However, it is probably best known for its use as a painkiller. Marijuana it is used to relieve many different types of pain, including pain caused by chemotherapy, inflammatory diseases, and injuries.

Thanks to a new invention developed by Foria, a company focused on producing innovative cannabis products, marijuana’s painkilling properties may mean the end of period cramps as well.

Cannabis Tampons

Although the product being sold by Foria, called Foria Relief, aren’t typically considered to be tampons, they are suppositories that are inserted in a similar fashion. They can even be used along with tampons to maximize their comforting effects.

The suppositories are made out of only three natural ingredients: organic cocoa butter, THC oil, and CBD isolate. According to Foria, the combination of both THC oil and CBD isolate is meant to “activate certain cannabinoid receptors in the pelvic region when introduced into the body.”

This effect reportedly causes a decrease in pain and discomfort that often accompanies menstruation, and many users of the product have backed this claim up.

The cannabinoids found in the suppositories causes the nerves in the uterus, cervix, ovaries to block out pain. It also relaxes any of the surrounding smooth muscle tissue to further increase comfort during menstruation.

How To Use It

Foria Relief is meant to relieve pain closest to the area where it is inserted. This means it can be inserted vaginally to relieve pain in the womb area often caused by menstruation.

Some users have also reported benefits from inserting it rectally, claiming that it relieved pain in the back and hip area, places which are also commonly affected by menstruation.

  5. Always tying to turn to medicine or natural remedies rather than figuring it out why there is pain. I am convinced Menstruation was not supposed to be painful. A slight cramp or discomfort, your body letting your know, change is happening yeah but not ‘I can’t do anything, I am in pain’. We need to pay attention why there is pain when it should not. I personally get very uncomfortable when I am on a crappy diet, not drinking enough water with electrolyte or not consciously breathing through out the day. Also making peace with my body made a drastic change in the discomfort.

    • I live very fast. Not by choice but because I’m trying to keep up with the world that is happening around me, and that puts me under a lot of stress which results in painfull cycles sometimes. I’m aware of that but can do nothing about it, I can’t just change the way we live. So having something natural that can help is usefull. The solution is not permenant but it keeps you going.
