It’s not uncommon for us all to get stuck sometimes and feel like our creative juices are simply cut off. But the good news is that there’s usually a simple explanation for what it’s happening and there’s a few things you can do to get those juices flowing once again. With even a simple shift in our energy and perceptions, one can often find inspiration hit like a drum or bursts like water through a dam. The ultimate security is knowing that you are love itself. And that nothing can be taken or lost. If someone is truly meant for you, nothing will stop it, and if they are NOT meant for you, nothing will keep it.
Breathing is one bodily function we have a strange amount of control over and interaction with and I’ve come to find with also studying ancient teachings such as the Vedas (Pranayama), is that the breath is a bridge. With breath-work we can learn to control other bodily functions such as heart rate and thought processing. And then we learn to open doors to higher states of consciousness as focused breathing leads to calm connections to your silent center.
Back in the 1990’s, I discovered that there were teens on the streets of my town who didn’t have a legal place to sleep. There was no youth shelter, and no long term housing for young people under 18 who were away from their parents and not part of foster care. In many states, including California, women’s shelters didn’t allow boys over 16, so often abused and homeless women would have to choose between shelter for themselves and younger children and caring for their teen boys. I didn’t feel comfortable living in a community where there wasn’t a legal place for a child to be if they wanted to be, so I decided to work to create a program that could provide the missing services.
