Ben Swann discusses the historical accuracy of comments made last week by rapper Ice-T on the real reason for the Second Amendment. Said Ice T: “Yeah, it’s legal in the United States. It’s part of our Constitution. You know, the right to bear arms is because that’s the last form of defense against tyranny – not to hunt.”
Ben says Ice-T was correct. The Second Amendment states: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
Swann makes the following points:
- The militia is not regular military.
- The Second Amendment is for the security of a free “State.”
- The Second Amendment reminds federal or general government that each state’s citizenry would be armed and ready to defend themselves should the need arise.
- The Second Amendment is about the ability of citizens to protect themselves from tyranny.
