The (Half) Truth Movement and How it Affects You

I’ve always been the type of person to question just about everything I was ever told. From a very young age, I sensed that what most adults were teaching me (even my actual school teachers) about society and my place in it, was not always necessarily true, but rather something that was either told to them that that’s how it is, or it was simply their own opinions and beliefs. Prior to this realization I had thought adults knew everything

But after asking too many questions about God one day in Sunday school, my Mother was told to never bring me back again, because my incessant questioning was disturbing the class. This didn’t make sense to me as I thought, “How else am I to learn? To know?” and here I was being punished for simply trying to learn, so that I could actually know. So, I started to develop a serious resistance to authority because for me as a young girl, the trust bond had been irrevocably damaged as far as adults were concerned. I soon started asking myself, “Do adults really know anything?”

Being so young, however, it wasn’t always easy for me to consciously understand what these resistance feelings were or where they were coming from when it came to what I was being taught. I later learned, of course, that this inner knowing, that gut feeling, was merely my own intuition guiding me. I have since learned to trust that voice with everything I have.

Core beliefs about ourselves, others and the world are formed and ingrained at a very young age. And if we’re raised to believe that things are this way when they are actually that way, well it becomes simple to see how that might cause confusion and even chaos in our lives later on. If we never come to terms with the fact that many, if not most of our beliefs we carry today, were actually picked up and created as a child, then we will always see the world through a very opinionated filter; a lens that sees the world how we are, rather than how it truly is…

This is how so many of us live our lives, isn’t it? We just go around bouncing our unhealed shadows of one another like reflections in a swimming pool. We may be the type of person who doesn’t come through for themselves, and this will show up in our trouble with trusting others. We may accuse a lover of things we’ve done ourselves in the past. Or it may come from an unhealed past where there was betrayal and therefore now we have a hard time fully letting others in again.

This is exactly why personal relationships can offer so much growth, because when two people are putting their own “stuff” onto others, we tend to create situations that require us to really step up and show up (if we’d like to maintain the particular relationship, anyway). And while this can appear in our experiences as heart-break, a loss of trust, communication and self-esteem issues, what it really comes down to is that all of the “drama” is a result of our very own believing the illusion that anything out there is separate from ourselves. The one truth mystics and sages have spoken of for years is that we truly are ALL ONE. Now, this isn’t to say the meaning of this hasn’t ever been twisted and torn and bent to suit personal agendas.

With that being said, this week I wanted to write about the ongoing “truth movement” that has swept the globe in recent years, as well as offer some insight into how we can better tune into our own inner voice of intuition when it comes to knowing for yourself what may be inaccurate or disinformation.

Believe it or not, the spiritual community is heavily weighed with so-called gurus who lead from ego rather than heart, and whom tend to have mastered the art of taking money from people with low self-esteem.

While this isn’t the norm of course, there are many whom are profiting off people’s weaknesses and rather than helping people actually learn, grow and expand, they are monetizing these weakness to keep people living small. In other words, they place themselves above others and look to be seen in a position of “higher” knowing. But perhaps one of the greatest things I’ve ever learned personally is that we always have more to learn, and that once you think you’re “done” learning, you’ve dropped out of your heart and into your ego.

I’m not claiming to have any inside scoop or that my opinion matters more than anyone else’s. My goal in writing about this topic is to bring awareness to this often “hidden alley” of the spiritual community that many of us of us are not even aware of. You see, when I first discovered this online world of like-minded individuals I soaked it ALL up like a sponge. I was so ecstatic to find others just like me who saw the world a little differently than most.

I remember attending as many events and workshops that I could. And trust me when I say that 98% were absolutely amazing! But it’s that 2% I’d like to focus on for a moment and share the time I had a healer tell me I needed her and couldn’t ever heal myself. This was as when I realized that perhaps not everyone in this community is actually at the level of consciousness they claim to be.

It felt like my childhood realization regarding adults all over again…

But if anything, knowing this has allowed me to open my eyes to my own personal power. If it were not for the few “bad apples”, I don’t think I’d ever retaliate with a newfound sense of confidence to pursue my goals and dreams. I’d still be keeping myself living small and believing the lie that I couldn’t do it or that I’m not good enough.

So, today I thank those people (adults and false-gurus alike) for teaching me how to show up for myself and that I can trust my inner voice. It’s quite easy to become a self-help addict in that we keep ourselves in a perpetual state of “I’m getting there”, and never allowing ourselves to come through and cross that finish line. But the more we learn to discern and listen to that inner voice of intuition, we can more easily detect when someone else is also being wholly untruthful or maybe only telling you half. Either way, knowledge is power and when used with loving intentions, your very own personal power can literally move mountains.

Have a whole, honest, and powerful weekend everyone! <3

Guilt-Free Joy and How to Get Some

Something dawned on me the other day when I was thinking about how fast the year had gone by. As I was reassessing my goals for my coaching business, my website, etc. super excited to roll out some new ideas…I could hear the usual voice in my head in the background, while a quiet, yet demanding whisper at the moment, steadily increasing to an in-your-face roar of how little I’ve once again accomplished as another year flies by, just waiting to pounce on the tidbit of joy I’d mustered out of some goals I haven’t “fully” yet accomplished…

And then I think…”According to WHO???”. Who am I competing against except who I used to be anyway? Sure, we may compete against one another for sport, for jobs, for the mere satisfaction of the ego…whatever the reason might be, in the end, the only competition that ever really counts is the one we kept up not against, but WITH ourselves. So why be a jerk to yourself about it? Why not instead be the best damn coach you never had? Why not let it be OK where I am right now for once?

When we choose to be brave enough about how we treat ourselves, it allows us a wider perspective on where we are in our lives in relation to any goals we’ve set forth for ourselves, which could ultimately help us get there a lot faster and more effectively.

It also shows us where, if we’ve reached this awareness, a new perspective to come from that perhaps is a little kinder to the spirit and a lot nicer to work with. And it doesn’t come from a place of empty egoic need to fill a space inside with something outside. No, it comes from the heart and a need to grow and expand; to create and express.

As when we relax into life, this is what we naturally do. And it’s funny how when we start to actually enjoy our lives, some of us think we’re either doing something wrong and this whole shithouse is about to go up in flames any second, or that (basically from the same line of fear energy), that it simply will not last and therefore we MUST self-sabotage it and push it away immediately, because at least then we know we had control.

I think if we were taught a bit differently when it comes to our dreams, our inspirations, our talents and gifts, etc. when we are children and not sold the idea we need to diminish those things that make us happy but not enough money as a career, or that we must sell our very sense of spirit to become someone else’s idea of success. And even if we achieve THAT, we soon find that it’s not fulfilling…there is always more to reach for, more to want.

And that’s just it…as much as we can say that the only constant is change itself, we all continue to fight change constantly! We know the calm release of relaxation and how it feels to let go after a long day. That is because we’ve allowed ourselves to stop pushing against life, to stop trying to fight the current and to float instead.

Once we can master the art of floating with a conscious release, we can keep the awareness of our choices, and also our responsibilities and consequences of those choices. We aren’t just saying, “fuck it all, screw it, I just don’t care anymore!” and give up, we are NOT giving up. What we are doing, however, is letting go.

And it is in this simple (yet never easy) act of letting go, that we allow joy to flow directly to us from the Universe, from Source, from God, from whatever funnel of abundance you resonate most with. We are not restricting the flow by holding so tightly (literally) to needing control over everything in your life.

When you realize that life is not happening to you, but rather responding to you, you stop fighting so hard because there is no fight, just the illusion of battle, a reflection of the constant inner war of “change” or “remain”. Which brings up back to the constant of change…it is not punishing nor rewarding us by bringing us joy then always coming to rip it away, but simply breathing in accordance with all of existence. Ever-cycling, pattern-spiraling to bring back around to us, again and again, the lessons we are yet to learn. And the joy that we are meant to build upon like a foundation of gold within our hearts; the trick is that once we have it, no one can truly ever take it from us; they can only make us believe it is gone…

One cannot hold this truth in their heart without also protecting the peace that comes with it. Because deep within hides the knowing that when we hold too tightly, everything is lost and nothing is gained…but when we connect deeply enough to this truth, everything is gained and nothing is lost.

Would More Social Justice Make You Happier?

By Jill Suttie | Greater Good Magazine

While there is a lot that we can do to increase our own well-being, our social and political environments play an important role in our happiness, too. In particular, research suggests that supportive government policies like health care coverage and parental leave make a difference in how we feel in our everyday lives.

Now, a new study finds that people who live in countries that promote greater social justice tend to be happier.

In this study, researchers Salvatore Di Martino and Isaac Prilleltensky used data from the EU Social Justice Index, which scores countries on indicators like their equity around education and health care for ethnic minorities and the poor, unemployment levels for both native-born and non-native-born people, non-discrimination policies, gender representation in government, and “intergenerational justice” (meaning, low public debt, good pension policies, and low greenhouse gas emissions per capita, for example).

They compared these scores to how satisfied Europeans are with life, based on interviews with nearly 170,000 individuals across 28 countries at six different times between 2008 and 2017. The researchers made sure to rule out contributing factors like a person’s age, gender, or occupation, or a country’s gross domestic product (GDP).

Their analyses showed that not only does a country’s social justice contribute to people’s happiness, but it is the second strongest predictor of their life satisfaction. Only a country’s social capital (the strength of family relationships and larger social networks, the level of trust in institutions, and the degree of civic participation) mattered more to people’s well-being.

“Social relations are important for people’s happiness—one of the most important things,” says Di Martino. “But people should also realize that the conditions surrounding them—like living in a place that gives them opportunities or resources—is also very important.”

Why does social justice matter?

Prilleltensky argues that fairer welfare policies allow people to spend less time worrying about meeting basic needs (like health care, education, and child care), freeing them to pursue individual aspirations and to be more productive.

He also notes that greater social justice communicates to citizens that they have value—that they matter to their communities. And that’s crucial to psychological well-being, research suggests.

“It’s not coincidental that Black Lives Matter has the name that it has,” he says.

It’s also likely that greater social justice builds trust in institutions and in communities, and that, in turn, improves our relationships with others, says Di Martino. It may help reduce prejudice, too, as people who are less stressed tend to have less need to find a scapegoat for their problems.

“It’s likely that countries that enjoy a good level of social justice will be less discriminatory toward migrants, asylum seekers, or other strangers,” he says.

Social justice and equity also reduce the chance that you’ll look around you, see others who are much better off than you, and feel unhappy about it, says Prilleltensky. People who compare themselves to others in this way tend to be unhappier—perhaps because they hitch their self-worth and happiness to how much money they make.

“The more contrast there is, the lousier the individual at the lower end of the comparison feels, which, I believe, explains why countries with more equal opportunities have higher levels of well-being,” says Prilleltensky.

Other research finds that when Americans live in a state with more inequality, they also tend to take more economic and other risks (like drug abuse and gambling). “People who feel they’re getting the short end of the stick will take risky shortcuts to achieve life satisfaction,” he says.

While Di Martino and Prilleltensky’s study focused on the EU, other social justice reports consider more countries, including the U.S. In the most recent of these, the U.S. ranked near the bottom in social justice, which is bound to affect American happiness, says Prilleltensky. It may even explain why happiness levels appear to be dropping here.

At the same time, says Di Martino, countries that shift to greater social equity, like New Zealand, are seeing increases in happiness. Having a government that monitors and prioritizes well-being measures other than GDP seems to be key to moving in that direction.

Obstacles to social justice

Even as evidence of the psychological benefits of social justice mounts, many countries still resist enacting policies to strengthen equality. Prilleltensky believes it comes down to hubris—believing in a myth of exceptionalism that keeps governments, like the U.S., from considering they have something to learn from others.

“At the cultural level, we have to contend with this incredible arrogance, that our ethnocentric way of doing things is the only way of doing things,” says Prilleltensky. “In the U.S., we’re paying the price for this extreme arrogance and hubris.”

It’s also possible that governments worry about the costs of social justice initiatives. But, as Prilleltensky points out, this is often just an excuse that doesn’t hold water.

“The reality is we in the U.S. spend more than any other country in health care, and we do far worse than any other country. So, there’s a disconnect,” he says. “Cultural mythologies that preserve the status quo—that’s the real problem.”

Di Martino adds that paying for social justice actually seems to benefit the economy, even its gross national product. In one of his forthcoming studies, countries with higher social justice showed higher GDP—but not vice versa, as you might otherwise expect. This means countries would be better off attending to their social justice policies first if they want to build a stronger economy…and enjoy greater happiness, too.

Their results give new fuel to social justice movements calling for stronger welfare policies within the U.S. and around the world. Though many think reducing inequality should be a low priority, instead, it may be one of the most important ways to improve well-being for everyone.

“If you live in a country that gives you resources and opportunities, that’s got a good level of social justice, people will likely feel more comfortable with their life, enjoy a higher GDP, and trust each other, as well,” says Di Martino. “That’s important to know.”

Quantum Prayer: The Art of Empowered Receiving

“Ask for what you want, then be prepared to get it.” – Maya Angelou

Most of us are at least familiar with prayer, even if we may not practice it regularly. And perhaps the “traditional” version of prayer consists of asking for that which appears missing in your life, and often comes from a place of lack and disconnection from “God” or “Divine Source Consciousness”. With traditional prayer, you are holding a belief that there exists a place within time and space where this Consciousness does not exist. And yet this is impossible as Source is everywhere, at all times (omnipresent).

You cannot hold two opposing beliefs within your mind and heart as it will create a deep, inner conflict. You may be telling yourself that you know there is only Oneness and that everything is connected, and yet continue to make choices from a place of fear, rather than empowered trust.

Many people pray for material things such as a house, car or vacation while others pray for good health and happiness. And there are some people who pray only for themselves and some people who pray for not only themselves, but all of humanity. There is no “right” or “wrong” way to pray, and you will know what is right for you, by the way it makes you feel.

If you come from a place of lack (not trusting God, the Universe, etc.), then you will ultimately see the world through fearful eyes and these distorted filters alter our perceptions of the Truth.  You may feel as if you are kind and giving, yet you have built an emotional wall to keep people at a certain distance. And if you are always feeling like life is a struggle and just has to be hard, then no matter how “hard” you pray or how often, your prayers will always seem to go unheard and unanswered.

This isn’t about “punishment” other than that which we impose upon ourselves. The Universe doesn’t judge and is not concerned with “good” or “bad”. It speaks in resonance and will simply bring things to or pull things from depending on the emotional feelings and energy developed around the situation. What you believe about it will ultimately determine what the Universe delivers (or does not deliver) onto your doorstep.

This IS about opening yourself up to receiving Divine guidance, while coming from a place of wholeness. You reach out not to fill a gap or hole within yourself, but rather to take a literal dive into the unknown depths of your consciousness. It’s about opening yourself up to allowing greater opportunities to enter your life; which is determined by how much YOU show up! 😉 If you show the Universe you are serious about wanting to live the life of your dreams, by the things you DO, then the Universe will respond by aligning situations that are congruent with expanding your potential and abilities.

Quantum Prayer is simply the act of empowered receiving. While we are intending to connect with the Divine to receive guidance, we do so knowing we are already complete, already whole and already One with the All. We allow, we make welcome, we trust, we surrender to the flow. We do not simply “ask” and then lay in bed wide awake all night stressing out and worrying if it will come, happen, change, etc. That is the opposite of Quantum Prayer.

When we use Quantum Prayer, we know we have a role to play in keeping the creative energy flowing in our lives. We must be willing to show up for ourselves as much as we expect our prayers to be answered. When we show ourselves that we can actually count on ourselves, we form a trust that becomes unbreakable. When you trust yourself, your self-confidence soars and you are more easily able to embody and fully live the truth of who you really are. And this is the key to being the catalyst for the Universe to open up some serious doors for you. As I previously mentioned and I cannot drive this home enough; when you show the Universe you are finally serious about living a kick-ass life, it will deliver to you that which you need to kick ass!

The Instant Energetic Shift to Happiness

Video Source: Dr Sue Morter

“What is happiness?” Are you living in the effects of happiness or “not-happiness”? Bio-Energetics and Quantum science are revealing there is a psychological energy relationship to happiness…and to sadness.

Happiness is a byproduct of you being present for you and of radical self-acceptance. We need to access a deeper understanding that we are a creator generating our happiness…

Everything is energy. And when one is sad, it means the energy is moving through a wobble—a distortion in your energy field.

At some level of our Self, we determine the degree of happiness allowed to flow through our system. When we allow the energy flow system, the Toric Field flow, through and around our body to move in the way it is designed to move, we experience an amazing reality.

We are able to be in a relationship, to share our happiness with others, without depending on them for our happiness or sense of worth. Because there is nothing to accomplish to be somebody. Rather, happiness is a state of consciousness that allows love to happen in our life.

We are creators here to create the experience we desire…happiness is not a thing to get, it is a state of consciousness—a vibrational frequency that is a byproduct of integration.

Sadness is a sign—an indication that we’re not fully present and seated in the Soulful Self. So embrace the sadness you are feeling and accept it. Notice where it is in your body and hug it on the inside. Breathe with it. Don’t get into your head and write a story or name it.

When you come fully present to what you’re feeling—even if it presents itself as sadness—happiness rises from you because you are being present with you.

Choose to be open, present, and loving with yourself…

And happiness is naturally present and available to you.

Dr. Sue Morter from Morter Institute bridges science, spirit, and human possibility. For over 30 years, she has been teaching health care practitioners, patients, and students integrative approaches to wellness, based on quantum science and energy medicine.

What You Need to Know About the Ig Nobel Prizes

You have probably heard about the Golden Raspberry Awards, a satirical alternative to the Oscars given out to the worst films, actors, and directors each year. You have probably also heard of the Darwin Awards, another questionable distinction bestowed upon the people who remove themselves from humanity’s collective gene pool in the most stupid and creative ways. But have you ever heard of the Ig Nobel prize? If not, here’s all you need to know about it.

Origins

Science humor is not something confined to obscure Facebook groups and subreddits. It is a real thing, and it has its own magazines, too – the Journal of Irreproducible Results and the Annals of Improbable Research, among others. Harvard’s Marc Abrahams is related to both: he was the editor-in-chief of the former and the co-founder/editor of the latter. And he was the one who created the Ig Nobels in 1991, an award ceremony to honor discoveries “that cannot, or should not, be reproduced”.

The Ig Nobels have become a widespread phenomenon in the decades that have passed, pointing fingers at some of the most, ahem, interesting (and sometimes questionable) science achievements of each year. And before you argue that it’s just a joke, know that the event is co-sponsored by the Harvard Computer Society, the Harvard–Radcliffe Science Fiction Association, and the Harvard–Radcliffe Society of Physics Students and that the presenters are often Nobel laureates themselves.

Notable winners

The List of ignoble Ig Nobel winners is long and fun to read, filled with many facepalms. Among the laureates, we find Swiss author Erich von Däniken, one of the proponents of the theory of ancient aliens, Éclaireurs de France, a French scouting organization that removed two prehistoric cave paintings from the Cave of Mayrières supérieure while trying to erase graffiti, numerologist Robert W. Faid for calculating the exact odds of Mikhail Gorbachev being the Antichrist (710,609,175,188,282,000 to 1), a group of Japanese scientists for teaching pigeons to tell Picasso from Monet, Robert Matthews of Aston University who demonstrated that toast doesn’t always fall on its buttered side, Dr. Paul Bosland, director of the Chile Pepper Institute of New Mexico, for breeding a spiceless jalapeño, and the Vatican for outsourcing prayers to India.

This year’s winners

2020 has been a year that we spent under threat from a novel virus, with constant debates on the efficacity of face coverings and tips on shopping for food safely during the pandemic. Thus, it may seem surprising that so few of the Ig Nobel prizes presented this year are related to the novel coronavirus. This doesn’t make then any less interesting and fun to read.

This year’s prizes include, among others, a prize for Acoustics awarded to a group of scientists for studying the voice of an alligator in a room filled with heliox (a breathing gas mixture of helium and oxygen), another in Psychology that studied the relationship between a nation’s national income and mouth-to-mouth kissing, a prize in Entomology for a scientist demonstrating that most entomologists are afraid of spiders, one in Medicine for diagnosing the condition called “misophonia”, where the sound of someone making chewing sounds causes distress in the sufferer.

The funniest – and perhaps the saddest – Ig Nobel prizes this year were the ones for Management and Medical Education.

The one in Management was awarded to five professional hitmen from China. The first one accepted payment for a hit job then subcontracted it to the second, who then subcontracted it to a third, and so on. Of course, each of the subcontractors was offered a smaller percentage of the payment. In the end, none of the five actually completed the job, of course.

The second, in Medical Education, was offered to the leaders of Brazil, the UK, India, Mexico, Belarus, the United States, Turkey, Turkmenistan, and Russia for “using the Covid-19 viral pandemic to teach the world that politicians can have a more immediate effect on life and death than scientists and doctors can”.

Considering the current public health situation, this year’s ceremony was webcast from the Sanders Theatre at Harvard. The list of presenters included Nobel laureates Eric S. Maskin (Economics), Frances Arnold (Chemistry), Rich Roberts (Psychology), Marty Chalfie (Chemistry), Jerome Friedman (Physics), and  Andre Geim (Physics).

This was the first – and hopefully only – Ig Nobel ceremony that was held exclusively online. You can follow the entire show here.

How To Embrace The (Unexpected) Changes in Your Life

Accepting Change – Still I RiseThe Only Constant…

Perhaps you’ve heard the phrase, “the only constant is change”. But if not, it would serve us all well to take a moment to grasp the truth of this simple, yet powerful statement. Change really IS the only thing we can count on time after time, as nothing is permanent.

Sometimes when unexpected change comes up in our lives, it can feel like the rug was pulled out from under us because let’s face it; we all get comfortable in our daily routines. If we go into work one day to be told that our hours have been cut or on the flip-side that we must work long overtime hours, this unexpected change may cause us stress or anxiety.

But the worst thing we can do to ourselves is to worry. To worry about the situation is to literally create stories in your mind of the worst possible outcomes and to put all of your focus on THAT! Most of us know by now that everything is energy, right? Well, how do you think the energy is leaning when we worry about the unexpected things that happen to us in our lives? I’d have to say slightly more to the negative side and I’d think most of you would agree.

When creating the lives we want for ourselves, we need to keep envisioning in our hearts and our minds what we DO want, not putting the focus on that which we do NOT want. Again, it’s all about energy, and where our attention goes is where things will grow in our lives. Where we put the most attention is where we will see our manifestations literally come to life!

Different Types of Change

There are of course different types of change; that which we can control and that which we cannot. Now, the “no worrying!” suggestion still applies here, but for that which we CAN control in our lives, it helps if we learn how to best manage if not even invoke change in our own lives. This is to say we hold the reigns and direct the way our lives go, and we are okay with taking responsibility when things within our control go “wrong”. This is how we learn and grow and is part of the process we call “life”. If we don’t make mistakes, we are not living our lives fully enough!

For that which we cannot change, it is best to surrender and to trust. To quote the amazing Bruce Lee, “Be water, my friend”. When things outside of our control happen, and we trust that there is more to it, we will be gifted with the knowledge that it is for our greatest good and that we will come out of it stronger, wiser and with a better vision of where your life is headed and why this particular change happened in the first place.

Embracing Change

And this is how we begin to embrace all change in our lives; both that which we do have control over and that which we do not. Both have their lessons and their opportunities for growth and life experience in their own unique ways.

When we can always keep the bigger picture in mind, that this is all for the expansion of our consciousness; for our soul’s growth, it allows us to keep a lighter attitude about life in general and we don’t tend to view the world from a place of fear as often. Because we are coming from a place of trust, we can resonate with love and feel confident in the choices we are able to make and feel confident in trusting that all will work itself out as it should for that which we cannot control. Accepting Change In Your Business | angel art | angels art | angel ...

And when we begin to see how we really are creating our own lives, we become even more cosmically intertwined with the creative process of the divine Universe. As we act as co-creators, we literally leave our marks on the fabric of space-time!

I cannot think of anything more freeing and more empowering at the same time. This alone will act to open your heart and when your self-confidence begins to grow and you begin to see what magic you are capable of, there’s no telling what you can do! 🙂

3 Tips to Improve Your Mood Fast

Have you ever noticed that when you wake up feeling energized, the whole day suddenly, no matter the plans, becomes better? And if you, on the other hand, wake up feeling sleepy and grumpy, the next twenty-four hours are likely to annoy you regardless of the day’s schedule?

Your mood can have a substantial impact on your day and life at large. With this in mind, it is easy to understand why it would be best to smile and feel joyful all the time. Unfortunately, no matter how ideal the vision, it is impossible.

We all have those days occasionally when we are just not feeling our best. Interestingly enough, sometimes people experience bad moods for no reason. They are simply not feeling themselves on a particular day.

Most of the time, in such situations, people tend to blame themselves for the bad mood and try to enhance it by wondering why they feel bad-tempered or sad. That is the worst of all things to do when in such a mood. What happens is they create a vicious cycle of trying to escape the temporary grumpiness by focusing on the temporary grumpiness and creating more of it.

The good news is that if you find yourself in negative or self-defeating humor, there are ways to quickly get back on the positive-attitude-track. So the next time you feel like you’re heading towards tears or anger, try one of the following methods to change the mood and start enjoying your day again instantly.

Eat the Right Foods

That advice should be treated both as a general rule and a quick fix, depending on the foods.

Food is like a fuel to your brain. Eating healthy products rich in vitamins, microelements, and antioxidants will nourish your body and stimulate your mind to work correctly. As a consequence, your mood will be affected positively. On the other hand, some studies suggest that diets high in refined sugars can worsen the effects of mental disorders, such as depression.

If you want to enhance your brain’s functioning and improve your mood, it is essential to establish a balanced, nutritious, and tasty diet. Meal plans full of fruits, vegetables, seafood, and unprocessed grains should be of your particular interest. Don’t get discouraged if that sounds ‘too healthy.’ All of these products can be found in the delicious Mediterranean diet. If Italians spend thousands of hours relishing the food, why wouldn’t you?

To boost the effect more and improve the mood, consider supplementation. If you don’t know the best additions to your regular diet, you might want to read some opinions on The Supplement Reviews or Labdoor.com.

Smile

Studies have shown that even if forced and fake, a smile can lead to an almost immediate flood of endorphins in your brain.

Endorphins are hormones sensitive to the body’s opiate receptors. They cause pain and stress relief and boost the feeling of pleasure, which results in a better mood in the short-term and a general sense of well-being in the long-term.

The endorphins released are triggered by the muscles’ movements in your face, especially those around your lips. It means that smiling, even fake, stimulates the brain to act as if you were genuinely happy.

As a positive side effect of forced smiling, people start to feel better and experience overall happiness, even if they were in a bad mood a moment ago.

Meditate

Meditation is nothing more than detaching yourself from the surrounding world and letting go. It works well as a relaxing technique, it makes you focus on breathing and is easy to do anywhere, anytime.

Some say that as little as three minutes of meditation a day in a quiet and peaceful place can profoundly change your state of mind. When it comes to meditation, both short and long-term benefits are numerous.

Short-term meditation effects include:

  • Increased attention
  • Stress relief
  • Anxiety attacks control

Long-term effects include:

  • Enhanced self-awareness
  • Improved blood pressure
  • Help in staying on track with the established goals

Conclusion

It is only natural that people experience bad days from time to time. Sometimes it is even healthy to feel grumpy and moody. For humans to function well, the negative emotions are as important as the positive ones, so don’t beat yourself up and try to accept your feelings.

However, if the bad mood stays for too long or happens for no reason, there are some quick ways to fix it. They include more than just meditation, smiling, and a proper diet. You can also exercise, listen to uplifting music, or go outside and get a little sun.

Mindful Mastery and the “Groovy” Teachings of Samskara

Ancient Hinduism — SAMSKARA .We all know grooves are formed by repeatedly going over something in the same place time after time after time. Whether it’s a groove on a road from common traffic, a riverbed from the push of pressing waters, or what I’ll be focusing on here, neural pathways in our brains.

Perhaps you’ve heard of the term “Samskara”, which comes from two Sanskrit word roots that mean “to flow together”. Basically, Samskara is symbolic representations of the neurological grooves that form over time the more and more that you choose to do something. And every time you choose to do something, whether you are aware of it or not, it becomes more difficult not to choose that thing the next time you are faced with the choice. Good for working towards positive goals, bad for addictions, right? BINGO.

This is technically how it all works. Intention and follow-through are half the equation when faced with personal change and so many of us let some mere negative self-talk steer us away from even starting, that we never even know how far we could get or how good we might feel afterward. But do we even have a choice? After which point do the grooves become so deep, so embedded that they truly do affect our free will? Perhaps this is why some of us never take the first step, to begin with. But that is a whole other article in and of itself we’ll save for a later time…

I know one of my biggest issues when it comes to not getting things done is that I never start. And in making THAT choice over and over I have come to find out that I’ve mastered the art of procrastination. This has resulted in many hours of self-reflection and shadow work to raise my self-esteem and regain my own trust that I won’t make promises that I don’t plan on following through on like I’ve done so many times before. And it took simply learning that something was controlling me for my stubborn ass to say, “Oh hell no!” and start learning how to smooth out these not so positive grooves I have going on.

It all comes down to the choices you make, and when you are aware of Samskaras, you can give yourself the power to actually overcome them and make it work for you in your favor. The simple yet seemingly near-impossible task is to simply stop choosing. Get to a point of neutrality about or around whatever it is that has this control or power over you. It’s not so much about reacting to your emotions as it is acknowledging them, accepting them, and allowing them to freely flow by as they were meant to do. It is only when we grasp and pull and hang onto our emotions do they cause us pain, confusion, etc. Why 'Samskara' – Samskara Digital Marketing

If you are trying to master an art or talent, then this is obviously a good thing when deep grooves have been formed. This is proof of hard work, dedication, and practice and these are the types of grooves you most likely want to keep around. Use this simple observation and a new way of looking at it to approach the so-called “bad” grooves. This helps the ego to let go and to stop judging. If you have been trying to quit smoking for 20 years to no avail, then that is a perfect example of a really deep “groove” or Samskara that has formed within the brain and has now manifested as a “bad habit”.

There has to be a deeper, more important groove formed to encompass your attention and dedication away from continuing to contribute to the “smoking groove” and this usually comes in the form of a life-threatening health scare from your doctor, an ultimatum from your spouse or just a strong inner will to finally change. All are equally effective and aid us in attaining the neutrality that we need to have towards the “bad” groove.

When we are born, we are for the most part a clean slate. We come into the world with our Soul essence of who’ve we’ve been along with our blueprint of what we have planned to accomplish while we’ve incarnated here on Earth this time around. However, we risk influencing both our very own Souls and our soul plans the second we make a choice; and being a human being, we are inevitably faced with choices seemingly almost every other moment of our conscious and perhaps even unconscious lives.

So, in my humble opinion, one would be wise to take a few moments to work on re-training the mind and figure out where you are forming your grooves and to see if they are best serving you in your life. If not, perhaps look into creating new grooves, or maybe do like what’s her name who went and got an old one back. LOL Hey, whatever works for you! 🙂

If you are interested in learning more about Samskara and just want to read a bad-ass book that will seriously help you out in many ways if you’re looking to grow mentally, spiritually and emotionally, I highly recommend Deepak Chopra’s, The Book of Secrets: Unlocking the Hidden Dimensions of Your Life.

Right in the Feels: The Modus Operandi of Emotional Magnetism

If anyone knows procrastination, self-sabotage, and making excuses it would be me. But what reflecting on each of these things on an intended regular basis has taught me, is the insight into exactly why I delay things, why I put myself down and why I distract myself from focusing on what I need to in order to make my dreams a reality.

And I wanted to write about these things this week because it seems like we all tend to think about this stuff and do a bit of self-reflecting here and there, but then when we’re no longer feeling the jazz of the moment anymore, it’s almost as if the insight fizzles and we find ourselves right back in the same unmotivated, un-moving, space of confusion as to why nothing is different, nothing is better and although we see the days on the calendar go by, nothing has changed. Well, at least it feels that way sometimes, doesn’t it? So, what gives?

Well for one, it’s because we are living life from a perspective of “being pulled” towards something rather than us being the ones who are pushing outwards on life itself! In order to keep things IN-motion, WE have to BE the power source that is moving things into our lives forward! Instead, we tend to have a “sit back and wait for it” mentality.

But we are not necessarily taught this fact. At least not in the most emotionally empowering way. Sure we are taught, usually quite vaguely or based on the status quo, that we have to earn a living and that nothing comes for free; money doesn’t grow on trees (actually it does, it’s PAPER!), but you get my point…We are not taught that in order to get what we want in life AND feel good about ourselves and have healthy relationships with others is to realize that the hard work lies WITHIN first and foremost. If you skip that, then you seriously should prepare for everything else to be a huge pain in the ass LOL. Welcome to Earth! 😉

All kidding aside, what I really mean here is this…Everything we tend to learn in this world is ASS BACKWARDS!

For example…

To have a healthy level of self-esteem, we gotta love ourselves first and foremost and know that the opinions of others do not define who we are, but rather actually give us more clues into who they are. And yet, we are often taught to feel like the opinions of others are the most important and if you stop and notice, when they are unfavorable opinions, it can be quite damaging to our hearts and feelings, because we have developed expectations of the outside world to determine our emotional state for the most part. Instead of being taught the reality that our emotional state determines that which we experience in the outside world!

Peter McWilliams Quote: “Emotion is energy in motion.” (9 ...This all comes back to magnetism and energy and recognizing that our emotions are a system of energy that is constantly in motion. E-motion…Energy-in-motion. I will never forget the first time I heard someone explain emotions in that way. They know nothing else but to MOVE as this is their essence, what they do, what they are meant to do, and their modus operandi. If emotions are stuck, they become stagnant energy blocks and will literally manifest as sickness and or issues in your life to get your attention in a more significant way than the emotion itself.

Emotions are awesome and none is better or worse than the other. Each simply has its job to do and has a certain aspect of healing that it points out for you. Emotions are not us, they are not meant to be taken on as who we are because they are not, they are FEELINGS, and they are FLEETING. They are meant to flow in and out of our existence like rain…but if we grab and hold, they will fester under our attempt to control them.

And the ego’s best trick? Convincing you that those feelings you have the most often, that mood you usually carry around are actually YOU. As if you, I’m talking about Self with a capital S, could ever be contained within one emotion. You are multi-faceted. And the fact you can feel ALL emotions should tell you that you are NOT just one in particular. If you are convinced you are emotion, then you have at least identified where to start your journey of healing…

And here is where crossing that good ‘ol invisible bridge comes into play. We get so used to our emotions telling us how to feel, that when we are made aware of the fact they are not us, are not in control of us or our mood and that they are just indicators to our environment, that we almost don’t want to reclaim our power. Why? Because it places an enormous amount of responsibility back into your consciousness. Now that you know, you cannot un-know and you know it! LOL.

We always have a choice as to how to react to our emotions; no matter how strong or intimidating and in your face, the emotion might be…And I realize that for many, this article might trigger a reaction to actually do the complete opposite of what I’m suggesting right now and let this truth piss you off. But that’s okay because the things that piss us off..are usually the same things that set us free…

The Messiah is Here – Parts 4 and 5

By Karma Singh | Harmony Energy Consultants

Editor’s comment: Karma Singh’s ongoing Messiah series continues with these three videos, which are meant to empower you in general and in particular during these difficult times.

Here is Part 4:

Conditioned, as we are, to believe that we must pay for everything that we need to live, our focus lies outside of ourselves, upon that which we “need” to do to justify our existence. The belief is, of course, not true but it does get in the way of recognizing and accepting much of what does belong to us as our right of birth. One of these is known as the Golden Flower, The Flower of the Sun, Apollo’s Shield and a variety of other names across the planet. It is very gentle and very powerful: If you try to take it, it will go away. If you let it be, it will enter you and enhance your whole being experience.

Here is Part 5:

Much of human activity is coloured and contorted by fear. But what is fear? Karma Singh defines it as the only thing that a human being can experience which has no existence whatsoever; it is nothing other than a hole in your own energy fields. Nothing can enter this hole other than you, yourself. The moment you enter, the hole ceases to exist.

There is, however, a much practiced habit of looking away from fear; of trying to justify it. This is something that we have been most deliberately taught over many centuries in order to keep us subjugated. A hero is one who has overcome this conditioning and uncovered his/her power hidden behind it.

Here is Part 5A:

And, finally, here is part 5A, which contains a transmission which can reportedly help to address the “fear” mentioned in Part 5:
