It is widely known that the United States has financed expansion through fiat currency, substituting money with debt. Less understood are the effects of fiat currency and fractional reserve banking on all but the wealthiest people. In “Gold and Economic Freedom” (1968), former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan said “Deficit spending is simply a scheme for the ‘hidden’ confiscation of wealth”.

Forty years later the system collapsed, propelling millions into financial ruin. Since then, more debt has been created and given to banks with the intent of averting a foreclosure crisis and stimulating the economy. But that hasn’t resolved the economic crisis of American families.

The population now works longer and harder for less buying power as tens of millions are ejected into long-term unemployment with less social support. Families lose homes to foreclosure, homelessness increases and shelters run over capacity while repossessed houses sit empty, continuing to erode already plummeted property values. The monetary system, propped up with tooth picks and held together with bubble gum, has failed society, and without a new plan, will spiral into an economic abyss.

“Fiat Greed”, written in late 2008, is about the long history, sinister intent and now admitted collusion of operating our current monetary system. While many insist a precious metal backed system is necessary for an ethical and functioning trade based economy, this video suggests a completely different vision for a potential long term solution, calling for immediate empowered right action from every individual.
