Meditation in the Workplace Increases ProductivityRecent studies have provided a business case for doing meditation in the workplace as a means to increase productivity.

Numerous studies have shown that meditation increases focus, problem solving, and creative thinking skills. Scientists have also discovered that meditators experience a greater sense of well-being. As little as four days of meditation training can enhance the ability to sustain attention and enhance cognitive flexibility.

The results of various meditation studies suggest that when people take short breaks throughout the day to sit quietly, breathe deeply, and shut out distractions, their ability to perform daily tasks increases significantly.

Studies of Zen Buddhist meditators found that long-term meditation actually increased brain (grey matter) volume. One study concluded that there was a decline in grey matter volume for the control group of non-meditators while increases for meditators.

Together, various scientific studies have demonstrate that meditation increases the functions that contribute to greater productivity at work.
