Vedic Astrology Report for November 2021

vedic astrology May 2015

By Debra Infante

November ushers in the fall eclipse season with a powerful lunar eclipse on November 19, 2021. Jupiter shifts signs this month, a significant event when it finally leaves Capricorn, its weakest sign, and enters Aquarius on November 20, 2021. The nodes of the Moon, Rahu and Ketu, stay at 7 degrees in the signs of Taurus and Scorpio for the next two months, indicating a time of healing. Saturn and Mars are in a mutual exchange the entire month of November, so patience is required. The Sun begins its transit through mystical Scorpio on November 16, and later conjuncts Ketu on November 23.

The Nodes of the Moon, Rahu and Ketu, are stationed at 7 degrees Taurus and Scorpio for over two months. This began on October 19, 2021, and will end on January 1, 2022. The nodes staying at a degree over two months happens several times a year. If you have your Ascendant, Sun or Moon are near 7 degrees Scorpio or 7 degrees Taurus, you may be experiencing some intensity in your life or a significant event. When the nodes station that long on one degree, major lessons may surface to be faced and healed now. As the nodes are in their exalted signs, the search for true, lasting inner fulfillment becomes more urgent or amplified.

We experience strong Saturn and Mars energies this month as Saturn in Capricorn and Mars in Libra are in a mutual exchange, as these two malefic planets each aspect the other. This brings a strong Saturn/Mars energy this month until December 4, 2021, when Mars moves into Scorpio. We sometimes feel we are moving ahead, only to go back a step. Saturn is a focused, slow, deliberate, and restrictive planet, while Mars can be impatient, assertive, and angry. We are learning to work with both of these conflicting energies. Be more patient, clear, and take responsibility for your actions. Practice presence and stillness in your life.

On November 16, the Sun begins its transit through the mystical, transformative, and intense sign of Scorpio until December 15, 2021. As Scorpio is a fixed sign, it gives good staying power and a strong will. On November 23, the Sun conjuncts exalted Ketu at 7 degrees Scorpio, indicating a sort of identity crisis, or issues with authority. On another level, it may bring heightened sensitivity and deep spiritual awareness.

Eclipse season starts with a lunar eclipse on November 19, 2021, followed by a solar eclipse on December 4, 2021. The lunar eclipse on November 19 is at 3 degrees Taurus in the nakshatra of Krittika and occurs at 1:59 AM MST. This Full Moon is at its exact degree of exaltation in the earth sign of Taurus, and indicates a major focus on financial security, and what is essential for our well-being. We desire comfort, support, and community. This eclipse may reveal how out of balance we are with nature, and hopefully, insights and opportunities arise on how to be in greater harmony with nature and within ourselves.

Krittika nakshatra connected to this eclipse relates to the star cluster of the Pleiades and is called the “star of fire,” signifying the deep fires of purification we will experience on many levels during the next few months. This eclipse asks us to solidify our connection to our Divine Self, finding what truly gives us sustenance. We may decide to give up old habits as we “cut” through previous resistances, and we do so courageously and quickly. Krittika can be a critical, sudden, and explosive nakshatra, but it also carries a deep desire for knowledge and education.

It is important not to fear eclipses, but to note that they can reveal something “hidden” which increases our awareness and moves us along in our personal evolution. Eclipses are not days for mundane activities but are periods for spiritual activities, meditation, and introspection.

Jupiter, the great benefic planet, moves into Aquarius from November 20, 2021, until April 13, 2022. This is a welcome relief as Jupiter is no longer transiting its weakest sign of Capricorn that occurred off and on since the end of March 2020. Jupiter in the humanitarian sign of Aquarius may bring more tolerance and impartiality. However, Aquarius is a fixed air sign, so we may experience some mental rigidity or stubbornness that we must move through.  It is helpful to work toward the benefit of others and be open to greater cooperation and equality in our world. Greater personal freedom and progressive, innovative ideas are also highlighted.

Vedic Astrology Report for October 2021

vedic astrology May 2015

By Debra Infante

October is a transformational month, with Mars and Mercury conjunct and both planets combust the Sun, urging us to let go of conflict and align with higher energies. Venus transits the intense sign of Scorpio and travels with exalted Ketu, which brings a review of our relationships and value systems. We desire more simplicity in life and want greater spiritual connections in our relationships.

Mercury, the planet of communications, has been retrograde since September 26, 2021, but now retrogrades back into its exalted sign of Virgo on October 1 where it joins assertive Mars. Mercury remains retrograde until October 18, 2021, when it goes direct at 15 degrees Virgo. Mercury is a planet of rational thinking and will be conjunct impatient Mars in Virgo from October 1 through October 21. Mars is an enemy of Mercury, so watch your words, take time in making decisions, and be kind. The tendency is to be more reactive, angry, or irrational in our communications.

October 9, 2021 is a significant day, as Mercury and Mars will exactly conjunct at 22 degrees Virgo. In addition, the Sun will also be at 22 degrees Virgo on that day too! So Mercury, Mars, and the Sun will be at the same degree, which means that Mercury and Mars are combust the Sun. When planets are combust they are weakened by the power of the Sun, but the Sun’s energy is enhanced.

The challenges of the combustion of Mercury and Mars are feelings of powerless, invalidated, and that our voices are not heard. Issues with authority figures could surface. Be aware and patient at this time. However, the deeper purpose of combustion is that through difficulties, we realize we need to be in greater balance, and make better, more enlightened choices. The combustion of a planet guides us back to our true selves if we allow it. Meditation is a great remedy.

The combustion of Mars is more intense and felt the whole month of October. Mars combust the Sun can bring insight regarding how we use force, anger, or aggression in our world, as we realize the power struggles reside within us. Mars and the Sun, two powerful pitta planets in the earth sign of Virgo, indicate it’s time to commit to environmental causes and be in harmony with Mother Nature. Bring forth your inner courage and self-discipline needed to take effect, positive changes in the world.

Mercury’s combustion will be more impactful from October 7 to October 10. The Sun is a purifying planet, and with Mercury combust we are asked to transform our words, expressions, inner dialogue, and even how we do business or correspond on social media, which are all Mercury significations and rise to a higher and more peaceful expression.

On October 1, 2021 Venus, the planet of love, relationships, and finance, transits the transformational sign of Scorpio until October 30, 2021. While in Scorpio, Venus will travel with exalted Ketu, the south node of the Moon. Venus is a planet of comfort, beauty, and luxury. Ketu is the planet of enlightenment and detachment and prefers simplicity. So with these two planets together, this can be a critical time when we redefine what true love is. Our values may be shifting, as we search for a more authentic and less superficial life. We want to experience an all-encompassing universal love. This is a wonderful time for your spiritual practices, meditation, and retreat. The exact conjunction of Venus and Ketu occurs at 8 degrees Scorpio on October 9, 2021 – the same day of the Mercury, Mars, Sun conjunction in Virgo.

From October 29 to October 31, Venus will transit through the transformative gandanta degrees of 29 Scorpio through 0 degrees Sagittarius. When Venus moves through this critical junction between a water and fire sign, we have an opportunity to access greater awareness as we release old wounds and patterns that stop us from moving forward. It’s best to act with grace, forgiveness, and compassionate neutrality.

Vedic Astrology Report for September 2021

vedic astrology May 2015

By Debra Infante

Venus and Mercury will transit favorable, creative signs this month, with Venus in its own sign of Libra, and Mercury exalted in Virgo.  Mercury travels with Mars, and is aspected by Rahu, indicating a time to be careful with communications. Jupiter, planet of prosperity, begins its final two-month transit through Capricorn, its weakest sign.  Mercury goes retrograde at the end of September, a time to complete unresolved matters.

Mercury, planet of communications and the intellect, began its transit through its exalted sign of Virgo on August 25, 2021 and remains there through September 20, 2021. Mercury in its favorite sign generates greater focus, perception, and analytical ability. You are more detailed and efficient. This is a good time for educational or writing pursuits. Just watch for excessive criticalness due to Mercury in Virgo’s perfectionistic and sensitive nature.

While Mercury is in Virgo, it is aspected by the north node Rahu, which can bring issues with communications that could include lack of transparency or subtle manipulations. The exact aspect occurs on September 3, 2021 at 11 degrees. However, Mercury in Virgo is very strong, with a great ability to discern and be objective, which helps in gaining clarity due to the influence of shadowy Rahu. Mercury will be at its height of exaltation at 15 degrees Virgo on September 5, 2021.

Mars, planet of action and force, will enter the sign of Virgo from September 5 until October 21, 2021, where it will travel with exalted Mercury most of this time.  These two planets are not so friendly with each other. Mars conjunct Mercury indicates a time to be tactful, as arguments could arise. People are more sensitive and touchy now, so be mindful in your communications and take the high road as confrontations can easily surface. Be alert and listen before speaking.

Venus, planet of relationships, healing, the arts, and finance, begins a favorable transit through its own sign of Libra from late on September 5, until October 1, 2021. During this time we seek balance, peace, and harmony in all our relationships. Cooperation, fairness, and compassion are themes. We feel a greater urgency to express ourselves, so artistic or creative projects are favored. Venus in Libra will be influenced by Saturn in Capricorn, with the exact aspect occurring on September 16 at 13 degrees. Both of these planets are in very strong signs. This could be a time of evaluating relationships. Commitment issues or fears of vulnerability could surface, in order for us to heal. Venus in Libra inspires us to practice presence with an open heart as we interact with others.

Jupiter, planet of prosperity and spirituality, has been traveling through the air sign of Aquarius since April 5, 2021, and  it turned retrograde on June 20, 2021. Now on September 14, 2021, retrograde Jupiter moves from Aquarius back to the earth sign Capricorn for a final two months, staying there until November 20, 2021. Jupiter is considered debilitated in Capricorn, its weakest sign. Although Jupiter is way past its exact degree of debility, it will be less expansive in Capricorn, as it will be conjunct the serious and limiting Saturn there. There is some reversal of Jupiter’s debility due to Jupiter being with Saturn in Capricorn. Jupiter is also uplifted from debility somewhat during its retrograde phase which lasts until October 18, 2021.

Jupiter transiting its least favorite sign of Capricorn and conjunct the more powerful Saturn in its own sign is an indication there may be some restriction or challenges to Jupiter’s significations. As Jupiter rules finances, banking and the economy, we may experience less expansiveness and lower expectations in these areas. With such a strong Saturn influencing Jupiter, it is recommended to be more responsible, practical, and realistic with your financial goals and plans.

As Jupiter also rules spirituality and ethics, this is a time to focus on those things that have true meaning and value for one’s higher evolution; otherwise we can feel less hopeful. As Jupiter will be retrograde through the month of September until October 18, 2021, this period is more favorable for exploring our inner life, through introspective activities and meditation.  Jupiter in Capricorn is helped by being more humble, generous, and having greater faith.

On September 24, 2021, Mercury leaves Virgo and begins its transit through the friendly sign of Libra. It doesn’t stay there long, as Mercury turns retrograde the evening of September 26, 2021, and quickly retrogrades back to its exalted sign of Virgo on October 1, 2021. Mercury will finally go direct on October 18, 2021 at 15 degrees Virgo. During Mercury retrograde, watch for any miscommunications or delays with travel plans. Mercury retrograde is a good time to finish old projects, back up computers, do research, and reorganize your home. Reconnecting with old friends can also occur with Mercury retrograde.

Vedic Astrology Report for July 2021

vedic astrology May 2015

By Debra Infante

Mars plays a prominent role the first three weeks of July as it reaches total debility in the water sign of Cancer, and then transits through the transformational gandanta degrees between Cancer and Leo. Mars then moves to Leo, a more potent sign.  Jupiter retrograde will influence Mercury, Venus, and Mars this month and brings a more positive and creative influence.

Jupiter, the great benefic planet, has been retrograde in the fixed sign of Aquarius since June 20, 2021, and will continue in retrograde motion until October 17, 2021. Jupiter retrograde means Jupiter is influencing us in a more internal way for these four months. This can bring deeper, spiritual insights and inner expansion. Prosperity is felt more internally. Meditation is helpful and can produce profound results.

Mercury, planet of communications and the intellect, transits its own sign of Gemini beginning July 7 until July 25, 2021. Mercury in Gemini emphasizes education, business, writing, and creativity. This is a good transit to go to school and learn something new. While in Gemini, Mercury will be aspected by retrograde Jupiter in Aquarius, with the exact contact occurring at 7 degrees on July 12, 2021. Jupiter and Mercury connection brings a thirst for knowledge and ability to think in a more expansive way. These two planets also bring the desire for travel, especially to places that inspire and educate. We also want to connect and share more intimately with others.

Venus, planet of relationship, healing, the arts, and finance, begins its transit through the fixed sign of Leo from July 16 until August 10, 2021. Venus in the fixed sign of Leo is playful, loyal, and generous. We want to tap into our creative flow now. But Venus in Leo can also be a bit self-indulgent and dramatic. Moderation with finances and spending is recommended.

Venus in Leo will be opposed by Jupiter in Aquarius, with the exact opposition occurring at 6 degrees on July 21, 2021. Venus and Jupiter are two “teacher” planets and are natural benefics, so they generally have good intentions and product positive results. Education, teaching, and artistic expression are accentuated. The combination of Jupiter and Venus also carries a humanitarian flavor, so donating your time to worthy causes is a positive expression. Jupiter, a spiritual planet, influencing Venus, the planet of love, amplifies the belief in the power of generosity, compassion, and kindness.

Mars, planet of energy and action, has been transiting Cancer, its weakest sign, since June 1, 2021. On July 17 and 18, 2021, Mars will be at 28 degrees Cancer, its degree of total debility, and so we can feel less energy or become more conflictual around this time. Watch for increased frustrations. Practice patience and non-reactivity, and try to not be overly defensive. We may also feel that our actions just don’t produce the results we expected and we are disappointed.

On July 20, 2021, Mars finally leaves its challenging sign of Cancer and moves into the powerful sign of Leo until September 5, 2021. However, from July 19 to July 22, Mars transits the sensitive gandanta degrees of 29 Cancer to 0 Leo, the cusp between a water and sign, and we experience an opening to transform old habits or patterns related to Mars energies.  So let’s rise to a new level of understanding of how we use our power, emotions, and energies – to dominate and control, or to inspire and help others.

When Mars fully moves into the fire sign of Leo, we feel more courage and strength, and act with greater self-discipline. Mars in Leo will now be opposed by retrograde Jupiter in Aquarius, and this is helpful and uplifting for Mars. We are motivated to assert our inner, spiritual beliefs. The exact opposition is at 5 degrees on July 29, 2021. Mars in Leo generates positive energy to accomplish our goals with greater focus, enthusiasm and determination.

Vedic Astrology Report for June 2021

vedic astrology May 2015

By Debra Infante

Mars, planet of action and assertiveness, transits its debilitated sign of Cancer from June 1 until July 20, 2021, and will be influenced by the malefics Saturn and Ketu. On June 10, 2021, we experience a major astrological event with a solar eclipse occurring in the fixed sign of Taurus.  Mercury, planet of communications, is retrograde this month until June 22, 2021. Jupiter, the great benefic planet, turns retrograde on June 20, 2021 until October 17, 2021.

Mars transits its debilitated sign of Cancer beginning the evening of June 1, 2021 until July 20, 2021. A debilitated planet is considered weak or it just acts differently or contrary to its natural tendency. Mars rules actions, passions, and energy in life. So if our desires and ambitions are not fulfilled in a timely manner, frustrations arise and we are more prone to arguments or conflicts at this time. We can feel emotional unrest or experience a lack enthusiasm. A strong Mars wants to lead and do things quickly, so with Mars is in its weakest sign, it can bring passive-aggressive energy or it just makes self-assertion difficult.

To help the Mars transit through the water sign of Cancer, do life-affirming activities. Be mindful of how your actions affect others. Use the positive Mars quality of inner courage to overcome spiritual obstacles and challenges. Debilitated planets can also teach us the quality of humility, as we learn to relate without pride or excessive ego. Mars in Cancer periods are good times for doing yoga or taking conflict resolution courses. Place yourself in a loving environment to help stabilize your emotions. Practice ahimsa, the art of non-violence, which generates great respect for all living things.

Ketu, the south node of the Moon, is in Scorpio and will trine Mars in Cancer, with the exact aspect occurring on June 28 at 16 degrees. Ketu acts like Mars, and both are fiery, pitta planets, so try not to over-react and stay calm, as this combination can also be a bit accident-prone. Ketu is “headless” in Vedic mythology, and relies on instinct, plus Ketu is also related to the past. So frictions or conflicts from the past can resurface to be understood and healed. Stay present and centered, and be patient in the midst of any amplified or misdirected energies or words. Relax and heal with massage and Ayurveda treatments or spend quiet time in nature, activities which represent the healing side of the Mars/Ketu combination.

Saturn in Capricorn will oppose Mars in Cancer this month with the exact opposition occurring at 18 degrees on July 1 and 2, 2021. The Saturn/Mars aspect can generate a push/pull energy, so at times you move ahead, and then may experience a setback. You are learning when to move forward and when to retreat and rest. Saturn also asks you to take greater responsibility for your actions. Saturn in its own sign of Capricorn is quite strong, so allow the Saturn influence to increase your endurance and focus to accomplish your goals.

On June 10, 2021 we experience a solar eclipse, the second eclipse of the pair.  The first eclipse occurred on May 26, two weeks earlier. This solar eclipse is at 25 degrees in the fixed earth sign of Taurus in the nakshatra of Mrigashira. Mirgashira nakshatra is called the “searching star” and indicates the desire to find fulfillment. Mrigashira can be a changeable and impulsive nakshatra. So be patient and discerning during this eclipse. Don’t make quick judgments that you may later regret. Mrigashira nakshatra is also related to healing ability. So if deep emotions rise during this eclipse period, let the healing process begin. The Mrigashira eclipse can also reveal our interests in agriculture and gardening.

Eclipses are points of change and awakening, and present us opportunities for transformation and rebirth. Eclipses help us to correct our course if need be, to further our personal evolution.  It is important not to fear eclipses, but know that they can bring significant change or new direction into one’s life. In Vedic culture, eclipses are days for spiritual life, meditation, introspection, or retreat. Eclipses are generally not good days for mundane or material activities.

Jupiter, the great benefic planet, goes retrograde at 8 degrees Aquarius on June 20, 2021 until October 17, 2021. Jupiter begins its retrograde period in Aquarius, but eventually will retrograde back into Capricorn on September 14, 2021. Jupiter is a planet of spirituality and expansion, so when retrograde, this expansiveness now turns inward, opening us to the possibility of deep inner growth.

Mercury, planet of communications, business, electronics, and the intellect, is retrograde from May 29, 2021 until June 22, 2021. Mercury began its retrograde phase at 0 degrees in its own sign of Gemini, and quickly moves back to the sign of Taurus on June 2, 2021. Mercury retrograde is a great time to reflect, contemplate, and view things from a different perspective. This is a period to re-organize your life, complete creative projects, and clear out clutter. Back up your computer or any electronic devices. Be clear and accurate in all of your communications, and come from your heart.

Vedic Astrology Report for May 2021: It’s a Very Powerful Month

vedic astrology May 2015

By Debra Infante

May is a powerful month with lots of activity, especially during the last week. Venus, planet of love, creativity, and healing, happily transits Taurus, its own sign, during most of the month of May, beginning on May 4, 2021. Venus travels with exalted Rahu while in Taurus, and they exactly conjunct on May 17, 2021, increasing our desires. Akshaya Tritiya, a very auspicious day in the Vedic calendar, occurs on May 14, 2021, when the Sun and Moon are both exalted. Saturn, planet of focus and discipline, begins its retrograde phase on May 23, 2021. The spring eclipse season beings with a total lunar eclipse on May 26, 2021. Mercury, planet of communications, turns retrograde on May 29, 2021.

Venus, planet of love, relationships, healing, the arts, and finance, transits its own sign of Taurus from May 4 to May 28, 2021. Venus is well-placed in Taurus, and we yearn for stability, harmony, and commitment in our relationships after all the intense changes that have occurred in the past year. We are all venturing into uncharted territory, and the helpful transit of Venus this month can direct us back to our hearts. We enjoy being in comfortable and stable environments, and want deeper heart-felt connections with our family members or close friends. This is a great time to pursue artistic and creative projects or hobbies. When Venus is in the peaceful earth sign of Taurus, it is uplifting to connect with the natural world, whether we grow a garden or just spend more time outdoors. As Venus also rules finances, it’s a good time reevaluate our budget and spending habits to reflect our new values.

Venus will be with Rahu, the north node of the Moon, during its time in Taurus from May 4 to 28. These two planets create an exceptionally powerful combination as Venus is strong in its own sign, and Rahu is exalted in Taurus. The exact conjunction of Venus/Rahu occurs at 16 degrees Taurus on May 17, 2021. We want to focus more on the positive side of Venus and Rahu, which brings greater interest in the creative arts and in alternative healing modalities.

As Rahu is a planet of urgency and amplifies energy, the desire for love and money increases when conjunct Venus in the material sign of Taurus. Rahu is a shadow planet and can be somewhat obsessive and manipulative, so it’s usually not recommended to rush into any major financial decisions or get involved too quickly in a love relationship until you learn a bit more about the person or situation, as things may not be as they seem. The intensity of the Venus/Rahu conjunction will increase around May 17, so patience and clarity are needed mid-May.

Akshaya Tritiya, a very auspicious day in the Vedic calendar, occurs on the third lunar day of the waxing Moon in either April or May, when both the Sun and Moon are exalted, which increases the positive solar and lunar energies. This year, Akshaya Tritiya is on May 14, 2021 in the US. But more precisely the Tritiya Tithi or lunar day begins on May 13, 2021 at 5:08 PM PST and lasts until May 14 at 7:29 PM PST. It is said that this is the day when the sacred Ganges River descended to earth from heaven. Traditionally, any new venture or undertaking begun on this day is supported and brings increased prosperity. Helping others and making charitable offerings are highly favored on this day.

Saturn goes retrograde in the sign of Capricorn from May 23, 2021 until October 10, 2021.  Retrograde Saturn periods, which happen every year for about four months at a time, are good for increasing self-discipline, letting go of self-defeating behavior, and developing a strong inner practice like meditation. This is a time to reassess your responsibilities in life and be accountable for your actions. You are learning a lot about yourself as to what you can accomplish or endure, and you may restructure your life if you need to. Saturn retrograde periods help us develop inner strength.

The beginning of the 2021 eclipse season starts with a total lunar eclipse on May 26, 2021 at 4:13 AM PDT at 11 degrees Scorpio in the nakshatra of Anuradha, called the “star of friendship.” Being a total lunar eclipse and with the full moon in its weakest sign of Scorpio, we may feel more intensity, both emotionally and mentally. The nakshatra of Anuradha is about friendship, commitment, and keeping one’s word with others, indicating this could be a sensitive time for relationships, especially if they are not based on truth or respect. Our true desire is to interact in good faith with others. Eclipses are catalysts for change, and are also days for spiritual practices, such as meditation, yoga, mantra, and contemplation. These practices help us to integrate and properly understand these powerful energies.

Mercury, planet of communications, the intellect, and discernment, goes retrograde on May 29, 2021 until June 22, 2021. Mercury begins retrograde at 0 degrees Gemini and will eventually go back into the sign of Taurus while in backward motion. Mercury retrograde turns the mind inward and we may become more preoccupied with our own thoughts or we may change our mind or alter plans. Sometimes actions have to be repeated with Mercury retrograde. So take your time, review plans, do your research, and be clear in all of your communications, as you may be misunderstood. This is a good time for meditation, contemplation, or self-analysis.

Vedic Astrology Report for April 2021

vedic astrology May 2015

By Debra Infante

The major astrological event in April occurs on April 5, 2021 when Jupiter, the great benefic, changes signs, moving from Capricorn to Aquarius for about five months, before returning back to Capricorn for another two months this fall. Mercury, planet of communications, travels through Pisces, its debilitated sign from March 31 to April 26, 2021, and will be aspected by exalted Ketu. Venus, planet of compassion, is exalted in Pisces until April 10, 2021 and during this time helps lessen the debility of Mercury. The Sun makes its yearly transit through Aries, its exalted sign, from April 13 to May 14, 2021.

Venus, planet of love, compassion, nature, and art, remains in its exalted sign of Pisces the first part of April, until April 10, 2021. A strong Venus is deeply heart-centered and understands the preciousness of                        our human interactions. Expressing kindness and generosity to family, friends, and loved ones is emphasized.  Spring is the perfect time of the year with Venus exalted to appreciate nature and enjoy the outdoors.  Creativity and developing our artistic talents is also highlighted. Venus will be at its pinnacle of exaltation at 27 degree Pisces on April 7.

Mercury, planet of communications, discernment, and the intellect, transits Pisces, its sign of debility most of April, starting March 31 to April 26, 2021. Exalted Venus conjuncts Mercury until April 10, and this aspect helps reverse some of the debility of Mercury. Also on April 10, Ketu, the south node of the Moon, exalted in Scorpio, will trine Mercury exactly at 17 degrees. Ketu influencing Mercury may manifest  as mental confusion, lack of focus, or communications are just not clear. This is a time to pay more attention to details, be discerning, and really listen.  However, Mercury in Pisces can be quite creative, intuitive, and spiritual, so use this time to seek understandings beyond the intellectual mind. This is a good time for meditation practices that expand consciousness.

Jupiter, planet of spirituality and prosperity, will enter the air sign of Aquarius for a five month period starting April 5, 2021 until September 15, 2021. Later this fall, from September 15 until November 20, 2021, Jupiter will briefly retrograde back to its debilitated sign of Capricorn. Finally Jupiter again enters Aquarius from November 20, 2021 until March 13, 2022.

We have already experienced Jupiter in debility in Capricorn several times in 2020, first from March 29 to June 29, 2020, and then most recently from November 20, 2020 to April 5, 2021. When Jupiter transits Capricorn, its weakest sign, we experience less optimism and may feel more isolated. But the Jupiter transit of Capricorn during parts of 2020 and 2021, may have helped us rediscover what our true values are, and we found realistic and practical ways to express them.

So for the next five months, and then again later this year, beginning on November 20, Jupiter transits the air sign of Aquarius, which is a community or group-oriented sign. We can expect greater growth and expansion by working together from a global perspective.  Aquarius is a progressive and humanitarian sign, so this period may give rise to more alternative, creative ideas and innovative projects to uplift humanity.  Jupiter in Aquarius may guide you to help your local community, donate to a positive non-profit organization, or just contribute to those nearby who are in need.

We may experience a break from some of the challenging financial news and experience a little more optimism, hope, and faith in our lives as Jupiter is out of debility and no longer with restrictive Saturn in Capricorn. Spiritually, we are ready to get in touch with our deeper purpose in the world, and express this through our dharmic activities.

Remember that the two signs that Jupiter transits this year, Capricorn and Aquarius, are both ruled by the disciplined and serious planet Saturn in Vedic astrology. So even though Jupiter will now be transiting Aquarius and out of its sign of debility for the next five months, it still will carry some of the Saturn influence as it moves into Aquarius.  And on a positive note, when Jupiter is in Aquarius this month, there are no malefic aspects to Jupiter, which is helpful.

The Sun begins its yearly transit of Aries, its sign of exaltation, from April 13 until May 14, 2021. We feel more empowered, vital, and full of energy now. In Vedic astrology the Sun is sattwic in nature, which gives it a pure, uplifting, and life-supporting vibration. The Sun in Aries gives us courage, leadership desires, and inspiration. We feel more confident and determined in attaining our goals. We are also learning we need patience and moderation. As the Sun is a fiery, pitta planet, we can get overheated or quickly become over-stimulated emotionally. The Sun represents our connection to our innermost essence, our soul, so this is a great time to commit to a daily practice of meditation and going within.

Vedic Astrology Report for March 2021

vedic astrology May 2015

By Debra Infante

In March the spiritual sign of Pisces is highlighted as the Sun begins its transit through the sign on March 14, followed by Venus moving to Pisces, its exalted sign, on March 16. With Venus, the planet of relationship and finance in exaltation, there is a focus to heal love and money issues. Mars transits the fixed sign of Taurus the entire month of March, and brings more determined actions. Mars will be conjunct the desire planet Rahu in Taurus, so discernment is needed to channel these amplified energies in positive ways.

The Sun moves to Pisces on March 14 until April 13, 2021. It will be joined by Venus a few days later on March 16, 2021. The Sun transiting the twelfth sign of Pisces can bring greater focus on our spiritual life, idealism, compassion, devotional practices, and humanitarian instincts. Pisces energies represent the dissolving of boundaries, and so we desire greater freedom, being extra sensitive to any type of confinement, and ultimately we desire spiritual liberation. We must be mindful though of indecisiveness, escapism, or lack of motivation.

Mars is now traveling through the earth sign of Taurus the whole month of March until April 13, 2021. Mars joins the north node of the Moon, Rahu, which has been in Taurus since September 19, 2020. The exact conjunction of Mars and Rahu occurs on March 19, 2021 at 19 degrees Taurus.

Rahu exalted in Taurus gives a strong drive for material and financial gain.  So with Rahu conjunct Mars, planet of action, we want to quickly improve our financial situation. This conjunction can also promote impulsive and erratic behavior. Mars/Rahu energies can sometimes be accident-prone or bring sudden outbursts of anger or conflict. So for several days around March 19 it is advised to be extra patient and non-reactive. Take your time in making important decisions. Instead, direct this increase energy into uplifting activities, do creative projects, expand your spiritual practices, or donate your time to worthy causes.

Venus, planet of love, finance, and the arts, moves to Pisces, its sign of exaltation, from March 16 until April 9, 2021. In general this is a wonderful time for heightened creativity or artistic expression. As Venus represents love we desire deeper connections with those we care about.

However, Venus will be combust the Sun, traveling exceptionally close to the Sun, most of March. During the period of March 23 through 28, Venus will be totally combust the Sun as both planets are moving together from 9 to 14 degrees Pisces. With the combustion of Venus, imbalances can occur around some of the things that Venus rules, such as relationships and finances.

The combust Venus (as well as being exalted) can increase Venusian energy, but the challenge is the ability to express this positive energy. So for some this can be a sensitive period for relationships, as Venus impacted by the Sun can bring up issues with self-esteem and self-love. Instead, use this period to allow yourself to love and forgive yourself and others as you focus on the healing power of an open heart.

The shadow of Venus in Pisces is lack of proper boundaries, indulgence, and addictive tendencies.  We may wish to add more devotional and spiritual content to our lives, as Venus rules the path of Bhakti Yoga. We can honor Venus by working with the heart chakra and honoring the Divine Feminine and Mother Nature.

On March 30, 2021, Saturn, strongly placed in its own sign of Capricorn, aspects exalted Venus in Pisces at 17 degrees. The next day, on March 31, 2021, Venus is aspected by exalted Ketu, the south node of the Moon, at 18 degrees. With strongly placed Saturn and Ketu influencing exalted Venus so closely, the last few days of March could indicate a need to find our true values (material and spiritual) in life.

Also, lessons surface around integrity and commitment in all our relationships, whether it is within us or with others, is possible. Expressing a more expansive form of love and kindness, despite any restrictions experienced, is the goal. On a grander scale, there is a longing to bring   greater compassion and spiritual awareness to the planet.

Vedic Astrology Report for February 2021

vedic astrology May 2015

By Debra Infante

During the first three weeks of February Mercury is retrograde, indicating a reset period. The sign of Capricorn is emphasized this month, with six planets transiting the sign, emphasizing a theme of service, hard work, and patience. Mars leaves the independent sign of Aries the last week of February and enters the conservative sign of Taurus. Kala Sarpa yoga occurs two weeks this month, guiding us to focus on the deeper meaning of life. At the end of February, Jupiter and the north node Rahu influence each other, highlighting our material life.

Mercury, planet of communications and the intellect, is retrograde January 30 to February 20, 2021. Mercury began its retrograde phase in Aquarius, but on February 4, 2021, moves back into the earth sign of Capricorn. Mercury retrograde gives us a time to reset and review things in our life as we slow down. Our perspective may change somewhat during these three weeks. Mercury retrograde in the Saturn-ruled sign of Capricorn is a period to rebuild your personal foundation and inner strength. It’s also a time to re-evaluate business and travel plans.

Mars transits Aries the first three weeks of February, until February 21, 2021. Mars is strong in its own sign of Aries and is a planet of initiative and action. Mars in Aries aspects exalted Ketu in Scorpio at 23 degrees on February 9 and 10. It is said that “Ketu acts like Mars,” so there is an amplification of these two fiery, pitta planets. This aspect can be impulsive and accident-prone, so be patient and mindful.  It’s also a time to accept your own power, and to spiritualize your actions.

In the beginning few months of 2021, there is great emphasis on the sign of Capricorn, and in February we will have up to six planets transiting the sign by February 9. This Capricorn stellium means this sign’s traits are more predominant now. Capricorn, being an earth sign ruled by Saturn, is stable, and usually likes traditional values. Capricorn also has a strong connection to nature and environmentalism. Capricorn rules the government, career, service, and organizational skills. The shadow of Capricorn is a deep need to be in control of things or being overly conservative or reserved. Committing to universal compassion and equality, while making needed changes for the good of all concerned, could be positive expressions.

The six planets transiting Capricorn this month are the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn. Saturn will have the greatest impact and power as it is the slowest moving planet and transits its own sign for two more years. The Moon will only be in Capricorn 2 ½ days from February 9 to 11. The Sun then leaves Capricorn on February 12, followed by Venus leaving Capricorn on February 20 as they move to Aquarius.

On February 21, 2021, Mars begins its journey through the fixed earth sign of Taurus, where it eventually conjuncts exalted Rahu later in March. Mars in the Venus-ruled sign of Taurus can be quite passionate and creative. Mars is much slower in Taurus, and has good staying power. We are more determined to create greater security, prosperity, and stability in our lives. We may also experience blocks with our ability to make needed changes, so being more adaptable is important.

Kala Sarpa Yoga occurs for several weeks during each of the first four months of 2021. This is when all the planets are sandwiched between the nodes of the Moon, Rahu and Ketu.  This month we have Kala Sarpa Yoga occurring late on February 7 through February 20, 2021. Kala Sarpa is called the “snake of time” and we can fell more restricted or less freewill in our lives. During these two weeks it is best to act with the highest of intention and come from a very ethical and honest place. You might say it’s a time of developing great virtue in life. You might find it easier to concentrate and focus and be more dedicated to your work. Look back at lessons learned and be open to your higher awareness and your personal destiny.

On February 26, 2021, Jupiter in Capricorn and Rahu in Taurus will aspect each other exactly at 21 degrees. Jupiter is debilitated in Capricorn, while Rahu is exalted in Taurus. Both of these planets are expansive in nature, and in general Jupiter/Rahu gives a focus on the material life. Jupiter helps temper Rahu, the north node of the Moon. Jupiter in Capricorn could indicate that through hard work we can improve our financial situation. Be clear and do your research with financial dealings, as the shadow of Rahu is selfishness or subtle manipulations. Jupiter/Rahu can also increase our interest in foreign or alternative education or philosophies. This is a time to be generous and giving.

Vedic Astrology Report for January, 2021

vedic astrology May 2015

By Debra Infante

In January there is great emphasis on the sign of Capricorn with Saturn and Jupiter there, plus four other planets will move through the sign at various times throughout the month. Mars is very strongly placed in its own sign of Aries for the entire month. Kala Sarpa Yoga occurs from January 10 to 28, when all the planets are sandwiched between the nodes Rahu and Ketu. And on January 30, Mercury goes retrograde for three weeks.

Mars, planet of action and assertiveness, began its transit through Mars on December 23, 2020, and will travel through the sign until February 21, 2021. Mars is empowered in Aries, a sign it rules, and can give increased confidence, assertiveness, and independence.  But Mars in Aries can also increase impulsivity, and brash actions. On January 20, 2021 Mars will conjunct Uranus, an outer planet, at 12 degrees Aries, which electrifies Mars. This combination can bring unpredictable behavior or volatility, so a time to be calm and centered.

Saturn has been in Capricorn since January 2020, and Jupiter just recently returned to Capricorn on November 20, 2020.  Now four more planets move through the sign. First, Mercury joins Saturn and Jupiter from January 4 to 25.  Then from January 13 to early January 15, the Moon travels briefly through Capricorn. The Sun makes its yearly transit through Capricorn on January 14 until February 12. Finally, Venus transits Capricorn from January 28 until February 20, 2021. So as you can see, the sign of Capricorn is very predominant in January.

Capricorn is an earth sign ruled by Saturn. So there is a theme this month of heightened responsibility, seriousness, and the need to be grounded. There is a strong focus on career or service, security, and conservativism. Spiritually we want to fulfill our dharma or purpose in life. We can achieve success through patience, perseverance, and practicality. Authenticity in all aspects of life is very important. On the other hand, we can feel unappreciated for all the work that we do, and we find it’s harder to take care of our personal or emotional needs. We are efficient and duty-oriented, but may overwork or take things too seriously. Try to balance these energies by connecting with family and friends.

Kala Sarpa Yoga occurs this month from January 10 to 28, 2021 when all the planets fall between the nodes of the Moon, Rahu and Ketu. Some astrologers feel this yoga expresses more on a mundane or global scale, and not as much in an individual chart.  Kala Sarpa means “the snake of time” and signifies a period when critical life lessons surface, and we may feel more restriction or less free will in operation. We can also experience feelings of heightened sensitivity. We are asked to be more compassionate, helpful, and act with high moral principles. View your life from a wider perspective, be detached, and have some humor too. In reality, this is a period where we are given a greater opportunity to advance spiritually.

Mercury goes retrograde at 2 degrees Aquarius at end of month beginning January 30 until February 20, 2021. Mercury eventually retrogrades back into the earth sign of Capricorn on February 4, 2021. When a planet is retrograde it is closer to the earth, so the planet’s significations are expressed more strongly.  In the case of Mercury, a mental planet, we have to watch overthinking a situation, or amplifying mental chatter or worry. Do things to activate the right brain which helps us to balance our thoughts. Be more creative, listen to music, meditate, practice yoga, or spend time in nature are great ways to cultivate peace of mind.

Vedic Astrology Report for December: Deep Transformation and a Desire to Serve Humanity

vedic astrology May 2015

By Debra Infante

December promises to be a very powerful month, full of extraordinary astrological events as we anticipate a new collective future, and begin a new 20 year cycle. An intense total solar eclipse occurs on December 14, 2020. The Sun, Moon, Mercury, and Mars will all transit gandanta degrees as they move from water signs to fire signs, signaling deep transformation this month. Jupiter will transit its exact degree of debility while traveling next to Saturn.  And the very significant and history-making 20 year conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter occurs December 21, 2020 which is the winter solstice.

On December 14, 2020 we experience a total solar eclipse at almost 29 degrees Scorpio in the nakshatra of Jyeshtha at 9:17 AM (MST).  The deity of Jyeshta nakshatra is Indra, King of the Gods, and this nakshatra is the “chief star” so leadership is a theme. Also Jyeshtha means “the eldest sister” and so carries a wise woman or crone energy too. We are asked to be still and listen more intently to our own “wise” inner voice for truth and guidance. Learn from you past experiences, connect to your heart, and act with courage. As this eclipse occurs in Scorpio, where the Moon is debilitated, this eclipse affects us deeply on a personal level, as emotions and thoughts may be highly charged and quite sensitive.

This solar eclipse occurs so very close to 29 degrees Scorpio, the most challenging gandanta degree, between Scorpio and Sagittarius. Gandanta degrees are the critical junctures between water and fires signs that can open us to new perspectives, transformation, and healing. Especially during this eclipse, we are asked to make the leap to connect to our true spiritual self. Our identity and beliefs are shifting. There is a greater opportunity at this time for deeper soul growth, but first we must release old, ancient wounds and habitual patterns that stop us from moving forward. The key with gandanta points is to act with grace, forgiveness and no resistance, so we rise to a new level of awareness and understanding.

Remember that in Vedic culture, eclipses are days of spiritual initiation, as they are not considered good days for mundane activities. Take time out to stabilize the mind with meditation, yoga, mantra, or prayer, and be in a peaceful, natural environment.  It is important not to fear eclipses, but note that they can bring significant changes or circumstances into one’s life. They are points of change, and things “hidden” can be brought into the light, giving us greater insight.

Mercury, planet of communications and travel, transits 29 degrees Scorpio and 0 degrees Sagittarius from December 16 to 17, 2020, as it crosses over the degree of the solar eclipse on December 14. So a time to be more discerning and clear with your words, what you put in writing, and with travel plans.

The major planetary alignment involving Jupiter and Saturn, sometimes called the Great Conjunction, occurs every 20 years when expansive Jupiter conjuncts restrained Saturn. This influential connection of Jupiter/Saturn signals a new world order or perspective, which may involve social, political, judicial and financial issues. Jupiter brings expansion of ideas, while Saturn is the planet that works hard to bring things into physical reality. This period signals a big shift in world consciousness.

Saturn and Jupiter will travel together from 5 to 6 degrees of Capricorn starting on December 15 through December 24, 2020. The exact conjunction will be at 6 degrees and 19 minutes Capricorn on December 21, 2020, the winter solstice, a very sacred day. December 21 is the longest night and shortest day in the Northern Hemisphere. The solstice can be a magical and contemplative time, as we celebrate renewal, hope, and spiritual rebirth. Offer respect and gratitude for the coming light and all you have been given this past year.  It is a powerful day for meditation, self-examination, and setting new intentions, as we welcome the start of a new cycle.

What makes this Jupiter/Saturn conjunction more interesting is that when Jupiter transits 5 degrees Capricorn, from December 15 to 19, 2020, it is at its degree of total debility, meaning it is at its lowest or weakest point and will be right next to Saturn. There will be some reversal of the debility as Jupiter is with Saturn, lord of Capricorn. Jupiter is still a benefic planet, so even though it is moving through a more restricted sign and is conjunct Saturn, there are still some good things that can manifest.

Jupiter is the main planet that represents prosperity, spirituality, and purpose, but in December may be less expansive as it moves through its more challenging degree. Slow down and be more present with your life. So time to get back to basics, and be realistic and practical with finances. Put more effort and discipline into your spiritual practices, and keep your faith in humanity. This is a time to be patient, generous, giving, and humble.

Mars, planet of action and energy, leaves Pisces and enters its own sign of Aries, from the evening of December 23, 2020 until February 21, 2021. Mars will travel through the gandanta degrees of 29 Pisces to 0 Aries from December 21 to December 25, 2020. Mars in Aries is extra strong, and it also aspect Scorpio, another sign it rules, at the same time.  Use this strong Mars to move forward now as there is more energy to accomplish your goals with focus, great enthusiasm, and determination. But watch for increased impatience, anger, and conflict with others if things don’t go your way.  Use this potent time to be an advocate, find causes you resonate with, and donate your time are very positive remedies.

We end December with the conjunction of Venus, planet of love and compassion, with exalted Ketu (south node of the Moon) on December 30, 2020 at 25 degrees Scorpio. Ketu is the planet of enlightenment and moksha, and Venus symbolizes Bhakti Yoga, so together can bring forth a love of higher spiritual realms and desire to service to humanity.

Vedic Astrology Report for November 2020: Sudden Shifts and New Beginnings

vedic astrology May 2015

By Debra Infante

November is a month of powerful astrological activity and shifting energies in our world, especially during these last two months of 2020. Mercury and Mars both retrograde at the beginning of the month, go direct. Venus leaves its sign of debility in mid-November. Jupiter moves to Capricorn its sign of debility on November 20, where it joins Saturn, setting up a rare, major conjunction. Finally on November 30, 2020, we experience a lunar eclipse which starts the fall eclipse season.

Mercury, planet of communications and travel, goes direct at 1 degree Libra on November 3, 2020, (US Presidential Election Day), having been retrograde since October 13. As Mercury shifts direction on Election Day, we hope there won’t be any technical or computer glitches, so double-check your ballot if you are voting that day. Mercury also rules the mail, so let’s see if any issues arise around mail-in ballots being counted. As Mercury begins direct motion, we slowly start to experience greater clarity, discernment, and ease in our communications and business transactions.

On November 13, 2020, Mars, planet of action, energy, and force, goes direct at 21 degrees Pisces, having been retrograde for two months, since September 9. But during the first two weeks of November, when Mars is still retrograde, we can experience reversals, lack of direction, along with built up tensions, frustrations, and even misdirected anger. Passive-aggressive energies can occur during retrograde Mars periods. We feel powerless or want to avoid our true feelings. Find proper outlets for the build-up of tension, with physical activities such as yoga, tai chi, or long hikes in nature, along with mindfulness or meditation practices.

Our energies slowly begin to move forward after November 13 as Mars goes direct. We feel more energized, vital, determined, and enthusiastic. It is a good time to resolve any miscommunications or arguments that occurred in the past two months. Assess what you have learned, come to new understandings, and carefully strategize, so you can achieve your goals. We want to make a more positive, uplifting impact on the world as Mars goes direct.

Venus, planet of relationships, healing and finance, transits Virgo, its weaker sign, the first half of the month. As Virgo is a service-oriented sign, this is an excellent period to donate your time to worthy causes, which gives us purpose. But in matters of the heart, Venus in Virgo is kind, but also wants perfection, so watch for over-criticizing those close to you. On November 14, 2020 Venus is at 27 degrees Virgo, its exact degree of debility.

On November 16, Venus moves to its own sign of Libra, staying there until December 10, 2020. Venus is happy here and quite artistic, so this is a positive time to explore your creativity. With Venus in Libra we are learning to create harmony and balance, especially in relationships. Venus will be in Libra during the Thanksgiving holiday in the US, so especially this year, be grateful for all you have, and appreciate family members and friends who surround you.

Jupiter shifts from its own sign of Sagittarius on November 20, 2020, and begins its new transit through the Saturn-ruled sign of Capricorn, its sign of debility, until April 5, 2021. Jupiter will again move back to Capricorn for a brief stint from September 15, 2021 until November 20, 2021. Jupiter rules prosperity, financial markets, spirituality, optimism, dharma, faith, law, the court system, and education. We may see some restriction or delays in these areas.  Find activities that generate hope and purpose and expand your view of the sacredness in all life. Jupiter in Capricorn is a good time to be more dedicated to your spiritual practice.  Let go of apathy.

Jupiter joins Saturn in Capricorn, a no-nonsense, practical, earth sign. Later in December 2020, we experience the exact conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn, a major event that occurs every 20 years.  Jupiter, planet of prosperity and expansion, now travels with Saturn, planet of responsibility and hard work. For greater success its best to be realistic, committed, kind, self-responsible, and patient.

At the end of November the fall eclipse season begins, with a lunar eclipse on November 30, 2020 occurring at 14 degrees Taurus at 2:29 AM MST in the nakshatra of Rohini. The second eclipse of the pair is a total solar eclipse on December 14, 2020.

The lunar eclipse on November 30 in the sign of material wealth (Taurus) indicates a focus on financial security, as we evaluate our true values, both personally and globally.  Where do we place our attention and energy? What is essential to our well-being? This eclipse can reveal the depth of our attachment to the material realms. This eclipse may also help us find new, alternative ways to generate income, as some of the old ways are changing. Also, Taurus is an earth sign, so this eclipse may reveal the true state of the climate crisis and ways to connect and be in balance with nature.

Rohini nakshatra connected to this eclipse also relates to financial dealings, commerce, and the physical world. But Rohini is quite a creative and fertile nakshatra, and has strong family values. This eclipse carries a strong need to open to our creative potential in all areas of our life. On the challenging side, issues of jealousy and possessiveness may create problems around this eclipse, as we consider shared resources.

As the Moon and Rahu are both exalted in Taurus during this November lunar eclipse, it is extra potent, and life may speed up or amplify.  Eclipses can bring change, sudden shifts, new beginnings, and increased awareness, as things unknown to us are now revealed. In general, eclipses are days for spiritual initiation where our spiritual path can be illuminated.

Vedic Astrology Report for October 2020: Intensity and Possibility

vedic astrology May 2015

By Debra Infante

October is a month of intensity with Mars retrograde, but it is also a month of possibility if we practice restraint and mindfulness. Two planets, Mars and Mercury are retrograde this month, so watch for delays and frustrations with our actions and communications. Jupiter influences Venus the first three weeks of the month, helping us to open our hearts. Venus transits Virgo its debilitated sign, beginning October 22, which make us more service-oriented but also more critical. A mutual exchange occurs between planetary friends, Venus and Mercury, but both have challenging aspects, requiring non-reactivity.

Mars, planet of action, courage, and assertiveness, is retrograde the whole month of October. Mars energy is now turned inward. Mars began its retrograde motion on September 9 and will be retrograde until November 13, 2020. At the beginning of October Mars transits its own sign of Aries, but a few days later, on October 3, retrogrades back into the water sign of Pisces, where it will be influenced by two malefic planets, Saturn in Capricorn, and Ketu, the south node, in Scorpio. This will add to the challenge of Mars retrograde.

The Saturn aspect on retrograde Mars creates a push/pull energy which can feel restrictive at times. Practice self-responsibility and be more patient. Focus on stable Saturn to help temper and discipline the impulsive planet Mars. Ketu trine Mars brings increased martial energies, as Ketu acts like Mars, and both are inflammatory. This means we must take our time in all activities, as the Mars/Ketu combination can be overly assertive, frustrated, and a bit accident-prone, especially when Ketu trine Mars exactly on October 10.

When Mars transits sensitive Pisces, from October 3 to December 23, 2020, we feel more vulnerable, and how we respond to life will be greatly affected by our emotions and our moods. The Mars retrograde period is good for planning, reviewing and developing strategies to apply when Mars goes direct. If any conflict arises, either internally or externally, learn how to graciously handle this stress and frustration.  How well can you forgive and let go of anger? We can feel anger when we are not seen or are unfairly treated. This is a time to access our inner courage to overcome these challenges, and find inner peace.

Jupiter, the planet of spirituality and divine grace, is very positively placed in its own sign of Sagittarius until November 20, 2020. Jupiter trines Venus, planet of love and diplomacy, while in Leo from September 27 to October 22, 2020. The exact Jupiter/Venus aspect occurs on October 19 at 25 degrees. Take pleasure in giving and sharing with others, be generous. The desire for peace and happiness grows. Maybe we can revive the belief in the power of love with this transit.

Mercury, planet of communications, rational thinking, and commerce, goes retrograde October 13, 2020 at 17 degrees Libra, and three weeks later goes direct on November 3, 2020, the US Presidential Election Day.  This is a time to finish old business. Mercury retrograde promotes more introspective activities, like writing, journaling, meditation, or retreat. We may unconsciously withhold information or miscommunications with others occur. Be clear and discerning with all types of communications, whether written or verbal. This is a good time to review plans and to research new areas of interest. You may wish to reconnect with good friends and family members that haven’t heard from you for a while.

Venus, planet of love, relationship, healing, the arts, and finance, transits its debilitated sign of Virgo from October 22 until November 16, 2020. Venus will be at 27 degrees Virgo, its exact degree of debility on November 14, 2020. Venus in Virgo wants to serve, so donating your time to those in need, or to a worthy cause are positive remedies.  Creative pursuits, like listening to music or completing art projects are also uplifting activities. Venus in the earth sign of Virgo, enjoys being in nature and supports a healthy, natural environment.

Venus transiting Virgo is also a good period to develop greater kindness, caring, and compassion in our connections with others, even those we might disagree with. Activities that open the heart help to balance Venus as it transits the mental and perfectionist sign of Virgo.  We may feel extra sensitive to the disharmony we see in our world. Environmental concerns become a more prominent theme. Venus also represents our finances, so be discerning and practical with expenses and investments.

When Venus is in Virgo, Mercury will be transiting Libra, creating a parivartana yoga, or mutual exchange, with Venus in the sign of Mercury, and Mercury in the sign of Venus. This connects these two friendly planets and may help modify some of the debility of Venus. However, both Mercury and Venus will be aspected by challenging planets. Mars and Saturn both aspect Mercury, which indicates more patience and less reactivity needed in our communications.

Venus will also be aspected by two malefic planets – Mars opposes Venus, while Rahu, the north node, trines Venus. The Mars and Rahu aspects to Venus can create an urgency or impulsivity in our connections with others. So go slow and invite authenticity and equanimity into all of your relationships and with the actions you take. Be open to any suffering or anxiety you feel which will increase your empathy, and you become more aware of others’ challenges too. This enables you to experience true compassion and an open heart.

Vedic Astrology Report for September 2020: New Lessons, Important Changes and Personal Transformation

vedic astrology May 2015

By Debra Infante

September is a very significant month astrologically.  Mars, planet of action, goes retrograde on September 9, 2020, creating some reversals or increased frustrations. On September 19, 2020, the powerful nodes of the Moon, Rahu and Ketu, shift signs, moving to Taurus and Scorpio. This means we will experience new lessons, important changes, and personal transformation in these new signs for the next 18 months. Finally, two planets go direct this month after both have been retrograde since May. Jupiter, the great benefic, goes direct on September 12, 2020, and Saturn, planet of truth, goes direct on September 28, 2020.

Mars, planet of action and courage, goes retrograde at 4 degrees Aries on September 9, 2020 and stays retrograde until November 13, 2020. Mars will eventually retrograde back into the sign of Pisces on October 3. Mars retrograde can bring possible reversals, misplaced or amplified energies, and could even trigger some revelations. This transit tests our strength and inner courage. We may experience delays or restrictions, so this period could requires greater effort to move ahead. Mars retrograde can make us less motivated to act in a timely manner or we feel out of sync. The normally assertive and forward-moving Mars is now held back, and eventually increased frustrations set in. Watch for passive-aggressive tendencies or feeling more provoked by others, as it is easier to lose our equilibrium.  So stay calm and have a good routine and schedule, and include plenty of rest and relaxation. Practice patience, greater awareness and neutrality. Think first before taking important actions, especially if you are experiencing heightened emotions. Mars retrograde is a good time to be an advocate, or to serve and help others.

Upayes or remedial measures can be used to help mitigate and transmute some of the challenges we might experience with Mars retrograde. As activity is important to Mars, it responds well to energetic disciplines such as yoga, tai chi, chi gong, and even body work and massage. Taking conflict resolution courses are another positive expression.  If you enjoy mantras, the Mars mantra is Om Hreem Mangalaya Namaha. Or you can work with the Hanuman Chalisa – which is connected to the Hindu deity Hanuman, which connects to Mars.

Jupiter, planet of prosperity and spiritualty, goes direct on September 12, 2020 at 23 degrees Sagittarius, having been retrograde since May 14, 2020. Finances may improve when Jupiter goes direct, especially as Jupiter is transiting its own sign of Sagittarius until November20, 2020. This can be a positive time to donate your time to a charity, non-profit organization or a humanitarian cause.

On September 19, 2020, a major planetary transit occurs when the nodes of the Moon, Rahu and Ketu, shift signs. The nodes are called shadow planets or chaya grahas, and are connected to eclipse energies. The nodes of the Moon travel backwards through the zodiac, shifting signs every 18 months. Rahu (north node) will move into the sign of Taurus, while Ketu (south node) moves into the sign of Scorpio until March 16, 2022. Rahu and Ketu are exalted in these signs, so they tend to be more powerful here. Nodal transits can be very impactful, and we can experience sudden events, life lessons, deep growth and transformation, and even some confusion. Rahu teaches through karma you must experience. Ketu teaches through old past karmas you must release and surrender.

In addition, as Ketu shifts from Sagittarius to Scorpio, it will go through the transformative gandanta degrees of 0 degrees Sagittarius to 29 degrees Scorpio (cuspal degrees between a fire and water sign). So from September 12 to 30, 2020, Ketu will be either 0 degrees Sagittarius or 29 degrees Scorpio, indicating some intensity and ripening of old beliefs, guilt, or past experiences that we need to release, so we can heal. As Ketu is the planet of enlightenment and higher realities and is moving through these gandanta degrees, we are required to trust our hearts, our intuition, and innate knowing that we are moving forward, letting go, and doing the right thing.

We may also experience a pull between materialism (Taurus) or spirituality (Scorpio) with the nodes in these signs. Rahu transiting the Venus-ruled earth sign of Taurus indicates a focus on the material and financial side of life.  Rahu in Taurus also connects us to the physical side of life, our senses, luxury, beauty, art, our resources, security, urgent desires, and the natural world. On a higher note, as Taurus is an earth sign, and Rahu is an innovative planet, maybe more focus will be given to sustainability and environmentalism in order to have a more robust and life-enhancing economy that works in harmony with nature for a more positive future. Rahu in Taurus also teaches us about our values, and so we must decide what our true priorities are.

Ketu, in the Mars-ruled, water sign of Scorpio, brings spiritual insights, and heightened sensitivity and intuition. Ketu motivates us to release past habits and patterns, as we learn to surrender and let go. We can no longer carry guilt that keeps us stuck, or live in the past. We want to expand our consciousness and increase our awareness. Ketu in Scorpio is wonderful for your spiritual practice, meditation, or even going on retreat. We can experience transformation on a deep level. The shadow side of Ketu in Scorpio may be feeling too vulnerable, being hypersensitive, or confused. We can also experience anger or frustration as Ketu in a Mars-ruled sign.

Saturn, planet of structure, discipline and truth, goes direct at 1 degree Capricorn on September 28, 2020, having been retrograde since May 10, 2020. When Saturn was retrograde, we reflected and re-evaluated our personal responsibilities and our work life. Now with Saturn direct, we feel guided to make needed changes to live a more authentic life. Connecting to a deeper purpose with a renewed sense of intention and self-responsibility, gives us greater meaning and satisfaction. We want greater equanimity in our personal lives and in our world.

Vedic Astrology Report for August 2020: Transformation and Soul Advancement

vedic astrology May 2015

By Debra Infante

On August 1, 2020, Venus, planet of love and finance, moves into the air sign of Gemini where it will join Rahu, increasing our personal desires. Mars begins its transit through the independent and assertive sign of Aries, crossing the intense and transformative gandanta degrees of Pisces and Aries on August 15 and 16, 2020.  The Sun makes its yearly transit through the powerful, self-assured sign of Leo from August 16 to September 16, 2020.   On August 25, Venus will oppose Jupiter in Sagittarius, which can bring pleasure in giving, spiritual love, as well as excess.

Venus begins its transit through the air sign of Gemini the entire month of August, from August 1 to 31, 2020. Venus will be with Rahu, the north node of the Moon, during this month, and will exactly conjunct Rahu on August 5 at 4 degrees Gemini. Venus in Gemini is light hearted, social, and enjoys strong mental rapport with others. Venus conjunct Rahu increases the desire for love and money, and can also be a little obsessive. It is usually best to not rush decisions until you learn a little more about the situation, as things may not be as they seem. Venus and Rahu can also generate a deep interest in the arts and a wish to be more creative.

Mars, planet of action, assertiveness, and courage, begins its transit through its own sign of Aries on August 16, 2020. But first Mars will go through the intense gandanta degrees at the juncture between Pisces and Aries. When planets move from the last degree of a water sign to the first degree of a fire sign these are called gandanta degrees and are considered challenging, but they can also generate substantial growth. On August 15 Mars is 29 degrees Pisces, and on August 16 Mars is 0 degrees Aries, a time when long-held issues or knots surface in order to be healed, either personally or collectively. Mars goes through this same gandanta juncture three times this year due to Mars going retrograde on September 9, 2020, and eventually moving back to Pisces the evening of October 3, 2020. Finally Mars travels forward through the sign of Aries again on December 23, 2020.

As Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac and Aries is the beginning sign of the zodiac, during these three periods this year when Mars crosses these gandanta degrees, we are given the opportunity to go deep inside ourselves and let go of some ancient karma in order to have a better life and a new beginning. The key is no resistance. Sometimes this process of deep growth and change can bring some struggle and it may not happen overnight. This could be the beginning of greater spiritual awareness, transformation, and soul advancement if we choose. As the planet transiting these gandanta degrees is Mars, maybe we can be motivated to take courageous, positive, and well-thought out actions together to help solve our global issues.

Mars in Aries from August 16 to October 3, 2020 is quite powerful while in its own sign and feels at home here. We can experience more spontaneity, enthusiasm, and feel greater confidence. We are single-minded, independent, adventurous, and maybe even a little competitive. There is a sense of self-discovery that is exciting. The shadow of Mars in Aries is impulsivity, lack of patience, anger, and selfishness. However, when Mars goes retrograde beginning on September 9 until November 13, 2020, we may experience the more challenging side of Mars, including more passive-aggressive tendencies and conflict.

During the period from August 24 to 28, 2020, Ketu, the south node of the Moon, in Sagittarius will trine Mars in Aries exactly at 2 degrees, indicating a time to be more attentive,  not a period to take any big physical risks as Ketu/Mars energy is a little accident-prone and impulsive. However, benefic Jupiter in Sagittarius also aspects Mars in Aries, so this influence can help temper the more challenging Ketu influence of Mars.

The Sun transits its own sign of Leo from August 16 until September 16, 2020, and brings a great need for self-empowerment and recognition. The Sun in Leo likes to be in charge, and increases our personal ambitions and desire for self-expression. We may feel more generous and warm-hearted. We are learning to soften our pride and accept criticism. We could experience more dramatic events too as the Sun in Leo likes to be noticed! Issues of power and control can also be a theme with the Sun in Leo. Work with integrity, demonstrate proper leadership with equanimity, and advocate for worthy causes are good remedies.

As Venus travels through Gemini it will exactly oppose Jupiter transiting its own sign of Sagittarius on August 25 at 23 degrees. These two benefic planets are “teacher” planets in Vedic mythology. This combination can generate greater interest in schools and how we educate students, which is an important area of concern at this time. Also, Jupiter and Venus are planets of prosperity, so our finances and how we earn a living are big themes too. When Jupiter and Venus influence each other, we yearn for good relationships, comfort, pleasure, and luxury. But watch for over-indulgence or expecting too much. Remember too that Venus and Jupiter are with the nodes of the Moon (Venus is with Rahu and Jupiter is with Ketu), indicating some karmic lessons or obstructions may also appear.  Humanitarian work, generosity and kindness expressed to others, and devotional practices are positive remedies.
