Electoral Reform Map: Redistributing America’s Voting Power
_Featured_, Politics Monday, February 18th, 2013
(Conscious Life News) What would the United States look like if we threw out the old state lines in favor of evenly distributing the country’s population? That’s what New York City artist and urban planner Neil Freeman set out to do.
He reasoned that redistributing states into equal voting shares could be a possible solution for growing dissatisfaction with the Electoral College, which Freeman calls “a time-honored, logical system for picking the chief executive of the United States.” The American political sphere has paid increasing attention to the popular vote in recent elections, mainly because the two measurements have yielded different results lately.
So Freeman drafted an Electoral Reform Map, shown below, as an art project not a serious proposal. Even so, his map has sparked a conversation about the potential benefits and hurdles of redistricting.

Freeman details his process and naming methods on his blog. Click here to read the full post or find out how to contact Freeman.
