Why the Longest Journey is Always the One Back to Yourself

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Many times when it comes to the people that we are closest to in our lives, we can often get used to them being a certain way. It’s how we know them as who they are, right? We have a grip on what they like, things they enjoy doing and their own unique traits and quirks that make up their personality. But what we often lay over the reality of who they are is a bunch of our own expectations of them and once they fail to meet one of them or step outside of a traditional role we’ve placed them into, well then we are completely disappointed, aren’t we?

I’m not talking about excusing someone for walking away from major responsibilities, but rather in the case of someone just doing something out of character perhaps, or maybe trying something new that maybe we don’t have the guts to, and this new interest doesn’t necessarily harm anyone but might annoy you or make you feel out of control, etc.

You may or may not even be aware of this as a trigger, but anything that gives that crap feeling of not being seen, heard or appreciated is coming from your ego. This isn’t to say it’s wrong, it’s only to say it originates in a deep pace of believing threat there is something missing within you when the truth is you are already whole.

Anything that may threaten your sense of normalcy and routine which basically comes down to your sense of security you’ve laid within this person to fulfill in you. But it’s no one else’s place to take care of our feelings but us. I think we often forget in our personal relationships is that we are each still our own person and we need to cherish that not only in each other but also within ourselves…

I recently realized, by seeing how someone else was depending so much on me for fulfillment, how much I was doing the same to someone else. And it’s amazing how life and the Universe work in such a way where the student is always the teacher is always the student and one is best to always remain humble and know that learning never stops. If you do stop learning, then you’ve technically stopped living for life, where our souls incarnate into the manifestation of matter reality to experience creation in the physical realm. Which brings us back to remembering who we really are.

They say if give a man a fish he will eat for a day, but if you teach a man to fish he will eat for a lifetime. This has always been one of my favorite quotes because it expresses just how the state of the world currently is and could be at the same time. What I mean by that is, we all say we want to help, but only willing to go so far most of us. We’ve equated the value of money to have the same value as time, and while is an illusion it truly is priceless in this realm.

We are quick to cut a check to charity but refuse to give our time to connect with those in our local communities. We need to encourage our children that their greatest contributions to the world are what are in their hearts, not their bank accounts and while money is merely an energy, until the world can fully shift into the belief system that money or the lack of it is what determines a person’s self-worth or value in this world, we must bring them up in an energy knowing that true value is what we carry in our hearts.

This way, we never truly wander that far from ourselves. Currently, in our society, our children are lead so far away from themselves. We teach them to be distracted constantly; anything to keep them from going within themselves for answers. Anything to keep them from trusting what their inner compass tells them, which has always been and will always be our greatest guide ever bestowed upon us.

If you feel lost, remember the first step, the reason, the what and the why. Ask yourself what purpose are you walking this path and you’ll begin to see where you got distracted and wandered off your path. And for those that have wandered a bit far away from yourself, remember that the best way to remember who you are is to remember where you come from. And if you always come from your heart, you will never be lost.
