We all have things that we desire and we all have wishes that we want fulfilled. These desires may change from time to time, but according to numerology we all have one main desire of our heart.

This heart desire is believed to govern part of our purpose in this life and can help direct us to our true intentions and motivations.

Our heart’s desire has a strong influence on everything we do and can also give us clues as to the shape and theme of our lives.

Using ancient Numerology practices, you can calculate your heart’s desire number using the letters of your birth name. Here is how to do it:

Calculating your Heart’s Desire Number:

To calculate your heart’s desire number take all of the vowels from your full birth name (middle name included).

Here is an example:

Jane Lauren Smith

A E A U E I

Note: The letter Y can also be used as a vowel when it sounds like a vowel (Eg. Bryan) or when Y is the only vowel in the syllable (Eg. Betty).

Once you have extracted the vowels, add up the corresponding numbers-

A= 1

E= 5

I= 9

O= 6

U= 3

Y=7

Here is an example using the same name from above-

1+5+1+3+5+1= 16

If you get double digits, add them together until you have single digit (the only time you won’t do this is if the answer is 11 or 22)

Using the example above-

1+6= 7

This would give you a Heart’s Desire Number of 7

Here is the meaning of each Heart Desire Number:

Heart Desire 1: Individuality

Your desire is to express your individual ideas and visions out into the world. You are highly driven and motivated and love to think outside the box. You are competitive and driven, especially if you feel passionate about something. You are very strong willed but have to be mindful of being stubborn and narrow-minded. Part of your soul purpose in this life is to learn how to take your individual and creative ideas and seamlessly integrate them into the world around you. You are also here to be a mover and shaker and to lead others instead of simply following the crowd.

Heart Desire 2: Collaboration

Your desire is to connect and work with others in order to create and leave an impact on the world. You are highly in-tune with the needs of others and are able to adapt to work and get along with almost anyone. You have an extremely caring, sensitive and intuitive nature. At times, you may have to be mindful of allowing yourself to be taken advantage of by others. You can also be overly sensitive and prone to over thinking. Part of your purpose in this life is learning how to work alongside others so you can create things for the greater good.

Heart Desire 3: Self-Expression

Your desire is to express yourself through your creativity, your passions and what you stand for.  You are a positive person and are likely to have a very active social life. You have deep thoughts and emotions and finding an outlet for these is always going to be beneficial. You are driven when you are inspired, but at times your energy can be scattered and it can be hard for you to stay directed. Part of your purpose in this life is to take your emotions and express them out into the world through your being and through the work that you do.

Heart Desire 4: Stability

Your desire is to seek groundedness and stability so you can bring your visions to life. You are a practical, thoughtful and logical soul that is here to create structure and order. You are highly organised, responsible and do well in careers that allow you to manage others. While you are great at organizing others, at times you can neglect your own life and this can cause you to place limits on yourself and become stagnant. Part of your purpose in this life is learning how to open your mind to new possibilities while still staying grounded. By doing so, you will be able to leave your mark on the world.

Heart Desire 5: Adventure

Your desire is to seek adventure in all aspects of your life. You long for a life of freedom and excitement. You dislike being in a routine for too long and need to change things up to keep things interesting. You are adaptable, versatile and you have a very strong imagination. This makes you highly creative and a very quick thinker. You can struggle with responsibility and order, but learning to make peace with this will help you to go far. Part of your purpose in this life is to learn how to find freedom through your commitments.

Heart Desire 6: Healer

Your desire is to help and be of service to others. You are always thinking about other people over yourself, however in the long run this can be detrimental to your own health and well being. While you are very caring and considerate of others, you have to learn how to be caring and considerate of yourself first. You are generous and sympathetic towards others, however at times you can also allow yourself to become too involved with other people’s problems. You can also be headstrong and overly protective of others. Part of your purpose in this life is learning to heal others through healing yourself first. When you do this, it allows you to become a powerful healer.

Heart Desire 7: Wisdom

Your desire is to gain wisdom so you can understand the deeper meanings of life. You enjoy reading, learning and are likely to be a life-long student. You also love teaching others and sharing your knowledge with the world. You have a very strong and sharp mind and are extremely intelligent. At times however, your strong mind can get the best of you and can lead to stress, anxiety and over thinking. It can also cause you to become withdrawn. Learning to tame the thoughts of your mind through meditation would be beneficial. Part of your purpose in this life is to gain wisdom and knowledge about the world but to also learn through living and being a part of it.

Heart Desire 8: Power

Your desire is to gain power so you can uplift yourself and others. You have a very strong drive and ambition and love to be the center of attention. You have the desire to lead others and are very focused when it comes to achieving your goals. When in balance, you can go far and become an inspiring leader, but when out of balance you can become materialistic or dominating. Learning to be humble and to not compete with others would be beneficial. Part of your purpose in this life is to lead with a generous heart and an open mind.
