Republicans Muster a Surprisingly Classy Sendoff to Ron Paul

The Republican National Covention aired a tribute sendoff video to Congressman Ron Paul’s political career from Tampa on Wednesday night. Predictably, the video emphasized Paul’s economic platform and credentials, while carefully avoiding his views on foreign policy and national security. That being said, the video was surprisingly classy, and was probably as good as could have been hoped for from the decidedly establishment RNC. Some people vehemently disagree with this assessment, and that is understandable.

It is worth noting of course, that Ron Paul was legitimately eligible for the nomination, but was denied this opportunity through last-minute mafia-style corruption on the part of the Romney camp and RNC rules committee that would put even the Teamster’s to shame.  It is also evident that Romney is now shifting gears into full-on pandering mode to the Ron Paul liberty base, as without them it will be mathematically impossible for him to win in the general election. But that being said, this tribute was a rousing and respectful tribute to a truly historical political career.
