4 Ways to Open Your Sacral Chakra for More Joy & Sensuality

I shot this week’s video in Denver, Colorado in the popular City park so I could give you that sacral chakra feeling of water and play.


Our society is trying to shift into the feminine right now, but old habits die hard, so many of us still put too much emphasis on work, operate from our head, and get caught into monotonous routines.

Yuck.

Work is essential and thinking is a generally good thing — especially when we do so from inspiration and our creative impulses. But there’s no doubt that the majority of us need more play and joy — and to live more from our embodied, feminine essence.

So, in this week’s video I share four simple, enjoyable ways you can begin to tap into your feminine energy and more importantly, LIVE FROM IT on a regular basis.

Here they are — 4 Ways to Enliven Your Sacral Chakra:

  1. Dance and move — especially the sensual, hip-swiveling kinds of movement like salsa, Zumba, belly-dancing, and more. If you aren’t big on dance, try hoola-hooping. And make sure you allow your body to move spontaneously! (because spontaneity is a big part of the sacral chakra).
  2. Breathe and ground from your hips and lower abdomen – just imagine your lungs are in your pelvic area and breathe into that juicy space, and exhale down into mother earth. You’ll get more sensual and more grounded at the same time — a great combination.
  3. Change one habit daily – the root chakra is the opposite of the sacral (and the home of the Divine Masculine which is why there is such a big attraction between people who hold masculine energy and people who live from feminine energy). The root is about habit and routine, whereas the sacral is about change and variety, which means you can boost your sacral simply by breaking routine — especially if you can do it in a FUN way. How can you break through habits in your daily life? Declare a playful war on monotony and surprise yourself! You’ll be more excited to be in your own company, and so will others.
  4. Feel and celebrate your emotions. Notice I didn’t say EXPRESS. There is nothing wrong with expressing your emotions. In fact, it is essential in the big picture. But two equally challenging issues in this arena are: not expressing enough and expressing way too much (ON others). The “on others” part is key. There is no such thing as expressing too much to yourself. You can journal, sing songs, even talk to yourself and be as full on emotional as you’d like. That’s always positive as long as you ACCEPT all of your feelings and come from a place of self-love, rather than judgment. The point of this exercise is to have a better and better relationship with the full palette of your own emotions. Your life juice is tied into your emotions and you want to let them both flow.

We’re in a time when feminine energy is not always soft (as the Dalai Lama said, we women are the change-makers for a new future), but it is powerful and it is based in the pelvic bowl. So feel into your hips and step into your essence!
