Don’t Let Your Research Kill Your Dreams

Compared to what we know about human history, we certainly live in an expansive time, don’t we?

Way back in time in the 80s when I was a child, if you needed to know something you had to hope you already knew it or that you knew someone else who did! There wasn’t the convenience of Google at our fingertips. Many of our questions went unanswered.

I really do love technology, and I love that I have access to the answers of so many of my questions. I’ve seen the time before Google, and I much prefer the freedom that comes from our search engines.

In my opinion, the internet today is an accurate representation of how the Law of Attraction works. You ask the question, and the answer is given.  It’s fantastic!

If knowledge is power, we are indeed quite powerful these days. After all, most of us have almost unrestricted access to a massive library of knowledge that gets bigger and bigger every single day of our lives.

However, although I think search engines are amazing, I do think it’s very, very important that we become aware of what kinds of questions we ask of them.

Why? Because research can kill your dreams if you’re not careful!

For example, have you ever had some kind of mysterious medical condition you wanted to clear up? Maybe you had some weird symptoms you’d never experienced before, and you just wanted them to go away.

In that moment, your dream was to be healthy, right?

But then, you took to your computer or smartphone, and started typing away, frantically trying to figure out exactly “what” you had.  You did a bunch of research on your condition, and the more you started digging, the more bad stuff you found.

Instead of getting healthier, your research led you further and further down the path of pessimism and stress, didn’t it? Some small innocuous symptom started to look like a bigger and bigger problem. Perhaps you even found that you had to go see a doctor or a specialist.

Your dream was to get healthy, but your reality was taking you further and further from that dream.

This happens to the best of us from time to time.  We want to solve our problems, so we give them more attention.  Unfortunately, because we have access to an infinite database of knowledge we are easily lured to become hyper-focused on precisely the problem we want to avoid.

With the Law of Attraction, we get more of what we focus on.  So if we are focused on symptoms, more symptoms will appear.  If we are focused on a problem in our business, more problems will emerge.  If we are focused on how bad our kids are, they’ll only get worse.  It is law.

To be clear, I’m certainly not saying you shouldn’t use search engines and I’m not saying Google is the devil.  In fact, I would say a lot more good has come from our ability to research than bad.  Just be careful about how you use these powerful tools.

Additionally, I’m also not saying you shouldn’t go to the doctor or consult a specialist.  If you’ve already manifested an unhealthy state, going to see the doctor may be your path of least resistance back to health.  However, I am saying it would be wise to stop Googling the symptoms and choose a different method of research instead.

For instance, if you want to be healthy, state your query “how to be healthy” rather than “how to get over an illness.”  If you want your kids to behave, type in “how to have a happy family” rather than “how to deal with the stress of parenting.” If you want to find love, type “how to find my soul mate” rather than “why do I always attract jerks?”

You’ll find by using positive questioning like this, you will be led to articles and resources that give you much more inspiration and hope.  You’ll find more positive ideas and suggestions when you lead with positive questions.

So in all of your internet queries, place the emphasis on what you want, rather than what you don’t want. Let your positive research lead you toward your dreams, and resist the temptation to get drawn down into the rabbit hole of endless problems, setbacks and symptoms.

Just remember that the research you do on the search engines is affected by the Law of Attraction just like every other thing else is.  The more we focus on the problems, the bigger they will get!

Please be careful how you use search engines and technology these days because the wrong kind of research can kill your dreams. Knowledge is powerful stuff, so make sure to use it wisely!
