The list of side effects of cholesterol reducing medications known as statins may now include depression and memory loss according to the Cochrane Library’s study. Scientists found that statin testing giving safe results was done by the pharmaceutical companies and more patients are being prescribed the drug than necessary.

One of the accusations is that doctors were getting monetary compensation for prescribing name brand drugs but in addition the doctors were urged to recommend undocumented applications for the drugs which is an illegal practice.
