Animals and Pets

Talking to animals is not nearly as difficult as it may seem. We are certainly not speaking to a ‘poor dumb creature’. Through the individual animal, we are speaking with a highly evolved being far in advance of ourselves. That’s why if we really want an answer to a particular question in life, one of the best solutions is to ask an animal. Because they have no ego, no individual thought “this is what ‘I’ want to do now”, the guiding Deva can coordinate synchronicity through animals to bring us answer we need.

African elephants make a specific alarm call in response to the danger of humans, according to a new study of wild elephants in Kenya. Researchers from Oxford University, Save the Elephants, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom carried out a series of audio experiments in which recordings of the voices of the Samburu, a local tribe from North Kenya, were played to resting elephants. The elephants quickly reacted, becoming more vigilant and running away from the sound whilst emitting a distinctive low rumble.

Killer whale Lolita has been wowing crowds at Miami Seaquarium for over 40 years. But now the ‘Blackfish effect’ has a growing protest movement calling for her freedom. Have aquarium shows had their day? Every week thousands come to Miami Seaquarium for a spectacular show; one that orca Lolita has repeated 3 times a day for 43 years. “It tells you nothing about Orcas in the wild. It’s a circus”, says one leader of the protest movement campaigning for her release. Blackfish, a controversial documentary about orcas in SeaWorld, has inspired a new awareness of the plight of “the most social animal on the planet”. Director Gabriela Coperthwaite explains, “SeaWorld has for decades been running unchecked”. As experts argue Lolita’s “cement prison” has driven her “psychotic”, the safety and ethics of such aquarium shows are finally coming under question.
If everyone in the UK committed to just one meat-free day a week, this would result in greater carbon savings than taking five million cars off the road. Reducing the amount of animal products in our diets will also help to boost our health and, of course, help to end animal suffering. What more incentive do you need? So start with Meat-Free Monday and then try Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. And dont forget to tell your friends and family!
A new study suggests the household pets can see things that are invisible to humans. A house cat’s bizarre antics may be more than just feline folly. The kitty may be seeing things that human eyes can’t. Unlike humans, many animals see in ultraviolet, and a study now suggests that cats, dogs and other mammals can, too. Knowing these animals see things invisible to humans could shed some light on the animals’ behavior, the researchers say. Read more: Cats and Dogs May See in Ultraviolet
