In this video, Mat Dube and Danielle Chabassol, the owners of Exploring Alternatives, share their #1 tip for saving money.

The couple puts a disclaimer to the video, saying that this money-saving hack doesn’t necessarily work for all financial situations. For example, if you’re only earning enough money to get by, you don’t have any extra expenses we can cut out of our budget.

But when we do have at least a little surplus of money, this tip helps you avoid buying things you don’t want or need so that you can use it for more important stuff like paying off debt, saving for a trip, planning for retirement, or doing what matters most to you.

Another advantage to learning how to live with less money when you need to is that you can also set up living situations where your costs are low enough that you can work part time if you want to have more time to work on a passion project or just spend more time together.

Mat and Danielle travel and do videos and blog posts about alternative, more natural and lower budget ways to live. Check out their youtube channel Exploring Alternatives.
