Please don’t hate me, but it took me three Harry Potter films to finally appreciate this fantasy series. First, I’m not into magical, supernatural or other world films. Second, I’m. Just. Not. Okay? But like millions of people living in this chaotic world and trying to find solace in films, I fell in love with J. K. Rowling and all her work. As it turns out, she’s one fine author and definitely a finer wordsmith. I don’t think it’s possible to read her books without having a highlight pen beside you because she is overflowing with empowering quotes. Of course, we need to make a list of that. We all need an extra dose of empowerment, and a kind reminder that we are magical humans in our unique ways. Yes, that includes you, girlfriend. You are a super cool and magical person this universe is very thankful to have. And Rowling wants you to remember that.

15. “The Stories We Love Best Do Live In Us Forever.”

Yes, yes, and yes. They sure do. Okay, so we sometimes forget this. We get so consumed with responsibilities and making ends meet and keeping up with society’s standards of living. We become so focused on what others say that we should do and we end up drowning in all these. So there’s no question when we, the mere humans that we are, forget those precious experience and stories of purity and innocence. Just as J.K. Rowling puts it, the best stories live in us. We may be consumed by many other things in life and we may have this ever-changing focus but deep within us, right there in your core is the best of the best stories. All those amazing experiences and big, bold dreams – they’re all within us. We didn’t really forget. We just accidentally pushed them to the farthest, darkest corner of our lives. And it’s our responsibility to remember those from time to time.

14. “It Is Our Choices That Show What We Truly Are, Far More Than Our Abilities.”

How many times have you had a bright idea but decided to shrug it off because you’re afraid people won’t understand it, or that you think you can’t do it, or that people would say you can’t do it? I guess you’ll say “a lot.” Don’t worry, that’s totally normal. That’s how life works. We all have these small voices in our minds that have endless debates, and we have this insanely advanced thoughts of what society will think if we show them this hidden attitude of ours. Or this hidden talent. Or if we introduce this bright, unique idea. Thus, we end up choosing to keep hiding those ideas and attitudes and everything we got. We want to fit in society’s mold so badly we end up choosing to hide our true selves. Change this way of thinking, girl. Show others who you really are and what you’re capable of, and you will be amazed at how freeing it feels.

13. “We Do Not Need Magic To Change The World, We Carry All The Power We Need Inside Ourselves Already: We Have The Power To Imagine Better.”

To the readers who thought my title was too cheesy, well, here it is. Here’s what I was trying to say, and clearly J.K. Rowling said it better. We carry the power inside ourselves; the magic this universe needs. Because each of us are worthy of a spot here on this tiny, blue circle called earth. So when you’re feeling super tired and when you have no idea what the heck is going on and you feel like you’re losing the game, remember this quote. Remind yourself that you don’t need this or that to function and build amazing things. your mind is already full of bright ideas and your heart is overflowing with power and passion and love. You’re always on fire, dear. You’re always on fire. Sometimes, you feel like the flames are dying, and that’s okay. Allow yourself to rest. But always remember the embers glowing from within you.

12. “Life Is Often Painful, But Always Valuable.”

Pain is always going to be with us, people. There’s nothing we can do about it. Whether we like it or not, whether we live our lives through our own desires or we let others take on the driver’s seat, the pain will always be there. It will visit us and it’s not going to take no for an answer. So there’s really no point in dwelling. There’s also no point in asking why you are always in pain or thinking the universe must probably hate you. It doesn’t. It makes us all experience what it’s like to be in pain. Instead, focus on the lessons and values pain is trying to teach you. Because hey, it’s there for a reason and while it’s not there to make us feel better (because, pain), it’s there to teach us something. So in every painful experience, in every failure, and in every breaking, find out the lesson it wants you to learn. And learn it by heart.

11. “I Solemnly Swear That I Am Up To No Good.”

We love this quote. I personally want this tattooed on my arm. You don’t really have to swear but please be honest for one second and admit whether or not you have experienced doing the wrong thing instead do the thing that you know deep down inside is right. If you’ve never experienced that then I’m not really sure how that’s possible, but for those who have, you can probably relate to that. We live in a world filled with signs and rules and laws, thanks to all human beings (a.k.a. us). But that doesn’t mean we have to follow all of it. The word rebel exists for a reason, and it is there to make us feel more alive. Admit it, doing the wrong thing despite fully knowing it is very wrong, it does make you feel alive, right? It makes you feel like while you’re sometimes up to no good, you’re having fun. You’re breaking rules and you’re living. Because that’s what we’re supposed to do here, right? We’re supposed to live and enjoy this one-shot life.

10. “Sadness Is Not A Bad Thing — To Cry And To Feel.”

And then we have this super sweet and interesting quote. That’s the beauty of reading books and articles, you get to stumble upon amazing words that are so short but impactful. See, we all think sadness is a bad thing. We think that sitting in one corner, choosing not to function for the day is already depression and we need to see a shrink. Hey, can’t it be that we’re just not in the mood? Sadness comes in all shapes and sizes. Some people cope up with it easily, others don’t. But the bottom line is and will always be the same – it’s not a bad thing. It’s not something to be ashamed of and definitely not a sign of weakness. If you’re afraid, or you feel like crying, or you’re confused, revel in those emotions. Bask in them and let yourself feel. Just like happiness, we also need a hint of sadness in our lives to balance it all.

9. “Love Is The Strongest Power There Is.”

Well, for me, there are only two powerful things – love and croissants. With love and croissants, I can take on the world. Seriously, though, love is indeed powerful and you’re one bold, magical woman for allowing yourself to love and be loved. Because with love, we need to be vulnerable. We need to teach ourselves how to walk on fire and on glass, and how to be fire and glass. Love entails many other emotions and dealing with those, it’s not easy. But because this emotion is strong, there’s no running away from it. No matter how introverted you are or how depressed, even if you push people away, love is still around the corner. So instead of trying to avoid it, just feel it. Feel the love and let others feel your love for them too. It may not solve your problems but it will surely make you feel better, and that’s sometimes what really counts.
