She takes us on a tour of the Hipppocampus that is responsible for mood and memory, explores the relationship between depression and neurogenesis, and most importantly shares a list of activities that we can do to increase neurogenesis and things we should avoid that reduce neurogenesis.

Here are the things Thuret claims increase neurogenesis:

  1. Learning
  2. Sex
  3. Running
  4. Healthy diet

And here are the things she says decrease neurogenesis:

  1. Stress
  2. Sleep deprivation
  3. Aging
  4. Unhealthy diet
