Psychiatrist, Neel Burton believes that we have over-extended our cultural diagnosis of “depression” and labeled it as a problem, when often it is a message or gift that is asking us to adapt, and giving us the state of mind and body that causes us to go inward and deal with what is truly not serving us.
He invites us to change our view of depression and says many great minds have suffered from what would be diagnosed today as depression: Winston Churchill, Abraham Lincoln, Emily Dickenson, Isaac Newton Charles Dickens, and Tennessee Williams just to name a few.
Can depression be good for you? Watch this and decide for yourself.
