An 18 Year Old Tibetan Monk Lights Himself Ablaze

There were hundreds of Tibetans attending a vigil in southwest China in memory of a Buddhist monk who self-immolated in protest.

The monk named Nangdrol lit himself last Sunday in Sichuan province’s Rangtang county which is allegedly where security forces shot a Tibetan.

Over the last year 22 people have self-immolated in Tibetan regions of China in protest of repressive Chinese rule.

The International Campaign for Tibet said, that the monk exclaimed, “May HH (His Holiness) Dalai Lama live 10,000 years” and “Freedom for Tibet,” before he lit himself on fire.
