions of the spiritual principles that once guided Atlantis given by Plato and other scholars. According to Manly P. Hall, author, historian, and 33rd degree mason:

Before Atlantis sank, its spiritually illuminated Initiates, who realized that their land was doomed because it had departed from the Path of Light, withdrew from the ill fated continent. Carrying with them the sacred and secret doctrine, these Atlanteans established themselves in Egypt, where they became its first divine rulers. Nearly all the great cosmologic myths forming the foundation of the various sacred books of the world are based upon the Atlantean Mystery Rituals. (source)

And according to the modern theosophical tradition:

Sambhala, however, although no erudite Orientalist has yet succeeded in locating it geographically, is an actual land or district, the seat of the greatest brotherhood of spiritual adepts and their chiefs on earth today. From Sambhala at certain times in the history of the world, or more accurately of our own fifth root-race, come forth the messengers or envoys for spiritual and intellectual work among men.

shamEdwin Bernbaum, Ph.D., a lecturer, author, mountaineer, and scholar of comparative religion and mythology, writes that Shambhala is round but depicted as an eight-petalled lotus blossom, which is a symbol of the heart Chakra (left). He also makes it clear in his book, The Way To Shambhala, that the way is not clear. Shambhala is a physical place existing within the human realm, but it’s also a spiritual, even supernatural place, which many also believe exists within another dimension.

Michael Wood, a BBC journalist, based on his research describes it as a lost kingdom buried somewhere in the Himalayas, and writes about how  the name Shambhala first appears in a text known as the Kalachakra tantra – or Wheel of Time teaching. This Kalachakra doctrine belongs to the highest level of Buddhist Mahayana teaching.

He writes that in Shambhala, the people live in peace and harmony, and are faithful to the principles of Buddhist. In this land, war, grief and sorrow were completely unknown. According to Michael, one commentator on the Kalachakra tantra puts it like this:

The land of Shambhala lies in a valley. It is only approachable through a ring of snow peaks like the petals of a lotus … At the centre is a nine-storey crystal mountain which stands over a sacred lake, and a palace adorned with lapis, coral, gems and pearls. Shambala is a kingdom where humanity’s wisdom is spared from the destructions and corruptions of time and history, ready to save the world in its hour of need.

The prophecy of Shambala states that each of its 32 kings will rule for 100 years. As their reigns pass, conditions in the outside world will deteriorate. Men will become obsessed with war and pursue power for its own sake and materialism will triumph over all spiritual life. Eventually an evil tyrant will emerge to oppress the earth in a despotic reign of terror. But just when the world seems on the brink of total downfall and destruction, the mists will lift to reveal the icy mountains of Shambala. Then the 32nd king of Shambala, Rudra Cakrin, will lead a mighty army against the tyrant and his supporters and in a last great battle, they will be destroyed and peace restored. (source)(source)
Who Is Down There? What Evidence Do We Have?

Who really knows? Legends speak of those who have wandered to the land and never returned, or have died making the journey, while more recently, connections have been made with the UFO/extraterrestrial phenomenon. You might not know this, but UFOs are commonly tracked on air and ground radar, while simultaneously watched by the pilots who are sent out to intercept them. Thousands of documents are available for public viewing, and hundreds of high ranking whistleblowers have shared their stories. If you would like to learn more about the UFO/ET phenomenon and see some of this evidence yourself, feel free to explore the exopolitcs section of our website. As former NASA astronaut and Princeton physics professor Dr. Brian O’Leary has said, “there is abundant evidence that we are being contacted, that civilizations have been visiting us for a very long time.”

Based on my personal research into UFOs and extraterrestrials, which spans more than 10 years, stories of flying saucers coming in and out of the ocean are quite common. They are referred to as underwater submerged objects, and contactees, which today number in the millions, often speak of beings existing inside of our own planet — spiritual beings, ‘light beings’ of great intelligence.

In addition to these rumours, there are people who claim to have actually experienced this place. Admiral Richard Byrd, a high ranking officer in the United States Navy who received a medal of honour and was the very first man to fly over the South Pole, supposedly journeyed to the hollow Earth. Admiral Byrd also flew directly over the North Pole, writing that he saw an opening in the top. His diary describes his adventure into the opening, where he saw lakes, rivers, green vegetation, and more. He participated in many expeditions to the North Pole, with one being a government-backed program called operation Highjump. Organized by Admiral Byrd, its primary goal was to establish an Antarctic research base. He claims to have been greeted by a flying machine and this is when he first interacted with the beings that existed in a place that is known to many as “Agartha.” The beings told him they were concerned with the development of nuclear weapons and the overall well-being of the planet.

Nicholas Roerich (1874-1947), a well known Russian explorer, also writes of Shambhala being located in the north. He travelled through Mongolia and China to the borders of Tibet, and says that, during a conversation with a Lama, he was told that the great “Shabmhala is far beyond the ocean. It is the mighty heavenly domain. It has nothing to do with our Earth. Only in some places, in the Far North, can you discern the resplendent rays of Shambhala.” He claimed the entrance was deep in the high mountains. The Lama also told Roerich:

Shambhala is ever vigilant in the cause of mankind: he sees all the events of earth in his ‘magic mirror’ and the might of his thought penetrates into far-off lands. Uncountable are the inhabitants of Shamhala. Numerous are the splendid new forces and achievements which are being prepared there for humanity.

(Nicholas Roerich, Shambhala: In search of the new era, Rochester, VE: Inner Traditions, 1990)

Based on my research, if there is an entrance, it’s in Antarctica or deep within several mountain ranges, including the Himalayas. And one common theme about Shambhala is that its secrets are well guarded, and cannot be reached unless one is called there.

Nelson Mandela Didn’t Die in Prison, and Why it Matters

Cynthia Sue Larson

Cynthia Sue Larson

“The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated.”   – Mark Twain

If you remember seeing media coverage of Nelson Mandela having died in prison in the 1980s, and you’re wondering why he’s just this month been reported dead again, you’re in good company. Mandela is one of the most commonly discussed celebrities who has been seen alive after having been reported dead. When we personally witness disparities between events we remember having happened and what reliable physical evidence suggests has occurred, we might at first feel a sense of dissonance. Fortunately, we need not stay confused, since noticing the differences between our memories and evidence in our current reality allows us to gain valuable direct experience of how malleable reality can truly be. Recent scientific discoveries suggest it’s quite likely that both this so-called “Mandela Effect,” also known as the “Alive Again” phenomena, are not new, as shamans and spiritual teachers from every continent and age of humankind have described for millennia.

The Mechanism Behind the Mandela Effect

We are fortunate to be alive at a time when scientists from several different branches of physics are converging on the idea that we live in a holographic multiverse… AND that everything including you and me have a truly quantum nature. When we put these two big ideas together, we see the mechanism by which we can understand and appreciate how things like intuition, synchronicity, the placebo effect, and spontaneous remission can transpire.

Illustration of Holographic Multiverse from “Quantum Jumps: An Extraordinary Science of Happiness and Prosperity”

Illustration of Holographic Multiverse from “Quantum Jumps: An Extraordinary Science of Happiness and Prosperity”

Evidence supporting the concept of many parallel universes being interconnected comes from UC Berkeley’s Raphael Bousso, whose view of reality has been gaining support ever since last year’s discovery of the Higgs boson. And there is further good news for those wondering, “Where are these other parallel universes?” Some of the first hard evidence of other universes was found just this year by theoretical physicist Laura Mersini-Houghton of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Carnegie Mellon professor Richard Holman, through cosmic background radiation data collected by the European Space Agency’s Planck telescope, which indicates the presence of other external universes to our own at the very moment of the Big Bang.

What Happens in the Quantum Realm Doesn’t Stay in the Quantum Realm

In much the same way that some people prefer that “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas,” many physicists have hoped that the weirdness known to happen in the quantum realm would remain safely confined there. This appears to not be the case, as evidenced in recent ground-breaking laboratory experiments over the past few years. Increasing numbers of studies with macroscopic scale objects, such as diamonds, are consistently and repeatedly demonstrating such distinctly quantum behaviors as entanglement–which Albert Einstein once called, “spooky action at a distance.”

Related Article: Quantum Observations: Keeping Schrodinger’s Cat Alive (VIDEO)

Other behaviors previously presumed to reside exclusively within the quantum scale including: superposition of states, coherence, and teleportation are also being witnessed on the macroscopic scale. This is happening to the point that a growing consensus is beginning to form amongst physicists, such as those surveyed at a recent conference that you and I and everyone and everything around us exists in a superposition of states.

This means that in one possible reality, you have not made a decision that resulted in your catching a cold, but in another possible reality, you have. We can expect to occasionally experience quantum jumps from one possible reality to another, particularly when we are aware that such leaps are possible. These jumps from one reality to another can be a lot of fun, as some of the world’s quantum jumping experts can attest.

And who, might you ask, are the world’s quantum jumping experts? Such experts include most of the world’s top athletes, medical miracle experiencers, heroes, survivors of close brushes with death, experienced meditators, beneficiaries of the placebo effect, and people experienced with hypnosis and lucid dreaming have experienced leaps to better possible realities. These people often trust intuition, and benefit from a sense of there being a connectedness between themselves and everyone and everything else.

Evidence of Possible Futures & Pasts

As the saying goes, “extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof.” But how can we find evidence demonstrating that alternate histories occur, when typically the only “proof” we have that a change has occurred resides in our own memories? One way to collect such proof is to rapidly document peoples’ experiences immediately following highly memorable historic events like the Kennedy assassination, the Challenger space shuttle explosion, or Princess Diana’s death. Such flashbulb memories provide reference points by which the same people can later be asked about.

Researchers Ulric Neisser and Nicole Harsch at Emory University investigated flashbulb memories of students immediately following the Challenger space shuttle explosion by collecting handwritten student reactions immediately following the disaster. When they followed up two and a half years later with the very same students, Neisser and Harsch were startled to find that students’ accounts of where they were and what they were doing when they heard the news were different from what they’d initially described. One student said,“That’s my handwriting, but that’s not what happened.”

Kindness Matters

Discrepancies between memories also often appear amongst people who were all together for a particular event, but later remember what transpired very differently. Chances are pretty good that you’ve encountered disagreements with people you’d usually consider competent and aware… except for when they insist something happened some way you know for sure couldn’t be true.

If we didn’t live in a holographic multiverse in which we’re all venturing in various directions to experience a multitude of different possible futures and pasts, we wouldn’t find the tremendous divergence between peoples’ memories. As we enter the Quantum Age, it’s time that we stop calling such differences in memory “false recollections,” in favor of “alternate recollections,” indicating respect for the fact that each and every one of us exists in a superimposed state, with access to many possible alternate histories, presents, and futures.

And most importantly, it’s time we truly show respect for one another and our multitudes of alternate histories and recollections.

Quantum Observations: Keeping Schrodinger’s Cat Alive (VIDEO)

Most of us might not be able to write out Schrodinger’s equation, but many of us have at least heard of Schrodinger’s Cat. With the familiarity of this unfortunate feline, one must also be aware of the fact that anything truly IS possible; just as Quantum Mechanics shows us by demonstrating this cat can exist in multiple states simultaneously.. i.e. dead or alive.

If you are not familiar with Schrodinger’s Cat, it’s a thought experiment (that was thankfully just that and was never actually carried out), in which a cat is placed inside a box with a piece of radioactive material that may or may not decay and kill the cat within the hour. Now, after the hour passes we want to know the state of the cat. Common sense tells us there’s a 50/50 chance that the cat is either dead or alive, but in Quantum Mechanics, until we open the box and collapse the wave function by observing the cat, the cat exists in BOTH states simultaneously!

And down the rabbit hole we go…

This may sound like some whacky fairytale, but as the following video points out, Schrodinger’s Cat is quite real, and the “superposition state” (simultaneous existence) is what allows the computers we use everyday to exist!

Video Source: TED-Ed

The Schrodinger’s Cat thought experiment is an excellent reminder of how “energy flows where attention goes” and that if things go unlooked at in your life, they may remain in a constant state of flux or always feel unfinished and incomplete.

But just as atoms can exist as a wave and a particle as the same time, know that while you are part of this dualistic realm, you are not ruled by it and can collapse the wave by making a choice and choosing to looking at things in your life. When we observe the areas we most avoid, we clear the weeds and allow room for fresh vegetation to bloom. We create space and expansion for new possibilities and growth.

Perhaps the greatest lesson that fabled feline born in the mind of a brilliant Austrian physicist can teach us is this…to remember that there IS no box to begin with.

Intentionally Shifting the Mystic Morphic Field

 Zen Gardner | ZenGardner.com

Researchers found within the computer informational field what appears to be proof of foreknowledge of 9/11. The huge spike in chatter regarding the events immediately prior to the strikes is completely anomalous. In other words, it goes on to say, for it to be just a coincidence is next to impossible. No big surprise. But what about this informational field? They call this computer information world a type of “morphic field” or “information field” and it seems to be a virtual manifestation of the global mind. Not all of it of course, but the informational global mind, which at this point in history is a massive amount of generated information that’s accelerating by the hour. Something the globalists are tracking closely, trying to predict as well as direct human responses.Research in this field is also being investigated by other visionaries. By tracing trends in language using webbots that crawl the internet reading data with assigned values to various words, they’ve been able to often predict not only major events, trends and changes, but the specific nature and sometimes locations of future phenomena. It’s not an exact science by any means, but this whole field starts to show the power of the literal electromagnetic, vibrational informational mind as evidence of, or a reflection of, human consciousness, and we should pay close attention.

Language as a Manifestation of Consciousness

Language shared is clearly consciousness at work. This is our current fundamental method of communication. Perhaps general telepathy is on the horizon, but for now words backed by intention and no doubt other influences is how we understand communication.

Whichever, it only stands to reason that the greater the body of consciousness manifested, the greater the effect on the present, and hence the future. In the words of Roger Nelson, founder of the Global Consciousness Project (GCP) from his book Quantum Mind p. 57;;

My own ‘model’ is that consciousness or mind is the source or seat of a non-local, active information field (this is not a standard, well defined physical construct).  Such fields interact, usually with random phase relationship and no detectable product.  When some or many consciousness (information) fields are driven in common, or for whatever reason become coherent and resonant, they interact in phase, and create a new, highly structured information field… that becomes the source of the effects we measure. Source

Pretty profound. When the accumulated consciousness fields are driven in common or show coherency or resonance, they create a new information field.

Sound interactive? That’s the whole point…we need to get busy manifesting Truth and Love within this field.

Morphic Resonance and Quantum Physics

Taking this field changing empowerment even further, morphic field theory is the “discovery” (coming into consciousness) that there’s a dynamic at work akin to the concept of non-separability and total connectivity that quantum physics has discovered. Reminiscent of Plato’s Theory of Forms, these interactive force fields give form to not just plants, animals, crystals, planets and the like, but to behavioral and social patterns. This is similar to the evolving informational field concept described above but even more profound. It is much like  Carl Jung’s collective unconscious understanding, but even broader while on a somewhat more so-called “scientific” footing.

It is essentially touching on the effect of Universal Consciousness coming into our experiential realm and our interaction with it. But again, morphic field study is the attempt to pursue this intuitive knowledge scientifically, so called, in a quantifiable way.

All part of the continued awakening of mankind, despite the manipulations, masking and withholding of knowledge by the controllers. Now you can see why so much is hidden from us – it’s fuel for our flux capacitors!

No worries, we’re dis-covering Truth at a rate of consciousness they can’t even track.

The “Hypothesis” of Morphic Fields

The fields responsible for the development and maintenance of bodily form in plants and animals are called morphogenetic fields. In animals, the organization of behavior and mental activity depends on behavioral and mental fields. The organization of societies and cultures depends on social and cultural fields. All these kinds of organizing fields are morphic fields.

Morphic fields are located within and around the systems they organize. Like quantum fields, they work probabilistically. They restrict, or impose order upon, the inherent indeterminism of the systems under their influence. Thus, for example, a protein field organizes the way in which the chain of amino acids (the “primary structure” determined by the genes) coils and folds up to give the characteristic three-dimensional form of the protein, “choosing” from among many possible structures, all equally possible from an energetic point of view. Social fields coordinate the behavior of individuals within social groups, for example, the behavior of fish in schools or birds in flocks.

Pretty amazing..

Whatever the explanation of its origin, once a new morphic field – a new pattern of organization – has come into being, its field becomes stronger through repetition. The same pattern becomes more likely to happen again. The more often patterns are repeated, the more probable they become. The fields contain a kind of cumulative memory and become increasingly habitual. Fields evolve in time and form the basis of habits. From this point of view, nature is essentially habitual. Even the so-called laws of nature may be more like habits. Source

This Is How The Lying Matrix Thrives – and How We Can Dissolve It

Social engineers for eons have known this underlying dynamic in their own terms. The latest rash of modern psychopathic societal designers identified these causal and potentially liberating or captivating trends at whatever level of understanding, and set in place educational and society-modifying mechanisms to keep humanity from spontaneous, self-supporting growth centuries ago.

Left to our own we would naturally be drawing from consciousness new and beneficial “memes” or morphic fields to develop and help humanity, and not extinguish and control it like our current overlords of darkness.

In other words: we’ve been sterilized, castrated, knee-capped, lobotomized and asphyxiated from the Truth and Knowledge of who we truly are and our incredible power to manifest and shape a loving, conscious world around us.

As long as we let them fill the airwaves, ground waves and mind waves with their limiting, manipulative, oppressive and distracting propaganda and electromagnetic crap and don’t activate vibrational Truth to reverse the trend, society is literally being pushed off the map of true human awareness into the maw of a mental and social meat grinder.

It’s Up to Us

It’s entirely up to each of us what we do with this amazing energetic system. We can harm or we can heal. We can go along with the status quo or we change it. It will simply reflect whatever is put into it in its own fascinating way, and is doing its job at all times whether we acknowledge it or not.

It’s there for intentional use if you choose. We’re eternal consciousness connected to everything, yet we’re free agents to choose good and Truth and Love, or darkness, selfishness, hate and greed.

The beauty of this knowledge is the realization that every letter you write, every item you blog, every word you speak, every thought you think, every prayer or intention you utter, every loving or non-loving deed, every decision to do the right thing or not…EVERYTHING….is forming the world in which we live… societal, informational and the underlying morphic world which we all share.

Every time someone watches mindless TV, gets spellbound by things like Hollywood or war programming, or entertains the Matrix meme in any way, they are supporting and perpetrating the death-dealing, humanity perverting lie.

While on the contrary…

The Internet Highway of Information and Transformation

Every time you blog with good and helpful information, forward an inspiring or truth-revealing article, post an idea or uplifting message, encourage a fellow activist in their efforts, do a kind or loving deed or reach out and shake someone up, or maybe gather with your local community to enact meaningful change…EVERY TIME…you are changing the morphic field…for the better! All while subtracting from a negative imprint by other influences.

Which will it be?

Will we contribute to the wake up, or be part of the problem? It’s a continual choice. There’s no standing still. Either way we all affect it.

It’s that simple. That serious, that real…and that liberating.

Listen to the Skies: More about Musical Astrology

By Jill Mattson | * Jill’s Wings of Light

In astrology the aspects of planet’s can be represented as musical chords… two or three notes played in unison. Sometimes these tones blend well and sound good, while at other times they do not. When they sound bad – note they will be challenging energy.

Scientist Johannes Kepler in the 1600s established correlations between astrological-aspects and consonances-of-music. A trine, is an aspect of planets in which they are 120 degrees apart and looks like they are arranged in a triangle. This creates a relationship of 360:240 or 3/2, which is the mathematical equivalent of a musical fifth.

If the frequencies of several planets sound dissonant or nasty to you, perhaps there is another tone to blend with them so they sound harmonious. This transforms a challenging horoscope to a pleasant one! In another application of this idea, if you meet a person who annoys you, can analyze their birth tones and select another tone that enables you to harmonize with them. Sing or hum this tone and watch your feelings about this person change.

In ancient times, when people analyzed a child’s astrology to select a marriage partner, they were seeing if their fundamental tones were harmonious, making a marriage a positive experience! Music and subtle energy of the stars can be useful in a surprising number of ways!

I found another approach to playing with star tones to bring more harmony into your life! In an excellent book by Ted Andrews, Sacred Sounds, he describes ways to play with musical astrology! (Using the first chart in this series.) Ted calculates the tones of an opposition (of the sun and the moon). These planets can be represented by the tones E for the sun and D# for the moon. These two tones when played together – sound discordant – really nasty. Since this particular opposition sounds badly it indicates difficulty in harmonizing the inner and outer aspects of ourselves. In order to improve this energy that weighs us down, we should:

“1. Emphasize Mercury energies in our chart. If there is to be an outer expression of the self (sun) let it be through communication. Mercury has a tone of F, which is more harmonious with the moon tone of D#. This would help you communicate and bring out internal (moon) feelings through communication. Be careful not to internalize all feelings and thoughts. In summary, a tone was added to the tonal mix of influential planets to make it sound more harmonious and provide a solution to the difficult energy.

Another method of using music to bring harmony to this negative energy of the opposition would be by emphasizing Jupiter and Neptune energies (the tones associated with G# and B). When played together with the sun and the moon, they create an E7 chord – much nicer sounding and better energy! The energies associated with the planets in this chart harmonize well together, manifesting a positive expression of energy so that the sun and moon would not block each other.

In summary, Ted plays the musical notes associated with the planets together. If they sound badly, they provide challenging or negative energy Influences. He adds another tone to even and smooth out the sound! Next he notices the planets and what they represent. Finally, he makes a suggestion of how someone’s actions could also facilitate the resolution of difficult energies.

Doctor Discovers Telepathic Abilities in Multiple Autistic Children

By Arjun Walia | Collective Evolution

What we label as autism covers a vast spectrum. One autistic child may be able to communicate perfectly and perform normal daily life tasks, while others can barely move, and still others can’t communicate at all. You also have children under this label known as autistic “savants” who show extraordinary abilities.  This is why it’s more commonly referred to as autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

Some savants are able to perform extreme mathematical calculations in their head, similar to a calculator or computer, and others have remarkable artistic ability spanning across a variety of subjects. The list of abilities seen in savants is long, and one ability that could one day be added to that list is telepathy.

Unfortunately, it’s commonly believed that the autistic children who lack movement and communication are ‘not there.’ Yet some evidence suggests they are not only aware, but have greater mental abilities than the average person. The communication barrier may be preventing them from sharing that with us, but perhaps we’ve been missing something?

Although often ridiculed, many scientists have been studying and publishing papers on human telepathy for decades, making some unbelievable observations with statistically significant results. In fact, in 1999 a statistics professor at UC Irvine published a paper showing that parapsychological experiments have produced much stronger results than those showing a daily dose of aspirin helps prevent a heart attack.

Some more examples will be provided later in the article, but for now, if you’d like to see a selected list of downloadable peer-reviewed journal articles reporting studies of psychic phenomena, mostly published in the 21st century, you can click here.

Telepathy is one ability included in the parapsychology group. Others include remote viewingnear death experiences (NDEs), and out of body experiences (OBEs).

Evidence For Telepathy Among Some Nonverbal Autistic Children

Diane Powell, M.D, is an author, public speaker, researcher, and practicing neuropsychiatrist. Her education is extensive, and she’s worked with some of the best minds of the century, including several Nobel laureates. She studied biophysics and neuroscience during her undergraduate years,  has worked in neurochemistry, and attended John Hopkins School of Medicine. She co-published research on the genetics of Alzheimer’s Disease with Marshal Folstein and did neuroscience research in Joseph Coyle’s laboratory. After receiving her medical degree in 1983, she stayed at Johns Hopkins to complete postdoctoral training in medicine, neurology, and psychiatry. In July 1987, Dr. Powell joined the faculty at Harvard Medical School, where she taught neuropsychiatry and gained experience in cross-cultural psychiatry and mind-body medicine. She moved in July 1989 to engage in molecular biology research at the University of California at San Diego during the Human Genome Project.

She has always been interested in human consciousness, particularly in the special abilities these gifted children have and how they are helping to grow our understanding about the mysteries of consciousness.

In January 1987 she trained for six months at The Institute of Psychiatry in London, England with Sir Michael Rutter, who was knighted for his work on autism.

This is a short summary of an impressive and lengthy CV, but it’s important to show that the list of  credible researchers in this field long and growing. “Extended human capacities,” as the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) defines them, and parapsychology, are serious subjects.

Dr. Powell’s work with non-verbal autistic children has shown strong evidence for telepathic abilities. The video below is one example of a test she conducted with multiple nonverbal autistic children. This particular child achieved a 100 percent hit rate, and in total average, the children achieved a group hit rate of 90 percent.

Powell explains in the video that she wants to further study these children: “I want to go back and I want to film Haley under ideal scientific conditions. There are also several other children across the globe who demonstrate a similar phenomenon. I want  to go and document them as well.”

“The day science begins to study non-physical phenomena, it will make more progress in one decade than in all the previous centuries of its existence.”

– Nikola Tesla

In the mid 1960s, Montague Ullman, MD, began a number of experiments at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York to test the hypothesis that people could be primed to dream about randomly selected material. In other words, they could choose what they wanted to dream about before going to sleep, and this could include anything, from artwork to movies to photographs and more. Shortly after these experiments began, Ullman was joined by Stanley Krippner, who holds an impressive background in the scientific study of dreams, psychology, and parapsychology. The experiments they conducted spanned more than 10 years, During the experiments, there was usually a “telepathic sender” and a “telepathic receiver.”

You can read more about this here.

More recently, in the mainstream scientific world, scientists developed the technology to communicate telepathically. This is not the same as true telepathy, as it is technologically assisted, but it still marks a stepping stone toward opening the minds of more people to the idea of telepathy in general. It’s almost comical how much evidence exists for this phenomenon, and it’s frustrating that modern day scientific definitions limit what we can accept as real, no matter how obvious the existence of something may sometimes be.

Here is another interview with Dr. Powell answering questions from students at the 57th Annual Convention of the Parapsychological Association, and below is another interesting, possible example of human telepathy in an autistic child seen by Dr. Powell.

May the Force Be With You – Bruce Lipton on Quantum Physics and Your Jedi Role

Source: Bruce Lipton

Dr. Bruce Lipton returns from a long time ago, in a galaxy far away to deliver an important message to you!

Creative Evolution Episode 11: Rise of the Imaginal Cells

The world is in a state of upheaval. Humanity faces the 6th mass extinction of life on the Earth, and people everywhere are waking up to a new reality.

Amidst the global crises, human beings are learning to reprogram their limiting beliefs, and bring an end to The Empire’s ultimate weapon: FEAR ITSELF!

Science now reveals how we are masters of our genes. Dr. Bruce Lipton travels the galaxy teaching people the truth about the field consciousness, and how the power of love can restore balance to the force.

Bruce Lipton (transcript):

Damn mosquitoes [as he swats at them with his lightsaber].

Hi dear friends and cultural creatives. I just returned from a long time ago and a galaxy far, far away to deliver this important message to you: May the force be with you.

Force? What they were really talking about was the field. As we now know from the nature of quantum physics, the entire universe is made out of energy. In quantum physics we call this energy ‘the field.’ And, it’s the field that gives shape to the material world.

As Albert Einstein said: “The field is the sole governing agency of the particle.”

The particle IS matter. The significance of this message is profound! Because as you understand, you are creating the world you live in by engaging the field: the field of consciousness, the field of thought.

So, your life, your expression, the world that we see is the result of energy shaping us. And, the point about it is this: you, cultural creatives, know about that energy and the source of that power.

It’s up to you to recognize that we can shape the world into a better place. Get out the extinction that is looming above us, and create a world that we can survive in.

No! No!

Create a world that we can THRIVE in, too! Because, you are the Jedi of today’s world. You are the one who can take the light and shape it into something more wonderful, exciting, and enjoyable than the way the light is being used today.

So, we’re depending on you to understand the nature of this physics. Because your thoughts, your beliefs, and your attitudes (the energy of your brain) – is not shaping just your body – but it’s shaping the world that you experience.

If you don’t like the way the world looks right now, you can change it as a Jedi, as a cultural creative. You are empowered to use your mind to create a better world for yourself, and for all of us that surround you.

So, my message: May the Field Be With YOU.

Time Crystals Are Real – And What They Can Do Might Change Everything

By Jake Anderson | TheAnti-Media.org

When I first heard the term “time crystal,” the science fiction geek in me reached out to the universe to confirm that something so cool could actually exist. And the universe responded by bestowing peer-reviewed studies by two different teams of physicists. I just wanted to know that time crystals were real; I had little concern for what they actually were or the revolutionary application in which they may play a pivotal role.

As I looked into it, I started seeing phrases like “non-equilibrium state of matter” and “discrete time-crystalline order in a disordered dipolar many-body system.” My enthusiasm didn’t wane, but I did find myself frequently sighing and scratching my head.

The first hurdle I had to overcome was the fact that the two different research teams had created time crystals using two completely different processes and materials. The Harvard-based team had used a synthetic diamond to create an artificial lattice. The Maryland team had used a chain of charged ytterbium ion particles. Obviously, I had no idea what either of these meant. I just knew that the end result was a time crystal, which my imagination rendered as some kind of glistening, iridescent, Escher-like gem hurtling through a wormhole at the speed of light.

Not quite. More like a low-energy quantum state that repeats itself in both space and time.

The idea for time crystals was first proposed in 2012 by physicist and Nobel laureate Frank Wilczek, who spoke theoretically of a space-time, four-dimensional quantum phenomenon that would break the “time-translation symmetry.” See, there they go again with their arcane phrases.

According to Wilczek, “The spontaneous formation of a time crystal represents the spontaneous emergence of a clock.”

Time crystals are an entirely new state of matter that can repeat their atomic structure in time and maintain oscillation without energy. This has major implications for the still-nascent field of quantum supercomputing, which many see as the next generation of computers.

Quantum supercomputers will use the quantum phenomenon of “superposition” in the form of qubits, rather than the traditional 1s and 0s of today’s computers. Because quantum computers will operate at the atomic level, where particles can exist in two different places simultaneously, it is believed qubits will be able to function at an exponentially accelerated rate. Many scientists believe this will allow complex calculations to be performed thousands, perhaps millions, of times quicker.

Going Down the “Rabbit Hole” of ET Encounters with Alexis Brooks and Rey Hernandez

Alexis speaks with the co-founder of “FREE” about his own ET encounters and the research into contact experiences that’s changing the way we look at “abduction.”

ET Encounters. It seems the rabbit hole is bottomless when it comes to this phenomenon!

The story you are about to hear, to some of you, may sound – way out there and to others, completely real.

Rey Hernandez, an ET experiencer and co-founder of FREE which stands for The Foundation for Research into Extraterrestrial Encounters thought he was losing his mind, literally, until he realized something much bigger was going on. After a series of strange encounters that both he AND his family became entangled with, Rey set out on a course to understand the basis for all of the high strangeness that was surrounding him. Synchronistically, he was guided to ET researcher Mary Rodwell, as well as the late astronaut and physicist Dr. Edgar Mitchell, or should I say, THEY were guided to him. Through these relationships, along with his own experiences, Rey was about to change his life in ways he’d never imagined. And this is how the organization FREE was born. Listen to this fascinating story!

Intriguing points from this episode include:

  • The link between extraterrestrial reality, paranormal phenomena and the spirit world (including “shadow beings.”)
  • ET mind control. Whose involved and why does it happen?
  • The connection between ET encounters and near-death experiences (NDE’s). Is their a common thread?
  • A first-hand account of “de-materialization.”

Quantum, Chaos or Relativity: Which Persona-Reality Theory Are You?

Physics is an amazing branch of science in and of itself, but when we relate it to the human personality type it can get even awesome-er. It is here we see bits of ourselves in this all-encompassing, multi-faceted, many-branched faculty of understanding the reality of our working world. And in surprising ways, it offers some pretty cool insight into understanding ourselves.

According to Quantum Theory, if we simply rely on “common sense” to understand the nature of reality, we refuse ourselves the chance to see the whole picture; which takes a bit of being open to…well, a little bit of weirdness. It says that our rational minds simply cannot perceive the ultimate truth of reality and to even begin to understand, we need to expand, go deeper and think outside of the box. In fact, we need to go past the idea there even is a box; out past our own intuition and perceptions of the universe. Quantum Theory works as long as it remains incomplete, for it is one theory whose existence heavily relies on what we have yet to discover about the working relationships of the “physical” world from quarks to quasars. Quantum Theory invites us to push science to the edge of reality and pries open the door for spiritual concepts to intertwine with the laws of physics.

Quantum Persona-Reality: You tend to be open-minded and willing to explore new ideas. You are will to try new things and enjoy a balance life of peace and adventure. You take bits and pieces from various sources and use what works for you to make sense of things. You like to bring things together. You can see the beauty within a paradox. You tend to feel connected to everything and everyone and believe you are a vital part of something greater; a drop in the cosmic ocean.

How to Have a More “Quantum” Life: Embrace your weirdness and your unique talents and abilities and how they make you a special part of the whole of existence. Be willing to question all that you’ve been taught. Look at your beliefs to ensure they are truly your own and discard those that do not serve you. See how others reflect back to you, that which you feel most about yourself. Realize that the answers we seek are always within us and sometimes it’s just about asking the right questions.

Chaos Theory is the science of surprises. It studies that which is unpredictable and nonlinear; unconstrained to specific predetermined guidelines. And while some may think it refers to randomness, it would more accurately be described as an apparent randomness. Often referred to as “Fractal Mathematics”, Chaos Theory is like the anarchist theory of reality. What is awesome about it, however, is the order it reveals within in a system, no matter how complex (or small) that system may be. For instance, if we run simple equations on a computer in large enough numbers, we begin to see patterns emerge. The most famous of these patterns is represented in the fractals produced by the Mandelbrot set. What we know as “The Butterfly Effect” also illustrates Chaos Theory in stating that a butterfly flapping its wings in Brazil could ultimately set off a tornado in Texas. This is a perfect example of a small system being responsible for the ultimate creation of a distant and much larger system.

Chaos Persona-Reality: You tend to go against the grain and do not conform to the constraints of society. Some might call you a rebel. You are most likely a creative free-thinker, out-spoken and strong-willed. You are not afraid to get your hands dirty. You tend to have a voice that attracts attention and do well in leadership roles. Justice and integrity are quite important to you. You may like abstract art or beatnik poetry. You tend to be anxious if forced to abide by too many rules or expectations.

How to Have a More “Chaotic” Life: Take more leaps of faith and push yourself to try new things. Use your voice to express your ideas, wants and needs to the world. Don’t be afraid to make messes. Start a hobby where you can get your creative juices flowing. Take a speaking class. Network with people you normally wouldn’t to broaden your horizons. Visit art museums. Volunteer for a good cause. Live out loud!

Einstein’s Theory of Relativity unified time and space. And it was the pretense for what would go on to be nearly 30 years of his life spent trying to develop a unified theory that explained all of the forces of nature. While Einstein admittedly had a deep spiritual sense and belief in God, he was also firm in his stance that the world was fully accessible to the reason within the human mind. And Einstein, while self-confined to the tangible, workable mathematics of physics, was not afraid to stretch and expand them, although he insisted they keep walking a straight linear path of reason. He was the first to unite the force of gravity with the introduction of a fourth dimension into his equations, and was a pioneer as he laid the groundwork for future physicists working on understanding what we know to be “black holes”.  But because of his unwavering refusal to abandon his work on finding a unified theory, many of his peers went so far to dismiss his work as a waste of time and even called him a fool for trying. Years later, we now see scientists all over the world re-opening his case, with the birth of string theory.

Relative Persona-Reality: You tend to stick to your gut and have been said to be “stuck in your ways”. You are opinionated and will fight for what you believe in stubbornly. You usually have to see things to believe them. You tend to be more of an observer; an introvert, but if asked your opinion, will not hesitate to take the spotlight. You have great attention to detail and like things planned out. You are analytical and have a hard time changing your mind. You do not give up and work very hard for things you believe in.

How to Have a More “Relative” Life: Learn to self-motivate and not expect encouragement from others. Don’t be afraid to like something, just because it’s unpopular. Stick to your guns and do not be so easily swayed by the opinions of others. Be willing to speak up and share your opinions and ideas, even if people criticize you. Ground yourself daily so you can better focus on tasks at hand.

“Amazingly when you add life and consciousness to the equation, you can actually explain some of the biggest puzzles of science.” – Robert Lanza

The Three Dimensions of Time

Owen K. Waters | Waking Times

“If I only had Time.”

That’s what the Creator thought while mulling over the design stage of the Creation.

Time is necessary so that experience can be gained from choices taken and changes made at an appropriate pace for learning.

In the Great Here and Now which is the underlying reality of Infinite Being, time as we know it does not exist. Any change has an instantaneous effect. Therefore, in order to enjoy the adventure of immersion in a physical universe, Infinite Being and its Creator aspect needed the dimensional property that we call Time.

The popular concept of dimensions today is that we live in a four-dimensional world – 3 dimensions of space and one of time. However, the Law of Creation points to a different reality. As you might know from our recent Spiritual Laws of Life course or our free mini-course, The Power of Cosmic Cycles, the Law of Creation has three components and a tendency to self-replicate.

There is one Creator, organized into three aspects – Intention, Attraction, and Motion – and the dimensional properties of matter are created by each of those aspects creating three varieties of itself. Three times three varieties means that there are a total of nine dimensional properties of matter.

Time is one of the nine dimensional properties of physical matter. Another is Space. Because of the Law of Creation’s tendency to self-replicate, there are, furthermore, three varieties or directions of Space – commonly expressed as length, breadth, and height.

Now… get this… as well as three varieties of Space, there are three varieties of Time!

Sacred Science Shines Light on New Areas of Modern Physics

Tom Bunzel | CollectiveEvolution

In a recent attempt to understand how conventional physics “explains” reality, I began to read Lawrence Krauss’ A Universe from Nothing

Krauss is one of those famous scientists like Richard Dawkins who doesn’t find anything strange about the fact that existence IS.

Instead he takes EVERYTHING for granted and attacks, like Dawkins and Bill Maher, the low hanging fruit of organized religion and its dogmatic, unproven Gods created in our image.

When I tried reading his book I got a bit frustrated and then checked the index for the word “consciousness,” and when I did not find it, I put the book aside.

The question really is – “what” exactly is “nothing.”

First and foremost it is a concept.  Nothing does not exist.  What exists is, well, everything.

Nothing is the word or placeholder we use for null – similar to zero in math – but in both cases (words and math) they are human abstractions or interpretations of Nature.  As such they are a step removed from reality and flawed by the limitations of our own perceptions  and consciousness – a fact that escapes many modern physicists but which was in fact apparent to great thinkers like Einstein and Schrodinger.

As I’ve noted, we can use the concept “infinitely large” to “understand” the truth about number – that there is always something greater – and yet, for example, while we know what a prime number is, and we know that there must ALWAYS be one larger, we are incapable of going to the “next” larger prime without – now – a supercomputer.  We can’t identify the greatest prime, but we can inadequately describe it as “infinite,” and as soon as we do we know that, yes, there must be another.

How he finds geometry within a vacuum, or what science deems to be “nothing,” is similar in my view to finding code (DNA) running in our cells.

His description of a mathematical geometric structure potentially at the heart of nature (or a vacuum – or “nothing”) that has energy flowing equally in all (infinite) directions is to me very dramatic.

It “resonates” profoundly (Nassim’s website is the Resonance Academy) with the notion of dimensions which was described in a recent article on similar thinkers.

What I loved about the video above is how it directly supports the notion of “As Above So Below” in the same way propounded by Rodney Collin – that 3D may be infinite at a lower scale; that is perceived as a line a level below (2D) and as a point (one dimension) from another level “lower (1D).”

(So that, for example, what we deem “infinite” as the Universe is limited in our view (by our instruments) to a perspective related to our relative (smaller) scale.  A year for us is but a moment for the Sun, or more accurately its relatively shorter movement in its scale).

Nassim also relates this sacred geometry to nature, pointing out the ubiquity of Phi (the Fibonacci sequence) in how life manifests, among many other examples, and of course relating both Phi and Pi to the ancient monuments of Egypt and other civilizations that did not suffer from our own myopic scientific constraints.

Here is a wonderful description of this phenomenon, known as “Vector Equilibrium:

“It was Buckminster Fuller who discovered the significance of the full vector symmetry in 1917 and called it the Vector Equilibrium in 1940. With all vectors being exactly the same length and angular relationship, from an energetic perspective, the VE represents the ultimate and perfect condition wherein the movement of energy comes to a state of absolute equilibrium, and therefore absolute stillness and nothingness.”

The Next Big Bang: Human Consciousness & the Universe’s Ultimate Secret

Jim Stempel | New Dawn

The stream of human knowledge is heading toward a non-physical reality. The universe begins to look more like a great thought than a great machine.
– Sir James Jeans

For at least two hundred years science has been telling us that any ideas of spirituality we might hold dear are little more than ignorant leftovers of a superstitious past – foolish relics. But the truth is, physics itself, that most foundational of all sciences, has now progressed far beyond that initial, dismissive assessment, to a conceptual worldview far more accepting of spirituality than ever before. To grasp the nuts and bolts of this new science, then, is to understand the nuts and bolts that support a new, evolving and far more sophisticated grasp of spirit than has ever before been available to us.

This new conceptual framework is absolutely critical to our grasp of spirit, and, frankly, for those previously unfamiliar with the discoveries of modern physics, this new framework may at first seem nothing short of “other worldly” itself – as the old saying goes, the truth can at times be far stranger than fiction. So let’s start by taking a close look at what the new physics has to tell us.

In 1964 the scientific world was literally turned on its head by a new theorem, but very few at the time understood just what had taken place. Indeed, so astounding were the material, philosophical, and spiritual implications of this assertion that it would soon be referred to as “the most profound discovery in science.”1 Yet even today, few beyond a small community of physicists have come to grips with its meaning. The conceptual implications for particle physics were so extreme that for decades after its announcement many within the scientific community resisted its implications, as do some resist them to this day.

The theoretical contentions offered in 1964 have been confirmed and replicated in laboratories across the globe on numerous occasions, and today there is no question that the original assertion was correct. This monumental insight is called Bell’s theorem, and the sea change it caused in physics is still being digested as I write. So central is Bell’s theorem to our understanding of the physical universe, how it functions, and what that means for us as human beings, that to grasp its implications is crucial for anyone interested in the science that today enables us to envision universal processes as far more than simply material phenomena. Yet, simultaneously, to truly grasp the new reality Bell’s theorem implies, it is essential that we first understand the old reality it so violently overturned.

Today many within the scientific community believe that our modern science – that is, the science of observation and testing, of the scientific method – was inaugurated in the seventeenth century when Galileo Galilei first pointed his homemade telescope toward the heavens and started poking around. How did this new science differ from previous approaches to the study of physical phenomena? Dr. Dean Radin, Laboratory Director at the Institute of Noetic Sciences in Petaluma, California explains:

“Classical physics began in the seventeenth century when pioneers such as Italian mathematician Galileo Galilei, French philosopher Rene Decartes, German astronomer Johannes Kepler, and English mathematician (and alchemist) Isaac Newton advanced a new idea. The idea was that through experiments one could learn about Nature, and with mathematics, describe and predict it. Thus rational empiricism was born. Classical physics was extended and substantially refined in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries by luminaries like James Clerk Maxwell, Albert Einstein, and hundreds of other scientists.”2

This physics – called classical, or Newtonian, or material physics – has made an enormous contribution to our understanding of the universe we inhabit, and as a result has had a profoundly positive effect upon the overall human condition. Food production, health services, economics, education, transportation, etc., etc., have all been vastly improved as a result of scientific applications made available through analysis and testing. No doubt, material science has been a boon to human kind.

Initially, this new science looked outward as had Galileo toward the planets and stars for answers regarding how the universe worked and the matter by which it was constructed. Larger and better telescopes were developed in order to augment this process, and today, of course, spacecraft have been constructed that fly to points distant enough to inspect and photograph distant terrestrial bodies. As a result, a great deal has been learned.

In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries enormous strides were made in terms of our understanding, not only of the greater cosmos, but also of the physics by which it functions. Most of the planets, their orbits, and their relationship with the sun were established early on. The mathematical calculations for all of this fit nicely within the prevailing understanding, or model, of the universe, and all of these findings both confirmed and augmented our grasp of Newtonian physics.

The Emergence of Quantum Physics

Still, despite all the advances, there were some oddities that did not quite fit. In 1801, for instance, British physicist Thomas Young conducted a “double-slit” experiment in an attempt to deduce the true nature of light. Prior to that, it was assumed that light was composed of small particles of matter, but the result of Young’s experiment seemed clearly to indicate that light was in fact a wave. It was presumed, as a consequence, that light waves would require some sort of medium in order to propagate (conceptualised as a luminiferous ether or ether “wind”), and the search for this medium was promptly initiated. Physics soldiered on essentially unruffled by all of this, however, still confident in its overall grasp of the universe. But this subtle medium, despite numerous attempts at detection, remained elusive.

As a result, light continued to be a thorn in the side of Newtonian physics, thus it was naturally toward the study of light that much attention became focused. In 1900, for instance, American physicist Max Planck developed a mathematical model that demonstrated that light appeared to exist as distinct bursts or “packets” of matter. Planck named these packets “quanta” after the Latin quantus, which translates as essentially “how much.” Planck’s discovery proved the birth of what we today call quantum physics – that is, the study of that group of infinitely small particles that ultimately comprise all matter. Then, in 1905, Albert Einstein, an unknown physicist at the time working as a patent clerk in Switzerland, clearly demonstrated the validity of Plank’s quanta, but it was a proof that also allowed that light had to have both wave and particle characteristics – a perplexing side issue.

Quantum understanding snowballed rapidly. Dean Radin tells us that, “Danish physicist Niels Bohr showed how the quantum concept could explain the structure of the atom (1922 Nobel Prize). In 1924, Louis de Broglie proposed that matter also has wavelike properties (1929 Nobel Prize). In 1926, Erwin Schrodinger developed a wave-equation formulation of quantum theory (1933 Nobel Prize).”3 Our insight into quantum mechanics was accelerating rapidly, but, despite all the progress, the seemingly dual nature of light remained a vexing problem. Was light comprised of particles or waves? No one could say.

The Big Bang Theory

Meanwhile, additional progress was being made at the observatory by looking in the opposite direction – far out into the depths of the universe. In 1929, as an example, by carefully analysing the red shifts (observed light frequencies) of distant galaxies, American astronomer Edwin Hubble demonstrated that the universe was expanding. An expanding universe was evidence contrary to the Steady State theory of the universe, or a universe that was essentially constant and eternal. Hubble’s finding also suggested that our universe, since it was now seen to be expanding, may naturally have had a beginning; that is, a moment when all that matter had been consolidated in a single point before it started to expand.

Over time this “beginning” became conceptualised as what we today call the Big Bang theory of the universe, or a moment when the material universe emerged from a background of utter nothingness in an enormous burst of heat, light, and matter. The name actually came from British astronomer Fred Hoyle, who quipped one day on British radio that the theory sounded like little more than a “Big Bang,” and while this was stated in jest, the term stuck, nevertheless. The Big Bang theory postulates that the universe emerged from a “singularity” (a point of infinite density, which remains, frankly, beyond our current physics to explain or, as humourist Terry Pratchett once quipped, “In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded”) some 13.8 billion years ago as an incredibly small and incredibly hot point of matter. According to the theory, this material then inflated, expanded then cooled over time allowing for the formation of light elements like hydrogen and helium. Due to a slightly uneven distribution of matter throughout the universe, gravitational attraction then began to consolidate these elements into clouds which over eons formed the stars, planets and galaxies that comprise the celestial panorama we observe today in our night time sky.

Evidence supporting the Big Bang theory of creation then began to accumulate. This evidence included the original “red shift” Hubble discovered, the discovery of cosmic microwave background radiation (which had been predicted as a residual product from the heat of the initial inflation), and more recent red shift observations of distant supernovae indicating that the expansion of the universe is actually accelerating (and which suggest the existence of dark matter in substantial quantities as the driving force behind this acceleration).

This explanation of the Big Bang is, to say the least, a very brief and general summary of a vast and complex event, but it serves our purposes by bringing us forward conceptually to the year 1964, and the model of the universe that was prevalent at the time Bell’s Theorem made its shocking appearance (minus the dark matter, which was theorised later).

The truth of the matter is, however, while the Big Bang theory provided the universe with both a beginning and a direction, it did not alter the assumption that the universe was fundamentally a material phenomena; a belief central to modern science ever since Galileo had peered through his telescope. History tells us, as an example, that when asked by Napoleon Bonaparte in the early years of the nineteenth century as to why his most recent treatise did not mention the existence of God, the great French scientist Pierre-Simon Laplace was said to have remarked, “I had no need of that hypothesis.” Later, and likewise, Laplace explained to an admiring audience that, “We may regard the present state of the universe as the affect of its past, and the cause of the future.” In other words, Laplace, along with almost all other scientists at the time, believed that the universe was little more than a vast, material machine, driven by physical forces, and nothing more. If, for instance, you could determine the position and direction of every particle in the universe at any given point in time, it would be possible, at least theoretically, to crank that picture forward or backward, observing as you did every event that had taken place in the past while accurately predicting every event that would take place in the future. This view therefore supported the notion of a deterministic universe, and a universe that was devoid of either free will or human consciousness as a result.

Importantly, this understanding, or model, of the universe rested on certain suppositions that were accepted as true and universal by material physics down through the years simply because the universe appeared to function in accordance with them. The Big Bang was conceptualised as the beginning of an entirely material process that had evolved over eons in accordance with the known parameters of Newtonian (or classical, reductionist, or material) physics. In that sense, the universe was still perceived essentially as a vast, physical mechanism, a machine that was now understood to be a bit more complex than it had been conceived during the earlier days of, say, Pierre-Simon Laplace one hundred and fifty years before, but differing now only in terms of its sophistication, not its fundamental nature. Thus Laplace’s statements regarding the absence of God and the predictive power of the original conditions still held true as far as modern physics was concerned.

The universe was also considered to be a true, functioning reality, and a reality that, having been put in motion by a natural (although inexplicable) occurrence, remained utterly deterministic, events formed and driven forward in time, no longer by the unseen hand of God, but by random particle collisions alone. All events occurred due only to the action of physical forces in contact or proximity with one another, and no force, field, or matter could – according to Einstein’s calculations – ever travel faster than the speed of light. But the wave/particle nature of light still remained an intellectual conundrum that, much like one rotten apple, threatened to subvert the entire structure of physics if not sensibly accounted for.

‘Uncertainty Principle’ Neuters Newtonian Physics

Still, as far as the quantum theory was concerned, great new strides were being made. Physicist Nick Herbert tells us, for instance, that, “By the late [nineteen] twenties physicists had constructed a quantum theory adequate to their needs: they possessed, thanks to the work of Heisenberg, Schrodinger, and Dirac, rough mathematical tools that organised their quantum facts to a remarkably accurate degree. At this point Hungarian-born world-class mathematician John von Neumann entered the picture. Von Neumann put physicists’ crude theory into more rigorous form, settling quantum theory into an elegant mathematical home called ‘Hilbert space’, where it resides to this day, and awarded the mathematician’s seal of approval to the physicists brand-new theory of matter.”4

But the enigma of light continued to plague quantum theory, and it is precisely here where the old physics of determinism and cause and effect began to unravel. In 1927, for instance, German physicist Werner Heisenberg authored his now famous uncertainty principle, the intellectual consequences of which did great mischief to Newtonian physics. Heisenberg was at the time attempting to measure the precise speed and position of a particle in order to predict its future position – a process that should have been entirely within the accepted parameters of Newtonian physics. But Heisenberg discovered that this could not be done. British physicist Stephen Hawking tells us that Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle indicated unequivocally that “the more accurately you try to measure the position of the particle, the less accurately you can measure its speed, and vice versa.” This finding sent shock waves rippling through physics. “Moreover,” Hawking tells us, “this limit does not depend on the way in which one tries to measure the position or velocity of the particle, or on the type of particle: Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle is a fundamental, inescapable property of the world.”5

In a very real sense, Heisenberg’s principle delivered a body blow to Newtonian physics. Because, if the precise state of the universe was impossible to measure at any given moment, then any state either before or after was also impossible to calculate. It was as simple as that. Laplace had been wrong. Determinism, material cause and effect, even the forward moving arrow of time surely appeared to be “on the ropes.” Suddenly, many of the underlying presumptions upon which classical physics rested had seemingly evaporated into thin air due to Heisenberg’s principle. What was going to replace them? Moreover, what did Heisenberg’s findings actually mean? How could it be that aspects of the material universe were, had always been, and would always be, utterly beyond our ability to measure?

And there was still more damage as a result of Heisenberg’s new principle. Because, if particles could not be clearly defined in terms of their position and movement, then particles could no longer be clearly defined as material objects anymore. If, after all, the position and movement of a particle could not be described with precision, then in a sense a particle could only be described with imprecision – a mathematical approximation. A photon, for instance, could no longer be considered a discrete particle, but rather a combination – part particle, part wave – or a mathematical description now called a wave function. Even more importantly, if the manner by which a particle was measured (or observed) altered the resultant observation (a fact Heisenberg had demonstrated), then it followed logically that observation itself had to be a fundamental aspect of reality. Physics had been thrown for a loop.

A World of Pure Possibility… Magic

Indeed, some physicists, Heisenberg included, began to interpret the wave part of the particle/wave aspect of light as meaning that particles became particles only when observed, and remained waves (that is, in a state of material potential) when not observed. This, of course, was an extraordinary claim, something that many physicists thought sounded disturbingly akin to ancient superstition, like magic or voodoo. What Heisenberg and his colleagues were suggesting, in essence, was that the unseen world of quantum mechanics was not a material realm at all, but a realm rather of pure potential. That’s right: quantum researchers like Heisenberg argued that the fountainhead of the physical universe appeared to be utterly immaterial. And as damaging as all of this was to classical physics, even more shocking news was on the way. Because if the foundation of our physical reality arose from a source of pure potential (was not material at all), then what, exactly, was this non-physical stuff? Could it even be called stuff? At this point in time many scientists became dizzy just trying to get a handle on the facts, and who could blame them?

>For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

>For small creatures such as we the vastness is bearable only through love.

>Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were. But without it we go nowhere.

>It is of interest to note that while some dolphins are reported to have learned English (up to fifty words used in correct context) no human being has been reported to have learned Dolphinese.

>Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.

>The universe is not required to be in perfect harmony with human ambition.

>Who are we? We find that we live on an insignificant planet of a humdrum star lost in a galaxy tucked away in some forgotten corner of a universe in which there are far more galaxies than people.

>We are one species. We are starstuff.

>An extraterrestrial being, newly arrived on Earth – scrutinizing what we mainly present to our children in television, radio, movies, newspapers, magazines, the comics, and many books – might easily conclude that we are intent on teaching them murder, rape, cruelty, superstition, credulity and consumerism.

>But for us, it’s different. Look again at that dot. That’s here. That’s home. That’s us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every “superstar,” every “supreme leader,” every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.

>It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character building experience. There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we’ve ever known.

>The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors, so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner, how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds.

>Our posturing, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the Universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves.

>What a splendid perspective contact with a profoundly different civilization might provide! In a cosmic setting vast and old beyond ordinary human understanding we are a little lonely, and we ponder the ultimate significance, if any, of our tiny but exquisite blue planet, the Earth…. In the deepest sense the search for extraterrestrial intelligence is a search for ourselves.

>We are like the inhabitants of an isolated valley in New Guinea who communicate with societies in neighboring valleys (quite different societies, I might add) by runner and by drum. When asked how a very advanced society will communicate, they might guess by an extremely rapid runner or by an improbably large drum. They might not guess a technology beyond their ken. And yet, all the while, a vast international cable and radio traffic passes over them, around them, and through them… We will listen for the interstellar drums, but we will miss the interstellar cables. We are likely to receive our first messages from the drummers of the neighboring galactic valleys–from civilizations only somewhat in our future. The civilizations vastly more advanced than we, will be, for a long time, remote both in distance and in accessibility. At a future time of vigorous interstellar radio traffic, the very advanced civilizations may be, for us, still insubstantial legends.

>The Universe forces those who live in it to understand it…
