Mind Control Scientists Find New Memory Manipulation Technology

Nicholas West  |  Activist Post  | June 2 2014

The race to decode the brain continues, and quickens by the day. A wild array of new possibilities are opening in the field of mind control. The mind control of the future forgoes all pretense at indirectly altering perception through media and politics, or even mind-altering drugs and environmental toxins. The mind control of the future goes straight into direct programming and rewiring of the human brain.

These new mind control techniques are being introduced in gadgets that create a brain-computer interface, magnetic manipulation via “neural dust,”  and even the direct uploading of the contents of our brain. One must then consider the subsequent hacking of our minds in the digital realm.

Memory research is a key component of this as well, and neuroscientists are making great strides to ensure that our memories are destined to become fully controllable.

Our memories help us form our identity: who we are relative to where we have been. Positive or negative lessons from the past can be integrated into our present decisions, thus enabling us to form sound strategies and behaviors that can aid us in our quest for personal evolution. But what if we never knew what memories were real or false? What if our entire narrative was changed by having our life’s events restructured? Or what if there were memories that were traumatic enough to be buried as a mechanism of sanity preservation, only to be brought back to us in a lab?

The latest research indicates a disturbing quest by technocrats and reductionists to interfere with this human cognition and even deliberately plant false memories, or create entirely new ones.

The military already has openly discussed a desire to erase the memories of soldiers through pills or direct brain implants for those suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. This is seen as a viable solution, rather than investigate and ameliorate the horrific events which have put soldiers into stressful situations to begin with. Multi-tour soldiers are more suicidal than ever before, and military researchers would like to rewire their brains, as opposed to rework our current understanding of war and peace.

Damn the ethics; science continues full throttle, largely at the behest of military ideology and funding. The proverbial canary in the coal mine has transformed into lab animal. Apparently, until humanoid robots can be released full force, they need to create the best human facsimile possible.

In a supposed attempt to understand why people can have memories of things that never happened, or divergent reports of the same documented event, the upshot of recent experiments with mice is that it is in fact possible to implant false memories of events that never have happened. Beyond that, researchers can implant fear:

The researchers place a mouse in a brand new environment. As the mouse explores this environment (Place A), new memories are created in the hippocampus (the region of the mammalian brain that we know is deeply involved with memory formation). In Place A, the mouse has the time of its life. The mouse is then relocated to a different environment (Place B). While in Place B, the neuroscientists stimulate the memory of Place A using optogenetics . . . while simultaneously delivering electric shocks to the mouse’s feet, causing fear and pain. Then, when the mouse is returned to Place A, it freezes in fear. This is because the mouse’s brain has somehow confused the fear of electric shocks in Place B with its memory of Place A — in other words, a false memory has been created.

What you have just read is a form of trauma-based mind control.

Of additional note is that scientists employed a virus to change “the neuron’s DNA so that they produce a protein switch that is sensitive to light. Then, when these neurons are struck by light (a hole is drilled in the mouse’s skull and a laser is shot into that region of the hippocampus), the memory is turned on.”

A literal on/off switch to produce fear.

Transhumanist Singularity: the Ultimate Escapist Agenda

Julian Rose  |  Waking Times  |  June 2 2014

Bear with me, for this may not be an easy read – but we need to crack the code of this much discussed vainglorious chimera.

Which is not to say it doesn’t exist – it does. Yet it exists as a by-product of minds that operate in a sub human vacuum; that have severed their connection with with the normal diversity of emotions – and more particularly – with spirit and soul. Once this type of divorce is sanctioned there can only be deleterious consequences

The current Transhumanist ethos is deeply atheistic, and as such, has no need to replace God, since it doesn’t believe there is such an entity in the first place. But, ironically, it seemingly does have the need to create an all powerful god of its own design.

Such a concept, pursued through to its conclusion, can, according to its proponents, provide some sort of final solution to the human dilemma. So we get the Transhumanist notion that  the realisation of a computer that can outmanoeuvre the human brain will somehow produce a liberated society.

Nothing, in reality could be further from the truth. By handing over responsibility for the management of our lives to machines, we usurp our own ability to shape, alter, direct and ultimately rejoice in the art of living. Instead, we individually elect to become slaves to our own inventions.

Recognising this is most important, as it puts the Transhumanist agenda in its true light – which is actually not light at all – but essentially dark. When given free rein, harbouring delusional visions of power leads on to openly fascistic expressions. The Nazi eugenics programme of World War Two is testimony to this horror. And the attempt to bring into existence an all powerful ‘conscious’ computer capable of outstripping human intelligence  makes Transhumanism into a new form of concentration camp.

The eugenics school of ‘population cleansing’ has never been far from the surface in this corporate dominated era, and is particular to New World Order ambitions. But to achieve a major depopulation ambition in the post World War Two era would require a highly subversive slight of hand – and I believe that the Transhumanist prophecy of a coming ‘Singularity’ – is such a deeply subversive slight of hand.

Transhumanists use the term ‘The Singularity’ to describe the time when they believe that artificial intelligence, in continuing on its exponential rate of growth, will take over – or overtake – natural intelligence. They name that time ‘The Omega Point’.

This is, I suggest, a direct plagiarism of the spiritual context in which this same term (although not in common parlance) would describe the time of humanity’s broad awakening to Divine Consciousness – or Godliness.

The Singularity of Transhumanist origins thus represents the demonic opposite of Divine Awakening, or Enlightenment. It reverses the natural flow of life and imprisons its prey in a Matrix like world of brainwashed, sterile conformity; the overseer of which is a man made brain. Orwell, Huxley and others warned of just such a possibility more than sixty years ago.

So when we hear that Google, whose chairman is a regular Bilderberg attendee, is pursuing interests in this field, it becomes all too clear that the agenda is directly linked to the ongoing establishment of just such a big brother global control system. One which, according to the Singularity ethos, ultimately leads on to a technically refined form of ‘thinking’ super-computer permanently replacing the higher callings of the human mind.

Under this heinous regime, it is touted that this piece of man made technology will, sooner or later, take the responsibility for managing planetary affairs out of human hands completely, and leave newly ‘liberated people’ to scuttle around like so many rudderless chickens under the watchful eye of the ‘master cyborg cock’.

The software instructions would no doubt gear this all pervasive big brother to instil a further degree of fear upon an already jittery society. And so in awe of its powers would people be – that the  ‘logic’ of its pronouncements/actions would be deemed irrefutable. So much so, that all its instructions could never be proved invalid, or be capable of being struck down by a court of law.

No surprise that we have recently witnessed a slue of cinematic previews of this futuristic type of scenario becoming reality.

If you have ever tried to question your account balance with banking staff, you will likely have experienced an abdication of responsibility for any error that may have been made – followed by a reference to any error being “with the computer” and therefore somehow beyond the control of bank staff. This is an initial phase of human abdication to the ‘thinking’ machine. Only a managerial employee might finally be persuaded to actually check the computing end of the system for a potential error.

The desire to never be held accountable and to escape all personal responsibility for the realisation of one’s own God given creative potential – or for the condition of the physical world – represents the ultimate escapist agenda; and makes perfect canon fodder for the vampiric greed of the dark side.

We know that various forms of high-tech (mind) control systems were already under scrutiny within the sinister and secretive MK-Ultra programme and CIA sponsored Cybernetics teams of four or five decades ago. And that before this, certain pseudo-Christian sects held that the gathering of all human intelligence into one vast central holding pool would somehow provide the basis for an evolutionary shift into a higher evolved state for human kind; which would in turn flood the universe with the power of its combined intelligence.

Within this delusional homophobic vision of a man-made speeded-up evolution, the ‘superior mind’ of the computer would be relied upon to coral collective global human information energy. Once achieved, it would no doubt be left in charge of deciding who would – and who would not – be acceptable to the resulting cybernetic society. A super-computer would, in this way, inherit the role of eugenics commander-in-chief, and in something like a Scientology debriefing session – would be given responsibility for selecting who was eligible or ineligible within a kind of sub-human survival of the fittest. The  ineligible being dispensed with in whatever way was deemed ‘most efficient’.

Most efficient – and most in keeping with the needs of those party to designing and programming the commander-in-chief’s software – who would make sure to write themselves out of the programme and claim they had no part in the outcome. This super computer will therefore supply the perfect alibi as, according to its programmers, it will have have exceeded their ability to retain control over its actions – and thereby absolve  them of responsibility for its excesses. The ultimate pre conceived opt-out.

Nevertheless, the commander-in-chief computer’s primary role is supposed to be a triggering of the great ‘Singularity Event’. An event that might manifest as some kind of Luciferain/Illuminati glorification rapture. A ritualistic dark-side fest with strong similarities to the annual Californian Bohemian Grove gathering. A satanic coming together to celebrate the time in which the spiritual soul would finally be laid to rest and the rampant materialist ambitions of a soulless elite get their full and unopposed due. In this scenario ‘The Omega Point’ sees the Illumaniti dream fulfilled.

After this, the machine would no doubt be switched off – by someone who had retained sufficient will power to carry out this action. Most of the new inheritors of the Earth would insist on having human slaves to look after their various and vicarious needs. In their compassion-less version of Shangrila, the suffering of others would likely add some ‘frissant’ to daily life – and robotic objects could not so amply fulfill this role.

It seems likely that to-days Transhumanists are extending a script that emanates from the Nazi era. The wish to preserve/build a super race – and rid the world of all that fails to measure up to its definitions of mental perfection. Illuminati initiates already consider themselves to be bloodline descendants of extra terrestrial god-kings. These extra terrestrial ambitions tie-in closely with the Transhuman agenda – in which human heart-based spiritual power – being the chief obstruction to the fulfilment of their goal – is finally fully subverted.

We know something about this. For the same sinister theme runs throughout the barely hidden ambitions of corporate exploits in the fields of GMO, pharmaceuticals, agrichemicals, nuclear energy, much of the food industry, corporate controlled media, key banking institutions, advanced technology and telecommunications, the military, NATO, the super-rich, the top dogs of just about all government institutions including the Vatican and other church heirarchies. Not forgetting the European Union and United States executive and taking in the World Trade Organisation and all the main global trading blocks of this materialistically segmented planet.

In all these – and more – one can detect the mostly secretive – but sometimes quite open despotic desire to exercise an inhuman form of domination, surpassing even the profit motive. The desire to exercise a coldly controlling influence over others and to use this planet as if it were nothing more than free fuel for the further aggrandisement of already over-inflated egos.  Never mind if ecocide is the end result. Never mind if wisdom, knowledge and a caring heart have to be dispensed with so as to get this devil onto its vainglorious throne.

All these sinister ambitions are fully dependent for their realisation on the Singularity ‘Omega Point’ delivering its technological take-over of human society – and mesmerising the majority into submission and surrender with its seemingly endless and adaptable calculating capacities.

Psychologically, the despotic ‘thinking super-computer’ is nothing more than the projection of an ever restless alter ego. A compensation for an unbearable sense of spiritual inner emptiness and the attempt to try to make up for this by surrendering one’s soul to an all powerful and dominating self created idol.

So if you harbour a secret fascination in corporate mass produced gadgetry – watch out! You are already entering the foothills of the Transhumanist domain and opening yourself to a mind controlling medium which is shaping the lives of a whole generation even as I write.

It is in fact, part of the same domain in which avid genetic scientists like Craig Venter are putting the final touches to their (ostensibly illegal) laboratory conceived designer babies.

We, in whom circulates the precious red blood of love, sympathy, sadness, joy and passion, are never going to fall foul of this soulless ghost  – neither now or in the future. But we need to know of it; if only to remind ourselves of what lies in store for this world if we fail to realise our God given potential to be warmhearted, creative beings.

Creative, sentient beings whose destiny is to break-through the insanity which surrounds us, drawing upon a deeper courage and a greater conviction concerning our own Divine powers. Powers to bring forth that which will banish forever those who count on fear winning out over the glorious celebration of love, which is, has been – and will always be – the true foundation of Universal and Earthly life.

Tea Tree Oil: 80 Amazing Uses from A to Z

Gaye Levy  |  Activist Post

Essential oils have been used for healing and medicinal purposes for centuries and most certainly long before we had pills, capsules and big pharma to take care of our medical woes. And while there is a place for manufactured pharmaceuticals in our survival medicine kit, there exists the possibility that none will be available or that they will be in such scarce supply that they should be reserved for only the most dire of circumstances.

For that reason, many preppers and individuals seeking self-reliance are learning to use essential oils to manage the both routine and not-so-routine maladies that occur in daily life. There are about a dozen or so essential oils that belong in every survival kit including tea tree, peppermint, lavender, clove, rosemary and lemon among others. All of these essential oils have healing properties but today I would like to focus on just one, tea tree oil.

A Brief History Of Tea Tree Oil

It is believed that the Aborigines of Australia have been using the leaves of the indigenous Malaleuca Tree (whose leaves are used to make tea tree oil) in their medications for centuries. They inhaled the oils from the crushed leaves to treat coughs and colds, sprinkled crushed leaves on their wounds and used an infusion of soaked leaves to treat sore throats or skin ailments.

Use of the oil itself, as opposed to the un-extracted plant material, did not become common practice until researcher Arthur Penfold published the first reports of its antimicrobial activity in a series of papers in the 1920s and 1930s. In evaluating the antimicrobial activity, he found that tea tree oil was 11 times more active than phenol.

The commercial tea tree oil industry was born shortly thereafter although interest in tea tree oil ebbed after World War II, presumably due to the development of effective antibiotics and the waning image of natural products. Interest was rekindled in the 1970s as part of the general renaissance of interest in natural products.

80 USES OF TEA TREE OIL FOR SURVIVAL

For thousands of years, the derivatives of the Malaleuca Tree have been effective in treating a wide variety of ailments. Here are 80 reasons why you should use it, too!

Abrasions & Minor Cuts: After cleaning the area well, apply a few drops of the oil directly. If a bandage is needed, allow a few drops of the oil to penetrate a cotton ball, then lay it face down on the wound with a bandage on top.

Acne: Add a drop to your normal cleansing routine or dab a very small amount on acne breakouts. You can also add 20 – 40 drops of the oil to your regular face wash.

Air Freshener: Keep a supply of cotton balls soaked in tea tree oil packed away in a plastic bag or tin. When confronted with foul smells from cooking, musty orders from dampness or even the medicinal smell in a sick room, take a few out the freshen the air and remove the nasty smell.

Allergies: Use topically by massaging into the chest, abdomen or the reflex points of the feet.

Arthritis: To help reduce pain associated with the swelling of arthritis, add 20 drops of tea tree oil to 2 ounces of grapeseed or other carrier oil. Massage into affected area 2-3 times a day.

Asthma: Add a few drops of oil to a pan of water and heat on stove. When cooling, drape a towel over head and breath in for a few minutes.

Athletes Foot: Clean feet thoroughly, especially between toes. Add oil directly to feet every two weeks, dusting with corn starch after. Or add 10 drops oil to 1 tbsp of grapeseed or other carrier oil and massage on feet and between toes daily.

Baby Care: Keep your diaper pail clean and fresh with a spray of tea tree oil mixed with water.

Bacterial Infections: Use topically, either massaging into the reflex points of the feet, adding several drops to a bath or cautiously applying over an infected site.

Bad Breath: Rinse with 1 ounce water and 1 drop oil. Do not swallow!

Bladder Infection: In a shallow bath, add 10 – 15 drops of oil. Sit and wash area carefully.

Blisters: Wash area carefully, then apply as for cuts and wounds.

Boils: Apply a warm washcloth for a few minutes. Then apply a drop or two of oil to the area – the infection should rise to surface and eventually be released.

Bronchial Congestion: Use as directed for Asthma. Add 5 – 10 drops to 1 ounce of carrier oil, and massage into chest and throat 2 – 3 times daily.

Bronchitis: Add 1-2 drops to a pan of hot water and breath in the steam, or massage the oil over the chest.

Bruises: After icing, apply oil as directed for Arthritis.

Bunions: Massage area with 5 drops oil to 1 tbsp. of carrier oil.

Burns: Run icy cold water on area. After a few minutes, add a mix of 5 drops oil with 1 tsp. raw honey. Repeat 3 – 5 times daily.

Calluses & Corns: Massage area with 5 drops oil to 1 tbsp. of carrier oil. Repeat 2 times daily. Once the corn or calluses have become soft use tweezers to remove, and apply a few drops of tea tree oil and cover with bandage.

Canker Sores: Apply a drop or two of oil directly to infected area with a cotton swab, 2 times daily. Also, rinse as directed for bad breath.

Carbuncles: Add a drop or two of oil to cotton swab and apply directly to carbuncle. Repeat twice daily.

Chapped Lips: Add 1 or 2 drops of oil to lip balm. Apply to lips as necessary.

Chicken Pox: Apply a drop of oil directly to blisters. Allow to dry, then dust with corn starch. Repeat every few hours or until blisters disappear.

Chigger Bites: Apply a drop of oil directly to bites.

Cold Sores: Apply a drop or two of oil directly to the sore with a cotton swab. Re-apply 2 – 3 times daily.

Coughs: Use as directed for bronchial infections. For a vaporizer, add 10 drops to steamer and leave on 5 – 10 minutes.

Dandruff: Add 20 – 30 drops oil to any shampoo. Apply a few drops to scalp and massage after washing.

Dermatitis: Add 10 drops oil to 1 tbsp of grapeseed or other oil and massage into affected areas. Repeat 2-3 times daily.

Dry Skin: Add 5 drops oil to 1 tbsp sweet almond oil. Massage into skin.

Earache and Infection: Add 2 – 3 drops of oil to 2 tbsp warm olive oil. With a dropper, drop a small amount into aching ear, tilting head to one side for a moment. Use cotton swab to absorb oil. Repeat 2 – 3 times daily.

Eczema: Add 10 drops oil to 1 tbsp grapeseed oil or coconut oil and massage into affected areas. Repeat 2-3 times daily. Also can be applied undiluted.

Emphysema: Use as directed for bronchial infections. For a vaporizer, add 10 drops to steamer and leave on 5 – 10 minutes.

Flea Bites: Apply a drop of oil directly to bites.

Gout: Add 10 drops of oil to 2 tbsp of carrier oil; massage into affected area 2-3 times a day.

Gum Disease: Create a mouthwash with purified water, 1 drop of peppermint oil and 1 drop of tea tree oil.

Head Lice: Add 20 drops of oil to 2 tbsp shampoo. Massage into scalp and hair, leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse. Repeat 3 – 4 times daily, until eggs are gone.

Hives: Add 10 drops of oil to 4 tbsp of witch hazel. Apply with cotton ball. Or, mix with coconut oil (which is naturally healing and soothing itself) and gently apply to the infected areas.

Homemade Mouthwash: Make a simple homemade mouthwash with purified water and tea tree oil.

Household Cleaning: Can be used aromatically or added to homemade cleaners to kill germs and prevent the spread of colds and flus. You can make a general tea tree cleaner by combining 2 teaspoons of tea tree oil with 2 cups of water in a spray bottle. Shake to blend and use for household cleaning tasks. This is especially good in the bathroom and in toilets.

Immune System: To stimulate the immune system, diffuse through the air on a regular basis, massage into the soles of the feet to increase your immune response.

Infected Wounds: Adding the oil to steaming water, hold the infected area over the steam. Or dilute 1 drop of tea tree with 1 cup of water and rinse the infected area 1-2 times a day, as needed.

Inflammation: Massage over the inflamed areas, gently and always toward the heart, or diffuse and inhale the tea tree oil directly or indirectly.

Ingrown Hairs: Add 1 – 2 drops of oil directly to area. Repeat every 2 hours or until signs of infection disappear.

Insect Repellant: Add 15 drops to a quart of water and use as an effective insect repellent.

Jock Itch: Apply 10 – 15 drops of oil to 2 tbsp of carrier oil. Apply 2 times daily. Dust with corn starch, to reduce chapping.

Laryngitis: Add 5 – 10 drops of oil and pinch of sea salt to 1 cup of warm water, gargle 2-3 times a day. Do not swallow!

Laundry Helper: Add 1/2 teaspoon tea tree oil to your laundry for towels and other fabric prone to getting moldy.

Mildew and Mold Remover: Spray an all-purpose cleaner made with 2 teaspoons of tea tree oil and 2 cups of water on growing mold and mildew. Shake well before using and do not rinse.

Mosquito Bites: Apply a drop of oil directly to bites.

Clear Your Fears, Find a Path to Freedom

  |  The Sacred Science

In this line of work, I am in constant contact with folks who are either trying to recover from an illness or who have broken through and regained their health. I’ve noticed that many of these people mention spiritual “openings” that came to them in their darkest moments – an unexpected gift from a higher force that left them changed forever.

Thinking on these conversations, I notice one blessing – actually more of a teaching –that is mentioned most frequently. Somewhere in the struggle, there is a day of reckoning, where the individual is swallowed up by the full reality of their disease, and is forced to come to terms with their own mortality or, more precisely, their fear of the ultimate unknown.

This is not usually a pretty process and can feel like the end itself, and unfortunately, it sometimes is. But often, once the vice grip on survival loosens and the individual surrenders control to the forces of nature, the body’s inner repair system begins to kick into high gear. For many, this is the turning point where real recovery begins.

In other cases, this awakening comes at the end of the road, in the final days of life, long after any medical intervention has been deemed futile. On a few occasions, I’ve had the honor of sitting with patients (who had long since become friends) during their final days, and was blown open by their accounts of direct transmissions from above. This divine knowing seems to be a welcome parting gift before making the great transition.

The underlying wisdom here appears to be this: our deep fears around death prevent us from truly living. Clearing the fear is the path to freedom.

Again, the benefit of experiencing and transcending a major illness is that these fears become very real and must be acknowledged. But what about those of us who are not sick? How do we proactively address the underlying patterns that might end up becoming the root cause of a future illness?

There is no magic bullet or cure-all approach that can be recommended to everyone, but I do know this: of the thousands of sacred ceremonies that exist, there is one shared understanding that spans them all.

At the core of just about every indigenous rite of passage is the concept of re-acquainting ourself with fear and learning the lessons that lie beyond it. Everyone has their own unique set of phobias or anxieties, but these “surface fears” are all linked to the one base fear mentioned above – fear of the unknown.

To use a very personal example, one of my surface fears is claustrophobia and any scenario that places me in a confined space without an easy exit is extremely “challenging.” So when I was invited to participate in a Maya temazcal (which involves an extremely hot and dark enclosed space), I was triggered and my heart felt like it would explode.

But fear has become a motivator over the last decade and this wasn’t the first time my fear of tight spaces had bushwhacked me. Just months earlier I had failed to successfully complete my first Ojibwe sweat lodge because of the claustrophobia (not pretty), so the inner voice told me this was an opportunity to continue to do the work. I said yes to the invitation.

On a side note, I know that I’ve put myself onto the edge of my existential frontier when time begins to slow down and then dramatically accelerates out of control. Let me explain.

In reality, the customary pre-temazcal prayer ritual probably only runs about fifteen minutes, but it felt like two hours. The entrance into the low, igloo-shaped structure followed by the candle lighting ceremony felt like another two hours (only about ten minutes in reality). Almost like that anticipatory feeling of dread as the roller coaster slowly climbs to it’s highest peak – clink, clink, clink, clink…

Then, like clockwork, things began to speed up right as I approached the main object of my fear – the plunge. We had finished the opening spirit offerings, and the medicine woman leading the temazcal called for the hot stones to be brought in. As the red hot spheres made their entrance and the dark container began to heat up, my grip on reality slipped out of control. Panic.

But something was different this time. I had come equipped with a spiritual strategy given to me by a mentor after my first sweat lodge meltdown. As my body screamed “MAYDAY MAYDAY!!” a deeper part of me started taking note of the specific fears that arose instead of merely reacting to them.

Here’s what came up with each new scalding rock that was brought in: What if I can’t do this? What if I can’t breathe? What if I pass out and nobody notices? What will they think if I can’t complete this ancient ceremony? Am I a phony? What if they are dishonored? What if I die in here?

Laser Triggers Stem Cells to Self-Repair Teeth

Richard Moss | gizmag | May 29 2014

Ranking among the X-Men probably isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be, but who wouldn’t want their uncanny ability to regenerate lost bone or tissue? New research into tooth repair and stem cell biology, from a cross-institution team led by David Mooney of Harvard’s Wyss Institute, may bring such regeneration one step closer to reality – or at the very least, give us hope that we can throw away those nasty dentures.

The researchers employed a low-power laser to trigger human dental stem cells to form dentin, a hard bone-like tissue that is one of four major components of teeth (the others being enamel, pulp, and cementum). This kind of low-level light therapy has previously been used to remove or stimulate hair growth and to rejuvenate skin cells, but the mechanisms were not well understood, results varied, and evidence of its efficacy was largely anecdotal.

The new work is the first to document the molecular mechanism involved, thus laying the foundations for controlled treatment protocols in not only restorative dentistry but also avenues like bone regeneration and wound healing. “The scientific community is actively exploring a host of approaches to using stem cells for tissue regeneration efforts,” said Wyss Institute Founding Director Don Ingber. “Dave [Mooney] and his team have added an innovative, noninvasive, and remarkably simple but powerful tool to the toolbox.”

To test the team’s hypothesis, Praveen Arany, an assistant clinical investigator at the National Institutes of Health, drilled holes in the molars of rats and mice, then treated them with low-dose lasers and temporary caps. Around 12 weeks later, tests confirmed that the laser treatments triggered enhanced dentin formation.

Building a Bridge between Spirituality and Social Action

Pachamama Alliance

Many of us engage in spirituality for our own benefit. Spirituality allows us to feel connected to something larger than us, and to a community of others with similar values. It helps us deal with stress, heal from trauma in our pasts, and become more whole.

When we combine spiritual practice with social activism, power and possibility for change is unleashed. For this month’s New Moon Action, we invite you to build a bridge between Spirituality and Social Action.

Why Spirituality and Activism Go Together

With so many problems in the world, it can be easy to question the value of ‘selfish spirituality,’ when we could be focusing on helping others. Common images of people retreating from the problems of the world to meditate have given spirituality a reputation for being escapist, but it doesn’t have to be.

In our conversation with Charles Eisenstein earlier this year, he spoke to the tension between spirituality and activism. He argued that spirituality and activism are actually one and the same. The spiritual world is the same as the physical world in which the world’s problems exist and these two worlds impact one another.

Dreamshifting For the World

In our new eGuide, Sacred Spaces for Dreamshifting, written by our co-founder John Perkins, we introduce the idea of Dreamshifting, a shamanic journeying practice where you take yourself into a deep altered state of mind to find the answers to your questions and impact the world around you. Perkins explains that you can use this power not only to guide yourself for your own needs, but for the needs of others as well.

So this month, honor the interconnectedness of spirituality and social action. If you have a regular spiritual practice, find a way to incorporate a social commitment into it, or experiment with Dreamshifting as a way to impact the world.

If you are already involved in social justice work, you can add a spiritual element to it, such as opening sacred space, and try Dreamshifting deep inside yourself to find solutions to the social problems you seek to solve.

7 Things That Happen When You Are Completely Honest

James Altucher  |  The Altucher Confidential

People confuse “honesty” with a type of “happiness”. He can be honest because he is happy. But it’s not true. Life is a series of failures punctuated by brief successes. That’s honesty. Failure is not necessarily bad. It’s reality…

Honesty is about the scars. it’s about the blemishes.  But it’s more than just bragging about failure, which could be a form of ego. It’s about truly helping people.

There are 1 trillion websites competing against each other. The most honest website of all? Google. Google can’t help you with your problems. If you suspect you might have herpes after a particularly courageous night out on the town, going to Google will not help you (although you may feel a vague feeling of remorse when you see the “I’m Feeling Lucky” button).

Google has no content on it at all. But Google is honest about that. You just walked into their store and said, “Please, help me – do you have anything to prevent a potential outbreak of herpes” and Google will say, quite honestly, “i’m sorry, I can’t help you, but here are ten of my competitors who can potentially help you. And, by the way, here are three more of my competitors who MIGHT be able to help you but, in full disclosure, they are paying me to tell you this.” And then Google shrugs its shoulders. That’s all they can do for you.

But that’s honesty. That’s not branding. So you’ll come back to them. Because they are a straight shooter and the target was on your head. And when you need to know about that growth behind your ear, or what the best software is for keystroke logging, they will say the same thing: “sorry, we can’t help you – but we can direct you to at least ten of our competitors who seem pretty decent at it.”

WHAT WILL HONESTY GET YOU?

#1: PEOPLE WILL STOP SPEAKING TO YOU

Forget personal branding. Start to dip your toes into personal honesty. Let me tell you what will happen. Your family might stop speaking to you.

I have experienced this not just from myself but all of the bloggers I consider “honest bloggers”. Some  of your friends will also stop speaking to you. Some of your colleagues will avoid you. Some investors will shun you. Your personal “network” will transform and shift.

My own personal motto is: honesty to a point. I will never harm anyone. I believe in what Buddha said to his son Rahula the day after he showed up after abandoning his son for 7 years:

before, during, and even AFTER you say something, make sure it doesn’t hurt anyone.

But even despite that rule, people will stop speaking to you because not every hurt you can control. Historical is hysterical for many people.

#2 PEOPLE WILL THINK YOU ARE GOING TO KILL YOURSELF

The next thing that will happen is people will ask “are you killing yourself?” Because every blog post almost seems like a suicide note.

#3 PEOPLE WILL THINK YOU ARE CRAZY

Then people will send emails to your friends, “is he as crazy as he sounds?” And that’s how I make friends now because introductions will be made and people will have to find out for themselves.

#4 PEOPLE WILL GET FRIGHTENED

So they will call you names. Oh, that guy is just trying to be a “contrarian”, for instance. Or an “idiot”. Or worse. I’ve been called everything. I had to call the Brown University Public Safety office the other day because I got emailed a death threat and the guy didn’t think I could track him. The guy was a senior and had also apparently threatened the life of a librarian there.

They need to understand why you are telling the truth. Why you are being honest about what you really think. In meetings at the office everyone is quiet. You’re not supposed to speak up. So people will dislike you, try to put you down, post comments, whatever. In many cases (but not all) these are what I call “crappy people”. And here’s how to deal with them.

#5 PEOPLE WILL FIND YOU ENTERTAINING

Then finally, people will come back to you. Because you’re entertaining – if 20000 people are lying and only 1 person is telling the truth then that 1 person is going to stand taller than anyone. At first people will come back to you for voyeuristic reasons. Why? Because they know if they watch Real Housewives they aren’t watching anything “Real” and they aren’t watching “Housewives”. But you’re real. So they want to know what you’ll do next.

#6 PEOPLE WILL TRUST YOUR ADVICE

People will also come back for advice. Not always because they agree with you. But because they know the advice is coming from the heart and not because there is anything for sale. It’s like Google can’t cure anything. But they can direct you to all the people who can. So you go back to Google because you might not always find what you want but at least you know they are trying hard to direct you to the right place.

We’ve all hidden our failures in dark comets orbiting the peripheral edges  of the solar system, where the sun is dark and faded. But when someone brings their orbit close  to the sun we want to land there for a brief moment and see if actual living conditions exist. And if so, then maybe a small settlement can be formed, advice can be asked, a failure can be related to, a friendship can be formed.

#7 YOU BECOME FREE

At first we hug our boundaries in chains. We think “if we tell the girl we like her, she might not like me back”. We think, “If I say I like this candidate, my friends might hate me.” If I say X, everyone else might say Y. And so on. But more and more we start to feel where those boundaries are and we push them out. We push them further and further away from ourselves. Until finally they are so far away it’s as if they don’t exist at all. You don’t need money for that. Or a big house. Or a fancy degree or car. Every day, just push out those boundaries a little further.

75% of World is Vitamin D-Deficient: Are You?

Dr. Mercola  |  May 28 2014

Vitamin D deficiency is incredibly common in the US, but many Americans mistakenly believe they aren’t at risk because they consume vitamin-D-fortified foods (such as milk). There are very few foods that actually have therapeutic levels of vitamin D naturally and even fortified foods do not contain enough vitamin D to support your health needs. Despite its name, vitamin D is not a regular vitamin. It’s actually a steroid hormone that you are designed to obtain primarily through sun exposure, not via your diet.

Just How Widespread Is Vitamin D Deficiency?

Before the year 2000, very few doctors ever considered the possibility that you might be vitamin D deficient. But as the technology to measure vitamin D became inexpensive and widely available, more and more studies were done, and it became increasingly clear that vitamin D deficiency was absolutely rampant. For example, according to one of the leading vitamin D researchers, Dr. Michael Holick:

  • The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that 32 percent of children and adults throughout the US were vitamin D deficient — and this is grossly underestimated as they used vitamin D levels that were not consistent with optimal health.
  • The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey found that 50 percent of children aged one to five years, and 70 percent of children between the ages of six and 11, are deficient or insufficient in vitamin D
  • Researchers such as Dr. Holick estimate that 50 percent of the general population is at risk of vitamin D deficiency and insufficiency

Researchers have also noted that vitamin D deficiency is prevalent in adults of all ages who always wear sun protection (which blocks vitamin D production) or limit their outdoor activities.1 People with increased skin pigmentation (such as those whose ancestors are from Africa, the Middle East, or India) are also at risk, as are the elderly. It’s estimated that over 95 percent of US senior citizens may be deficient in vitamin D, not only because they tend to spend a lot of time indoors but also because they produce less in response to sun exposure (a person over the age of 70 produces about 30 percent less vitamin D than a younger person with the same sun exposure).2

7 Signs You May Be Vitamin D Deficient

The only way to know for sure if you’re vitamin D deficient is via blood testing. However, there are some signs and symptoms to be aware of as well. If any of the following apply to you, you should get your vitamin D levels tested sooner rather than later.

1. You Have Darker Skin

African Americans are at greater risk of vitamin D deficiency, because if you have dark skin, you may need as much as 10 times more sun exposure to produce the same amount of vitamin D as a person with pale skin!As Dr. Holick explained, your skin pigment acts as a natural sunscreen, so the more pigment you have, the more time you’ll need to spend in the sun to make adequate amounts of vitamin D.

2. You Feel “Blue”

Serotonin, the brain hormone associated with mood elevation, rises with exposure to bright light and falls with decreased sun exposure. In 2006, scientists evaluated the effects of vitamin D on the mental health of 80 elderly patients and found those with the lowest levels of vitamin D were 11 times more prone to be depressed than those who received healthy doses.3

3. You’re 50 or Older

As mentioned, as you get older your skin doesn’t make as much vitamin D in response to sun exposure. At the same time, your kidneys become less efficient at converting vitamin D into the form used by your body and older adults tend to spend more time indoors (i.e. getting even less sun exposure and therefore vitamin D).

4. You’re Overweight or Obese (or Have a Higher Muscle Mass)

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble, hormone-like vitamin, which means body fat acts as a “sink” by collecting it. If you’re overweight or obese, you’re therefore likely going to need more vitamin D than a slimmer person — and the same holds true for people with higher body weights due to muscle mass.

5. Your Bones Ache

According to Dr. Holick, many who see their doctor for aches and pains, especially in combination with fatigue, end up being misdiagnosed as having fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue syndrome.

“Many of these symptoms are classic signs of vitamin D deficiency osteomalacia, which is different from the vitamin D deficiency that causes osteoporosis in adults,” he says. “What’s happening is that the vitamin D deficiency causes a defect in putting calcium into the collagen matrix into your skeleton. As a result, you have throbbing, aching bone pain.”

6. Head Sweating

According to Dr. Holick, one of the first, classic signs of vitamin D deficiency is a sweaty head. In fact, physicians used to ask new mothers about head sweating in their newborns for this very reason. Excessive sweating in newborns due to neuromuscular irritability is still described as a common, early symptom of vitamin D deficiency.4

7. You Have Gut Trouble

Remember, vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin, which means if you have a gastrointestinal condition that affects your ability to absorb fat, you may have lower absorption of fat-soluble vitamins like vitamin D as well. This includes gut conditions like Crohn’s, celiac and non-celiac gluten sensitivity, and inflammatory bowel disease.

Researchers have pointed out that increasing levels of vitamin D3 among the general population could prevent chronic diseases that claim nearly one million lives throughout the world each year. Incidence of several types of cancer could also be slashed in half. As mentioned by Dr. Holick, one of the Nurses’ Health Studies showed that nurses who had the highest blood levels of 25-hydroxyvitamin D, averaging about 50 ng/ml, reduced their risk of developing breast cancer by as much as 50 percent. Similarly, a Canadian study done by Dr. Knight showed that women who reported having the most sun exposure as a teenager and young adult had almost a 70 percent reduced risk of developing breast cancer. Dr. Holick noted:

“Studies have shown that if you improve your vitamin D status, it reduces risk of colorectal cancer, prostate cancer, and a whole host of other deadly cancers by 30 to 50 percent. You’re correct. Cancer is a big deal. You need to realize that vitamin D is playing a very important role in helping to maintain cell growth and to help fight cancer when a cancer cell is developing in your body.”

Vitamin D also fights infections, including colds and the flu, as it regulates the expression of genes that influence your immune system to attack and destroy bacteria and viruses. In this interview above, Dr. Holick expounds on these and many other health benefits of vitamin D. For instance, optimizing your vitamin D levels can help protect against:

  • Cardiovascular disease. Vitamin D is very important for reducing hypertension, atherosclerotic heart disease, heart attack, and stroke. According to Dr. Holick, one study showed that vitamin D deficiency increased the risk of heart attack by 50 percent. What’s worse, if you have a heart attack and you’re vitamin D deficient, your risk of dying from that heart attack creeps up to nearly 100 percent!
  • Autoimmune diseases. Vitamin D is a potent immune modulator, making it very important for the prevention of autoimmune diseases, like multiple sclerosis and inflammatory bowel disease.
  • Infections, including influenza. It also helps you fight infections of all kinds. A study done in Japan, for example, showed that schoolchildren taking 1,200 units of vitamin D per day during winter reduced their risk of getting influenza A infection by about 40 percent. I believe it’s far more prudent, safer, less expensive, and most importantly, far more effective to optimize your vitamin D levels than to get vaccinated against the flu.
  • DNA repair and metabolic processes. One of Dr. Holick’s studies showed that healthy volunteers taking 2,000 IUs of vitamin D per day for a few months up-regulated 291 different genes that control up to 80 different metabolic processes, from improving DNA repair to having effect on autoxidation (oxidation that occurs in the presence of oxygen and/or UV radiation, which has implications for aging and cancer, for example), boosting your immune system and many other biological processes.

Economic Inequality Debate Heating Up in the Mainstream

Jennifer Rankin  |  The Guardian  |  May 26 2014

Thomas Piketty has accused the Financial Times of ridiculous and dishonest criticism of his economics book on inequality, which has become a publishing sensation.

The French economist, whose 577-page tome Capital in the Twenty-First Century has become an unlikely must-read for business leaders and politicians alike, said it was ridiculous to suggest that his central thesis on rising inequality was incorrect.

The controversy blew up when the FT accused Piketty of errors in transcribing numbers, as well as cherry-picking data or not using original sources.

The newspaper concluded there was little evidence in Piketty’s original sources to verify his theory that the richest were accumulating more wealth, widening the gap between the haves and the have-nots in Europe and the United States.

In an interview with the Agence France-Presse news agency, the economist said: “The FT is being ridiculous because all of its contemporaries recognise that the biggest fortunes have grown faster.”

While the available data was imperfect, it did not undermine his central argument about widening inequality, he said. “Where the Financial Times is being dishonest is to suggest that this changes things in the conclusions I make, when in fact it changes nothing. More recent studies only support my conclusions, by using different sources.”

Writing to the FT before the AFP interview, Piketty said he had put all his data online to encourage an open and transparent debate.

“I have no doubt that my historical data series can be improved and will be improved in the future … But I would be very surprised if any of the substantive conclusions about the long-run evolution of wealth distributions were much affected by these improvements.”

In his book Piketty draws on data spanning two centuries and 20 countries to show how the western world is reverting to levels of inequality last seen during the Belle Epoque period of 1871-1914. The findings have won him an audience with Barack Obama’s economic advisers and a spot on the Amazon bestseller lists on both sides of the Atlantic.

Algae Biofuel Can Help Meet World Energy Demand

Mary-Ann Muffoletto  |  phys.org  | May 26 2014

Microalgae-based biofuel not only has the potential to quench a sizable chunk of the world’s energy demands, say Utah State University researchers. It’s a potential game-changer.

“That’s because microalgae produces much higher yields of fuel-producing biomass than other traditional fuel feedstocks and it doesn’t compete with food crops,” says USU mechanical engineering graduate student Jeff Moody.

With USU colleagues Chris McGinty and Jason Quinn, Moody published findings from an unprecedented worldwide microalgae productivity assessment in the May 26, 2014, online Early Edition of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. The team’s research was supported by the U.S. Department of Energy.

Despite its promise as a  source, the USU investigators questioned whether “pond scum” could be a silver bullet-solution to challenges posed by fossil fuel dependence.

“Our aim wasn’t to debunk existing literature, but to produce a more exhaustive, accurate and realistic assessment of the current global yield of microalgae biomass and lipids,” Moody says.

With Quinn, assistant professor in USU’s Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, and McGinty, associate director of USU’s Remote Sensing/Geographic Information Systems Laboratory in the Department of Wildland Resources, Moody leveraged a large-scale, outdoor microalgae growth model. Using meteorological data from 4,388 global locations, the team determined the current global productivity potential of .

“Our results were much more conservative than those found in the current literature,” Quinn says. “Even so, the numbers are impressive.”

Algae, he says, yields about 2,500 gallons of biofuel per acre per year. In contrast, soybeans yield approximately 48 gallons; corn about 18 gallons.

“In addition, soybeans and corn require arable land that detracts from food production,” Quinn says. “Microalgae can be produced in non-arable areas unsuitable for agriculture.”

The researchers estimate untillable land in Brazil, Canada, China and the U.S. could be used to produce enough algal biofuel to supplement more than 30 percent of those countries’ fuel consumption.

“That’s an impressive percentage from renewable energy,” Moody says. “Our findings will help to justify the investment in technology development and infrastructure to make algal biofuel a viable fuel source.”

Edible Plants ‘Talk’ To Animal Cells and Promote Healing

Sayer Ji  |  Waking Times  |  May 24 2014

A groundbreaking new study published in Molecular Nutrition & Food Research titled, “Interspecies communication between plant and mouse gut host cells through edible plant derived exosome-like nanoparticles,” reveals a new way that food components ‘talk’ to animal cells by regulating gene expression and conferring significant therapeutic effects. With the recent discovery that non-coding microRNA’s in food are capable of directly altering gene expression within human physiology,[1] this new study further concretizes the notion that the age old aphorism ‘you are what you eat’ is now consistent with cutting edge molecular biology.

Exosomes: The ‘Missing Link’ In How Plants and Animal Cells Communicate and Collaborate

This is the first study of its kind to look at the role of exosomes, small vesicles secreted by plant and animal cells that participate in intercellular communication, in interspecies (plant-animal) communication.

The study explained the biological properties of exosomes as follows:

“Exosomes are produced by a variety of mammalian cells including immune, epithelial, and tumor cells [11–15]. Exosomes play a role in intercellular communication and can transport mRNA, miRNA, bioactive lipids, and proteins between cells [16–19]. Upon contact, exosomes transfer molecules that can render new properties and/or reprogram their recipient cells.”

While most of the research on exosomes has focused on their role in pathological states such as tumor promotion, they were recently found to play a key role in stimulating regeneration within damaged cardiac tissue,[2] and are known to be found in human breast milk, further underscoring how irreplaceable it is vis-à-vis synthesized infant formula.[3]

The New Study

The investigators isolated plant derived exosome-like nanoparticles (EPDENs) from ginger, carrot, grape and grapefruit, and observed their behavior in mammalian cells (mice).

They chose these commonly consumed edible fruits and vegetables because,

“It is well established that a plant-derived diet has great influence on regulation of mammalian host cell homeostasis, in particular, cells in the digestive system [1–3]. Deregulation of plant-derived diet regulated host cell homeostasis leads to increased susceptibility to infections, chronic inflammatory bowel diseases, and cancer [4–10].

They noted, “the cellular and molecular machinery regulating such interspecies mutualism between a plant-derived diet and the mammalian gut is not fully defined.” Their new study aimed to gain new insight into defining the mechanisms through which cross-kingdom crosstalk occurs.

Plant Exosomes Affect Mammalian Cells Intimately

After isolating and characterizing exosome-like nanoparticles from all four edible plants, the researchers discovered they possessed remarkable similarity in size and structure to mammalian-derived exosomes. Furthermore, the study showed “that these exosome-like nanoparticles are taken up by intestinal macrophages and stem cells, and have biological effects on the recipient cells.”

The biological effects were described as follows:

  • Ginger exosome-like nanoparticles strongly induced heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) and IL-10 expressed in macrophages, an indication of anti-inflammatory and antoxidant properties.
  • Fruit-derived exosome-like nanoparticles including grape and grapefruit induced Wnt/TCF4 activation, which is a key component of the anti-inflammatory response
  • All tested foods activated nuclear translocation of Nrf2, a key regulator of the HO1 gene, which has an important role in anti-inflammation and antioxidation; ginger was found to be most potent, followed by grapefruit, carrot and grape

Notably, EPDENs were found to be resistant to gastric and intestinal enzymatic digestion, further indicating they are capable of exerting significant biological effects by escaping digestive degradation, which has also been found with lectins and microRNA’s within edible foods.

The researchers discussed their results:

“Our findings show that exosome-like nanoparticles are present in edible fruits and vegetables and reveal a previously unrecognized strategy by which plants communicate with mammalian cells via exosome-like nanoparticles in the gut, and in particular intestinal macrophages and stem cells. We found that edible plants contain large amounts of nanoparticles. Like mammalian exosomes, further characterization of the plant nanoparticles led to identifying them as exosome- like nanoparticles based on the nanoparticles being com- posed of proteins, lipids, and miRNAs. EPDENs from different types of plants have different biological effects on the recipient mammalian cells. This finding opens up a new avenue to further study the molecular mechanisms underlying how the plant kingdom crosstalks with mammalian cells such as intestinal macrophages and stem cells via EPDENs. This information may provide the molecular basis of using multiple plant-derived agents for better therapeutic effect than any single plant-derived agent.”

Healing the Planet with the Power of Mass Intention

LynneMcTaggart.com |  May 23 2014

Since 2007 I have been asking a few seemingly stupid questions:  Can the thoughts you think about things actually change them?  And is the effect even greater if lots of people are thinking the same thought at the same time? Is it powerful enough, say, to heal another person – or even the world?

To answer these questions, I enlisted a team of physicists, biologists, psychologists, statisticians and neuroscientists from prestigious international universities and, in total, several hundred thousand of my international readers to carry out 26 of the largest mind-over-matter experiments in history.  I’ve run experiments on leaves, plants, seeds, water, hotspots and now individuals in need of our help.

And now, after our first Healing Intention Experiment on a human being, I have my answer, which I’m going to share with you tomorrow.

Tomorrow, over a two-hour broadcast on Quantum TV, we will reveal the latest and possibly most ambitious of our experiments: to heal a Gulf and Afghanistan war veteran suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.

The Healing Intention Experiment, was double-blind, which means the neither the patients suffering from extreme anxiety nor the scientist himself studying them knew which patient we chose.

Neuroscientist Dr. Jeffrey Fannin, a psychologist with expertise in ‘brain mapping’ states of mental disorder such as anxiety, depression or attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, who organized the experiment, hooked up our two patients with an EEG machine and then monitored their brain waves plus the brain waves of one ‘intender’ sitting in another room, who would participate with us in sending intention to the chosen target.

Over the month since our experiment, he has monitored all three, clinically and through brain mapping. The results will blow your mind, as it did ours. We’re still reeling from the result.

On tomorrow’s show, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • See a video of our target, Todd Voss, ‘before’, during  and ‘after’ the Experiment
  • Observe his brain patterns in real time during the Experiment
  • See Dr Fannin’s scientific findings
  • Find out what happened to many of our participants, who describeecstatic, transcendent experiences of oneness, often life-transforming changes and personal healings
  • See one of the ‘intenders’ as he describes what happened to him
  • Join in with another Healing Intention Experiment to heal another patient with anxiety
  • Get to experience this transcendent moment (and even the chance to heal yourself)
  • Listen to Russian physicist Dr. Konstantin Korotkov, who has worked with me on a number of Intention Experiments
  • Ask questions of me, Dr. Fannin and Dr. Korotkov via the Quantum TV live chat, monitored by Quantum University’s Dr. Paul Drouin
  • Connect afterward with others to compare experience

It’s free to all, and this time we have a simpler entry system, to ensure that no one is locked out.

But you need to register: https://quantumworld.tv/second-intention-experiment

If you have registered already, or did so for the April 26th experiment, you will automatically be sent a link to the program tomorrow, four hours before.  And do make sure to login early so we can fix things if you can’t get on.

Here are those times again.

Night of Shooting Stars: Meteor Shower Camelopardalid

Jessica Durando  |  USA TODAY Network

A first-of-its-kind meteor shower is expected to happen Friday night and into early Saturday morning. Here is what you need to know about the all-new shower:

The meteor shower will appear to radiate out from a point near the constellation Camelopardalis. NASA/JPL-Caltech

The meteor shower will appear to radiate out from a point near the constellation Camelopardalis. NASA/JPL-Caltech

1. What is the Camelopardalid meteor shower? It would be dust from a periodic comet called the 209P/LINEAR. The Earth has never run into the debris from this particular comet before.

MORE: New shower could turn into meteor storm

2. Why is it unique? Unlike other meteor showers expected to be visible around the same time of year, the Camelopardalid is uncommon because its debris is strongly influenced by Jupiter’s gravity. No one has seen it before, but the May shower could rival the Perseid meteor shower in August.

3. When is the optimal time to view it? People in North America will get the best look, and peak activity will be from 2 a.m. to 4 a.m. ET Saturday.

March to Stop Monsanto: May 24 Everywhere

FoodDemocracyNow.org

What an incredible difference a year makes. Last year at this time, Congress had just passed the Monsanto Protection Act and it was signed into law by President Obama on March 26, 2013. Six months later, after hundreds of thousands of phone calls and emails by people like you, Congress repealed the Monsanto Protection Act as a direct result of your actions.

Today, on the eve of the second annual March Against Monsanto, farmers and activists are celebrating recent victories in Vermont, where the 1st no-strings-attached GMO labeling bill was signed into law by Governor Shumlin. And only days ago, farmers and activists in Jackson and Josephine counties crushed GMO seed and chemical giants Monsanto, Syngenta and Dow Chemical with a ban on GMOs from being planted in their counties. There are incredible victories, but this is just the beginning.

Today, Food Democracy Now! is calling on you to join the global March Against Monsanto in an effort to stand up for our democratic rights and protect the planet from Monsanto’s toxic influence.

Why we’re marching: To Stop the Continued Corruption of Our Democracy, the Poisoning of Our Environment, the Loss of Biodiversity and the Continued Assault on the Basic Rights of Farmers and Citizens Around the World.

Read about Monsanto’s corrupt history in The March to Stop Monsanto Huffington Post article published last year by our founder Dave Murphy

The problem with Monsanto is not just their corrosive lobbying practices, but the fact that the products they produce, genetically engineered foods and chemical weedkillers, are in more than 75% of the processed foods that we eat and feed our families everyday.

In terms of corruption and consumption, Monsanto’s reach is global. And it must be stopped!

If you can’t join a March tomorrow, please share this image with your family or friends to help spread the word.

Despite these recent victories, we know that Monsanto and their allies in the junk food and chemical industry won’t give up easily. Already, they’re working behind closed doors to once again to undermine our basic rights in their pursuit of poisoned profits in Congress and on a global scale.

Monsanto Manipulates Global Trade and Undermines Free Markets: Stop the Global Monsanto Protection Act

While Americans can currently celebrate the death of the original Monsanto Protection Act, another, more sinister threat looms over the horizon.

If you thought the Monsanto Protection Act was bad, the secret trade deals called the TPP and TAFTA are a global nightmare. Right now two secret trade agreements, known as the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and Trans-Atlantic Free Trade Agreement (TAFTA), also called the Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) are being finalized for fast-track approval in the U.S.

Today Monsanto and more than 600 other multinational corporations and industry front groups are working hand in glove with the Obama administration to draft secret global trade agreements that will undermine the democratic rule of law and place our legal protections in the hands of shady corporate lobbyists.

If allowed to pass, these secret trade agreements would impose punishing restrictions on local democracy, giving multinational corporations like Monsanto and the biotech industry the unprecedented right to demand taxpayer compensation for policies that corporations deem a barrier to their profits – like GMO labeling.

We need your help to stop this today!

Join Food Democracy Now! in halting the approval to the Global Monsanto Protection Act.

To find out more about the March Against Monsanto, go to their website or follow Occupy Monsanto for events as they unfold throughout this historic day as we march to regain our food democracy!

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. – Edmund Burke
