Are Suncreens Causing Cancer and Killing Coral Reefs?
_Featured_, Toxicity Sunday, June 26th, 2011A recent guest on the radio show and podcast Coast to Coast AM with George Noory, Elizabeth Plourde turned the dermatalogical world on its head by suggesting that sunscreens actually did more harm than good in protecting humans from harmful sun rays as well as do damage to coral reefs and sea life. She went as far as to say sunscreens may be causing cancer rather than preventing it. Sunscreen prevents the creation of vitamin D which the human body uses to prevent many diseases. Other chemicals in the sunscreen such as fragrances and petroleum products act on the immune system and may be carcinogenic as well. As if that wasn’t enough scientific research has determined that chemicals in sunscreens cause damage to coral reefs and may end up in our drinking water.
