Released on July 3^rd, 2012, ‘Varanasi Voyage: Yoga Meditation Series Vol.1’ is comprised of John Matarazzo of LOGICAL DRIFT who remixes and overdubs master recordings of the great Pandit Ravi Shankar. Shankar and Matarazzo join energies on a transcendental trip; drifting down the Ganges on a mind elevating meditational journey to the sacred place of Ravi Shankar’s birth; the legendary city of Varanasi on the banks of the Ganges River.

These recordings of Ravi Shankar have been sitting in the NYCMusic vault for some time now, waiting for the right moment to shine. With albums by Ravi Shankar and his daughter, Anoushka Shankar both hitting the world music charts on iTunes recently, it’s indeed the perfect time to introduce Varanasi Voyage to traditional Indian sitar music fans, as well as to the yoga lifestyle community. The mesmerizing sound of the sitar by Shankar and electronic remix by Matarazzo together creates a deep Delta state of relaxation. Alpha and Theta wave themes combine to create a state of visualization and deep meditation, while Beta and Gamma wave tracks are created to inspire and generate cognition and concentration; creating a perfect mix for the Yoga practitioner.
